I could be considered a "jerk" for what I did at the weekend, but really I was just pointing out to someone not to be so silly.

We were doing the Ring of Fire mission. One ranger had dropped (probably error7) but we were doing ok. However when we had opened the entrance to the gatehouse, one warrior felt the need to keep aggroing. At one point he decided to rambo the twin ether seals himself - he died in 10 seconds.

So after he ressed, I ran forward (with my monk as party leader) and just moved around a bit until I was electrified. Then I said "Dan, this is what you did. It's not so funny when the monk dies, is it?"

He then left in a fit of pique. We continued to finish the mission without him. I must say it's so much easier to heal when you don't have warriors trying to rambo by themselves

Nope, the second you hit accept, it stays unless you do modify offer. The way this could've been avoided is to let the other person hit accept first. The way they changed it was after you hit accept, he hit modify offer (or what ever that button in the middle says), the then changed the amount and then hit accept.

When I'm trading with someone I don't know, I never take my eye off of that window and I don't hit accept until they do.

I agree with this, just pay attention and never accept till they do. I had someone try and pull this on me once.

Was selling some item, dont remember what it was. Get a whisper:

Idiot: "How much?"
Me: "10k"
Idiot: "Meet by storage"
I run over there he opens a trade window, I drop in the item and he drops in 10 gold.
Me: "Its 10K, not 10G."
Idiot: Drops

Some people. Its not real money hello!!

Jeesh

was in droknars when this message pops up in trade channel

RAndom:- WTB 15% in stance or 15^50 chaos axe

me:- how much would you offer for a 15% stance, 10& furious, 30hp req 10 chaos?

Random :- uhm

Random :- 13k?

me:- Are you joking?

Random :- 15k?

me :- look mate you will find it hard to get a clean 15% chaos axe for under 150k

Random:- OMG, Rofl, N00B etccccccc

i hate it when the real noobs call you when all you want is a fair price for your item.

After watching him charge twice into agros (the first 2 agros, btw) and dying faster than I could put a heal on him (invinvi build?), he leaves. So do 3 other members of the group, including both warriors.

Well, this is the end, I think. 4 members of the party and no warriors - the run is over. So I map back and start looking for another group. Suddenly, there's the party leader, and starts ranting about "whiners and quitters" - and seeing my name LFG, says "...and <my character's name> is one of them!"

Oh well - as a monk, I don't have problems finding a party
That is so sad when that happens! But the best thing is to never leave a group without saying why. I've left a few times, but I always made it clear why I was going, like, hey we are down to only 4/8 and I don't want to continue without more in the party, so hey guys, I am leaving to reform a group.

Well, as annoying as it was - in the end I realized that I'm a monk, she/he is a ranger - which of us will have an easier time getting another party?

Two posts for the price of one.....

Anyone who says "WTS ITEM WHISPER OFFERS NO REPLY = NO THANKS" is an a-hole.

Is it really so hard to type "nty" in the damn window?

Or those folks that won't let people look at their items (No I am not one of those that asks to see a green) as though not knowing the stats on a green is anathema.

Everyone in the game was new at some point so I wish people would just drop the whole "noob" thing.

My first guild was called Non Sibi, which is Latin for "Not for oneself". Our whole foundation was built upon helping "noobs" get better and eased into the game.

Finally I will share a pretty cool story and a real non-jerk.

Last night I was trading 5 ecto for 60k, I wasn't paying close attention and he put 60 gold in there and I hit accept.

I was like "I deserved that", but he said it was an accident and gave me the rest of my money.

It is staggering when I run into someone who is not an ass and that's sad.

I had a class-A jerk encounter today in Elona Reach. And this was in the local chat of all places. Note: I was not the target of this.

Jerk Uno: There's a black guy in here!
Jerk Dos: Hey, black guy!
Unfortunate Player: <can't remember exactly, but it was something to the effect of "STFU">
Jerk Uno: I don't see many black guys around here
Jerk Dos: Ha ha, he left!
Me: Jerk Uno, that's a really stupid way to get a ban
Passerby: Yeah

I was just floored. I should have gotten a screen cap of that, gotten both of them banned. After I spoke up, they said that they wern't going to get a ban because they weren't using racial slurs. That's basicly true, but no one wants to be singled out for the color of skin. That's just wrong.

This is something that pisses me off about agent, they don't do anything about racism in the game.

I have sent them screenshots of 10 year olds dropping 40 n-bombs per minute and never gotten a response.

man, u get some real wierdos out there. i have 2 that i wish to share. the first is from a run to droknar i was on.

on this run, i was being run, i decided to hang back, as not to affect the run, unless i was asked to distract the ice imps etc. the rest of them ran ahead, and got themselves killed, the strory picks up form there..

jerk: peewee, go and die u n00b.
peewee (myself): why?
jerk: cos the runner is probably using IWAY, and that needs all ppl to be dead
peewee: i am fairly sure that drok runners dont uses IWAY, and this 1 certainly doesnt.
peewee: and even if he did, then it has the range of only 1 radar range
jerk: ur such a n00b, just die.
Peewee: I prefer to live thank u very much, and only 12 yr olds insult ppl with n00b.
Jerk: GO AND DIE. and i am not a kid
Peewee: THERE IS NO POINT, and u sure fooled me.
jerk: he might use IWAY.
Peewee: pls review what i have said
*moments quite*
jerk: yeah, but not if u use hacks like me
Peewee: wat do u mean?
jerk: i can make the range go on for ever.
Peewee: u mean u cheat.
Jerk: not cheating, just being inventive.
Peewee: read the rules. hacking is against the rules of this game
Jerk: n00b!!!!111!!
Peewee: and if ANET was to find out somehow.....
*takes screenie*
Peewee: ........like by a screen shot or something.
Runner: [email protected], ur fecked m8.
* about 30secs of silence*
Jerk: i cant actually do the hack, but my dad can, i am only a kid :S
*reach drok, pay runner, say thanks, screenie entire conversation, and leave, fast*

the other1 was a person trading at deldrimore war camp:

jerk: WTS Perfect HAMMER, 50k NO N00BS!!
peewee: how do u identify a n00b?
jerk: do u want to buy my hammer?
peewee: i dont know, i might be a n00b.
jerk: lol, i will show u it.
*looks at hammer*
peewee: dude, this hammer is max mg, gold, but its not perfect.
jerk: yes it is!
peewee: no its not. 17% below 50% is not perfect, and nor is +5armour vs physical.
jerk. i didnt say the whole hammer is perfect, just the armour.
peewee: +5 is not perfect, +7 is.
jerk: nah, its plus 5 m8, u are such a n00b.
*precedes to show him +7hammer*
*jerk logs changes district, and ignores me*
peewee (to world in general): oh the irony, the seller who wont sell to n00bs, is in fact, a complete n00b.
peewee: /sigh

Did you submit the complaint correctly? What Anet needs in addition to the screen caps are the date, time, place who the offending party was, who your character was. What I usually do when making a complaint is, make sure the offensive text is visible and then where you normally type to chat, type in all that info and then take the screen shot. Where you are and what district you're in will already be there so all you need to add is the date, time and names. If you do it correctly, they will at least let you know that they received it.

Well, in my case it was simple a case of bad timing. I hit accept RIGHT as he changed the Plat to Gold. So, even if the "accept" resets after someone modifies a trade, it wouldn't have helped me...

But I'm not sure "Accept" does reset. I've heard many people complain that it does not, and you should never accept first (which seems silly to me!)

In any case, I started a Petition that would end Bait and Switch scams like this once and for all:
