Too many people are getting caught up in the thought that this Nightfall "Pre-Release" is the same as the Factions "Pre-order". It is not.

GW would not offer a slot for purchase via in-game means, then give them away for free via an in-store promotion only weeks later.

Now THAT would cause extreme community melt-down.

You are right with regards to it not saying that it's a preorder package (though given the time frame, I view that as likely), that said, while $10 is the norm that a store charges for such a thing, most stores decide what they want to charge for an item, ANet simply says, we'll give this to you for $x.xx, and we suggest/recommend you sell it for $y.yy. If it does turn out to actually be the preorder package, this money will be deducted from the final purchase price (unless your retailer is scum) making this package free in the end.

It is my belief that the Prerelease Bonus Pack is essentially a renamed Preorder Pack. It's almost identical to the Factions Preorder Package except for the free character slot.

It is not "pay $x for package, which goes towards your pre-order". It is a completely separate purchase from a pre-order and GWN all together.

If it was NOT separate, then you would be having complete and utter melt-down within the GW community about "Free Slot" vs "Buying from In Game Store". GW would simply NOT offer slots for sale, then turn round days later and give them away for free.

It looks great, but I am a little disappointed. You see, I already bought my one extra char slot, so I'm not at all sure I'm going to buy this prerelease pack. Then again, it's nice to have an extra slot that I'm already using, versus waiting until mid September to utilize this other one. I will simply wait and see how things shake out.

Hmmmmm.... If this one is not the same as previous pre-order packs, I might not buy it.

You see, it's not like I need more slot, or any of those weapons to begin with. I just want the game itself, so pre-ordering is the only way to go for me.

umm folks, nowhere does this say its a preorder.....its a PRE RELEASE BONUS PACK. if its a preorder, woot, 10 buck for the preorder and a free character slot. but from the wording im not sure it is. i think its guna be a BONUS pack, givin you the screenies htat you dont care about and the character slot that you do, but you still have to preorder it. just what im readin.

You get the pre release pack for preordering the game. you get it free for putting money down on the final game.

its the same exact thing as the pre release factions case we had last time, only now they are adding a character slot

Did anybody who complains about Factions preorders actually buy one? The only "extra" in the Nightfall preorder, over the Factions one, is the extra character slot -- which is great, but don't knock Factions because of it. I continually see Factions preorder slams, and the preorder weaps there were 100 times better than the Prophecies preorder junk. Seems to me ArenaNET gets better with each release, and I applaud them for it.

I am most definately preordering for Nightfall, I am totally loving the scenery pics. Especially the whole Arabian Nights Palace, very nice.

The only reason not to get it is if you really don't want that extra character slot. IMO, there's such a thing as too many slots. (i like things neat and orderly)

The fact they give us a slot with the bonus pack makes me think they wont give us slots with Nightfall. I wouldn't assume either way though, we really dont know what ANET plans on doing.
