Nightfall professions overpowered?
Do you believe that the skills for the new professions are overpowered?
I had a quick look at the Guildwiki at the Paragorn's spear skills and thought that some of them easily outclass the rangers abilities...
Then again most skills charge on adrenaline and thus will be much harder to use, still, the adrenaline needs for some formidable skills and the fact that some skills cost 5 energy made me doubt wether the new classes are way too good or not...
What are your ideas about this?

The skills are from the pvp preview, probably many of them are tuned down since.

Considering the fact that Paragon got 2 recharge pips only and need to shouts to regain energy, I think having mostly 5 energy cost skill is resonable.
The adrenaline skill should have higher damage like Warrior does.

I’m not sure how you came to that conclusion. My Rangers abilities far outclassed the Paragons using basic ranger (Barrage was my elite) skills (non special build) in damage output during the PvP weekend. I thought the Paragon needed a boost in damage if anything. Where the Paragon will shine is when working within Groups of people. His shout and echo abilities are a nice compliment to any party formation.
Out of curiosity what were the skills you thought outclassed the rangers abilities? and why?

At the time of the preview event, the 2 professions were indeed overpowered.
Teams with 8 dervishes pretty much owned HA and received massive faction awards. De/Mo had been superb healers do to the fact that they gain energy whenever an enchantment ends. The elite forms are powerful only the dervishes have.
Paragons are also very powerful- their spears have a higher attack rate then a bow and they deal more damage. Some of their skills are adrelanline based, allowing more flexability then a ranger,
I hope that Anet reached this conclusion after the PvP event and will tune both proffesions down.
PS: The next time there is a PvP preview event featuring new classes- please freeze the guild and fame ladder.

I love it, before Factions came out everyone was all "Wahhhh Assassins are overpowered, Wahhhh" then when Factions came out it became BLATANTLY apparent that this game is meant to be balanced. Hordes of unskilled Assassins gave the Assassins such a bad name that no one will accept them into most PVE groups
Dervish had some tweaking required, as did Paragon, but people are still going to whine and moan until release. Then they'll feel that they have reason to whine and moan some more.
I love how people who post in these forums say "I got tired of GW in a week" or "I was done with Factions after two days"... Do these people really think they've experienced everything that the games have to offer? If you are so bored with the games, why do you post in Guild Wars related forums?

2 possibillities:
1. Game is in testing phase yet, and will be tweaked the first months after the release.
2. Its salesman strategy: players may think they get stronger and have an extra reason to buy it; after the release the nerf bat will fly.
One way or the other, it will be 'corrected' (probably causing lots of complaints if its after the release).

I'd be interested to see that quote. I suspect it may have been taken out of context.
I would suspect that what she meant was that the Dervish and Paragon professions aren't going to be swapped out for other professions, or that the general playstyle of those professions aren't going to be changed. I highly doubt that she meant that the Dervish and Paragon have been granted immunity to balance adjustments.

Well they haven't nerfed touchers or even wammos (one of the only classes that truely doesn't need real tweaking to solo just a build and 1.5k armor) so that wouldn't really surpize me but the enchantment explointing is kind of annoying.

Agreed. Especially Temple Strike has been nerfed into oblivion. From 10 en 15 recharge to 15 en 25 recharge making it elite off-hand that is the most expensive attack of assassin with recharge so long no other attack has longer. Some skills are gonna get nerfed like that before release I bet. And if you ask me those are gonna be signet of piety, mysticism, spear of lightning, aria of swiftness, perhaps some recharge nerfs on dervish pbaoe skills.

After the creation of the assasin, I really would not be dissapointed by one of the new professions being a bit overpowered. Since everyone is going to be using the new professions when Nightfall releases, it would be nice for teams that have large numbers of Paragons/Dervishes to at least be able to hold their own.

that should answer the question... not the most specific answer but suggests alot less "balancing" than most demanded.

Probrably??? People complain about everything and everything again in this game. "Nerf this skill but don't nerf that skill. That's too overpowered. That skill sucks noone will ever use it."
I mean everyone can agree with me that we can easily end half of the complaints that are made if people would just take the time to read...
Though there is an increasing number of people playing this game. You will expect the number of complains... and repetitive complaints to rise.
I'll just assume people are on the right track by repeating:
Nothing has been released yet as confirmation of "the actual skills and stats" to be used in the game.

My first response on seeing a thread like this is: "Of course they're overpowered! It was an alpha test!!!" I mean; why would anyone want to start complaining about them now? We haven't even seen them in beta yet, where the tweeks are fine tuned from concept to what we should expect to use.
Then I remember. We saw an alpha test of characters that probably need to be commented on. If they didn't want player opinion, they wouldn't have shown their hand yet.
my 2g: the protective power of the paragon has the potential to be either uber, or nerf city. I found them decidedly lacking in heals, however. I understand the desire to keep monks at the top of the game when it comes to healing, but more player options is a good thing, not a bad. Too many PvE groups rely on a 2 monk backline as though it were set in stone. Adding a character that can meet a monks group healing prowess (which I don't think rits can do without resorting to a /monk build) would go a long way to breaking some of these streotypes of what conctitutes "a good group". As a monk (primarily) I'd welcome another way to bring healing into the group. Too manys the time friends ask me to break out my healer because they can't get the characters we "need". Do you know how hard that makes it to get Prot of Cantha titles on my warrior???
Alas. I doubt the paragon is to be that character.
Dervish/monks have an obvious balance issue which should be addressed (I hope NOT to the detrement of monks...AGAIN!!!) but not to the point of "pulling an ele" on the new proffesion.

Think logically here, I highly doubt anet will keep things as they were. They are always about "balance"..
