Another quite obvious fact was the look of the emerging damage numbers, heal numbers and energy gain and loss numbers: in contrary to the old, simply moving upwards style they now pop up, squiqqle around, move a little upwards and then vanish very fast again.

So what do you guys have to say? Personally from the way it sounds it'll be rather annoying, perhaps laggy. This was Wolf Gaming's response to the new effects.

This sounds rather legit (as it seems like how my opinion would be), hopefully Anet tweeks this more or something... We'll have to wait and see. On a plus side they did mention traps and riddles and cool stuff see here.

green-screen hex effect:
"pop, squiqqle, fly" numbers:
Sorry, they did stay very short on the screen only and I could not get them photographed.

O dam... I hate manga style games, they seem for kids only.
Would be BAD if they made all the colorful stuff. It's bad enough when I play in the dark.

Personally I won't trust anything that comes from a 3rd person perspective. Unless it comes straight from ANet nothing is absolute. So jumping to conclusions is the worst thing to do.

NOES, not green screens! Maybe only this is certain monster hex that do it? And...the floaty numbers - I hope it can be turned off, or maybe ONLY certain numbers (tricky to track skills) be that way.

as far as the effect goes-> im sure its specific to a particular monster hex... if you read the official press release, it definately says "poisonous desert"
my understanding is that this type of screen effect will NOT come on every time you get virulence cast on you... but you WILL see it repeated a few times on your path through Elona -
If it covers everything, it will get annoying and not be special. If its unique than its unique, ya know? ANet is practical in its applications, and I highly doubt they will 'spam' us with screen effects.
Drinking to get fuzzy is one thing, but when a monster does it to you it can become more of a problem than just the number-game- it will increase the immersion of the player-environment relationship.
I really dont think they will make global (global=across all chapters) changes with this screen effect, otherwise they would have put them in place when they changed the interface graphics last month.
