I'm not that new to GW, got the game in June (Factions only). I liked it a lot, now I progressed, beat the game and every where I see people in 15Ks, weapons, and well stuff which costs a lot of money. I wondered how dose every one do that, how do you make that much money! The most I had was arround 30K.

PLZ give a noob some tips

Already did, when I ditched my Shiro Blades I have no use for it.

I'm using a modded version of the shock assassin build, modded it my self = )

Using mending to compensate for the degen on vampiric weapons is the most stupid idea I've ever heard. Go for a -1 energy regeneration if you want do do that and you can save a skill slot.

there are many ways to make money: most of them involve buy and sell that you might need some initial investment.

1 Chest run, buy a lot of key and keep open chest in game area (high level place like Raisu Palace) and hope you got a nice weapon to sell high

2 Green farm, Solo or team up with a few people, repeatedly kill specific boss for his green item. sell them for money.

3 Runner, in some place where other don't want to walk the path, run for them for tips

4 farming, go out and kill foes, salvage material and hunt for items (rune, dye, weapon, upgrades...), sell them to trader ot player

go search the forum for builds u might be able to do. it might get tricky tho only using faction skills. the way i got all the gold i ever needed was looking at faction greens that where in high demand and sold for the most gold. then i would go research the boss, location, mobs, existing builds, etc. then i go green farming. the trick is to not overfarm the boss. i maybe do 3 runs max for each of the bosses i farm a day. this way i get at least 1 green from the boss i'm farming a day. sometimes i get lucky and get greens in 2 consecutive days, sometimes every other day, sometimes 2 greens a day, sometimes after 3-4 days. its seems random but it sure beats killing the same boss over 50 times every day w/o getting a single green.

I had the same problem as you, it took me months to save up for my 15k Canthan Ele armor. Now, however, I have discovered an immense solo farming build for my Mesmer...I had to spend about 6k on skills but it's paid for itself about 3 times over now, over the course of about 4-5 hours farming. I still don't like having to farm, I find it boring, but I make myself do a bit from time to time now since I do finally profit a lot from it.

Same here, got solo builds for all my chars depending on where I'm going, and what on earth has mending got to do with the OP's post

Well personally I dont farm much (except for the occasional 2 man 55/SS in UW)

I have played the game for over 10 months and until recently only had about 50K max in the bank (did get 15k glads for warrior a while back .. took aaaaggggeeeesss

)

I just managed a luck drop in the Ring of Fire (Gold 15^50 Mursaat Hornbow)

So farm, run, chests or just play lots of options.

I had farmed for my first three sets of 15k armor (platemail/necrotic/drakescale) waaaay back before chests even needed keys. It was so easy to get money back then. In fact; that's why they added keys

Mending is a funny skill.. I did have someone laugh at me for NOT using it while temporarily forgetting my sword was vampiric, cause it counters the effect of the vampiric.. and yes, it must make you invincible! I swear, I had the same warrior charge at my mesmer time and time again, Ineptitude + clumsiness + inspired enchant.. oh look

Mending.. repeat. No, mending does NOT help you if you're blind, you're still going to miss.. and right... we weren't supposed to go off topic.

On topic:

Saving is hard, especially if you like changing the looks of your armor. I quite frequently have less than 15k over all on my account. Not that that stops several 15k armors being there and the ability to farm, I happen to not enjoy farming.

Farming would be your best bet for money though, and to some extend, doing the quests that reward money.

Also, before buying skills, check on what they do, if they're useful for you and if you HAVE to have them right now, or could do till later.

Personally, a character with max armor, collectors weapons and appropriate skills/runes, is worth more than a character with expensive items. Also remember, farming does not equal skill.

30k for completing the game with one character is pretty good. Farming, chest runs, there are endless ways to make money. As these ways get pointed out and emphasized, we are seeing more wealthy people, thats just how it is.

You can faction farm and convert the faction into jadeite or amber and sell it.

You can complete all your side quests, get the imperial comendations, luxon totems and Equipment requisitions which sell for a fair bit. Or even if you convert them into Salvage kits and sell the salvage kit o_O

Whilst doing all your side quests you can keep hold of the collectable items, find out what they convert into and either sell the collectable item, or sell the item eg, collector in Cavalon which converts 2 oni things ( i think ) into max damage daggers.. you can sell these for about 1k to assasins who want some quick cheap max damage daggers.

Also, whilst doing your side quests, salvage stuff and stock pile the materials, keep an eye on the merchant prices and sell when the price is good.

some materials, like plant fibers and dust can be converted into rare materials (5 plant 5 dust, 200g = bolt of damask) which then sells for about 90g profit.

When you get bits of armor with a rune in.. dont salvage and take out the rune, unless you know the rune has high value. Otherwise, sell the armor to the merchant without salvage - will will get much more this way.

Learn what materials you will get from weapons you pick up.. bows you get wood, but somethings you get Bone!.. never salvage something which gives you bone, its ALWAYS better to sell the item at the merchant. (bone is worth naff all) Especially if this is a purple or blue item.

Running services : Some people make their characters with lots of protection skills and 'run faster' skills and will offer to run people places, because basically they are too lazy and are rushing through the game.. a great little earner

Always help members of your guild or alliance to do missions you have previously done, pickup EVERYTHING, even items which people dont want.. and salvage or sell them

These above ways are non-farming ways to increase your income, they are more fun that Farming and keeps you interested..

However if you WANT to farm, then there is an excelent Farming Forum here on Guru which can guide you

I personally have never done a lot of what I would call farming. I do on occasion try to kill some bosses or I go into areas where there are a lot of chests.

Mostly I do missions and fight in areas that I enjoy. I have been able to get 15k armor for 3 of my characters that way. On occasion I get something really good that I can sell for a lot. Like the time that I got Sunreaches Shield and sold if for 90k. I wasn't really trying to get his shield so it was very nice to get it.

For a lot of 15K armor sets, all you really need is 30K to get the look - the gloves or boots look nearly identical to the 1.5K, or the pants are barely visible, or some such.

My favorite way to earn money is to do Alliance Battles and sell the amber, but with the price of amber dropping this is getting less and less effective. Luxon and Kurzick quests for amber or jadite is also decent if you know which quests can be done quickly.

I personally hate chest farming because of all of the additional hassle required to resell your loot, but YMMV.

Farm for a few weeks, and once you've accumulated ~100k, start powertrading. Learn the price ranges of high-demand items (ecto, shards, minipets, unique items, etc.) and try to figure out what the "going rate" is. Spend nearly all of your 100k buying whatever items you choose at as low a pricee as possible, and then resell them for a profit. Try to sell at or not much higher than the "going rate" at first, but as your negotiation skills get better you can try to get more money out of your transactions.

I'm not the best powertrader out there, but it's easy enough to do and it's the fastest way to make money in the game. I started off by selling my Mini Kuunavang right after the Factions release for 100k+13 ecto--a little over 160k at the time. Not the best sale. However, I made ~200k trading ecto over the span of 3 days back in May when the prices were bottommed out. I made another 100-150k trading Zaishen Medalions and Flames of Balthazar during the Nightfall PvP weekend in one night. I could probably make more money, but I try to sell stuff for fair prices--it lessens the time I have to spend finding buyers who will pay me.

As for making money in PvE...I like going to the Fissure of Woe with my guild and clearing the place out as completely as possible. Except for the Forest of the Wailing Lord and the Great Battle Field, the place is way more forgiving than the Underworld. Maybe I'm lucky, but I can usually net 3 Obsidian Shards per visit with a full 8-man party. Even if you pay the full 1k for entry yourself, you still make ~9k off of the run through shards, and then another 1-3k off of white/blue drops that get sold to the merchant.

Ever since those three days powertrading ecto and one night powertrading medalions/flames, I've never had money problems. Since then, I've bought two more sets of 15k armor (Luxon armor at that, I bought most of the Jadeite back when it still cost 750g each) black dyes for one of the sets of armor, and a perfect 15>50 Runic Axe for my Warrior. The odd gold drop with a perfect mod and Amulets of the Mists I've sold from beating Factions have helped sustained my xunlai account, in addition to profits off of FoW runs.

I've also noticed that now that I have what I consider to be "enough" money, playing the game is just a lot easier to enjoy. New skill I want to try out? I can go buy it and four more skills to go with it. I can give a free ride to FoW and eliminate all of that "collect 125g from everybody" confusion. As long as I don't go nuts buying stuff I don't need, I'll always have enough money to enjoy the game to the fullest. I think the lowest my storage box has gone since May is down to around 190k--right after I finished crafting those two sets of 15k armor.

I hope this helps. Basically, farm some honest cash to get started, and then powertrade your way into wealth. Powertrade as much as you want to get as rich as you want to be. Then only buy what you need or what you really want, and you'll always have enough money for skills, keys, and new armor.

I just love how people assume there's some magic key code they can type in and get 100k. It's a game, but you still have to work for somethig that you want.

Money isn't that hard to come by. I'm quite poor in compairson to a lot of GW players, but I still have 3 chars in 15k dyed black (my monk tats are silver though, black looks ghey IMO) nice weapons for them and 200k+ and some ecto and shards in storage. It's not that hard IMO to make money.

Chest running isn't really a great way to get rich. It obviously does have it's perks, but there's only a *chance* your going to get those really good items. I'm going after tier 4 treasure hunter atm, and the best chest drop I've gotten so far is a req 10 15^50 fellblade I sold for 80k here on guru. So you don't always even make your money back from keys, let alone make a profit.
