lags like crap, whenever I cast an enchant on myself or someone cast an enchant on me, the icon is always shows an hour glass before actually showing the effect icon

I used to have bad lag issues, my machine is 2.3ghz, 1gig ram, 566mhz bus with 512mb radeon graphics.

One of my problems was with running Itunes in the background, it would cause random crashes all the time (so does the software for my wife's RCA Lyra mp3 player).

The biggest problem that I had though was a fragmented hard drive. After I ran the defrag on it, my lag virtually disappeared. The only times I EVER get lag now are when I try to load heavily populated zones like Lions Arch District 1.

It is odd what will and won't cause the problems though; Itunes would cause random crashes, while using Windows Media Player doesn't seem to have any effect on it at all. Similarly, I get a bit of lag when using Ventrillo but never while using Teamspeak (though the teamspeak server occasionally crashes at random, but I am pretty sure that is on their end).

all i get is horrible network lag. cant even play the game. i get no graphics / cpu / ram type of lag. no drive fragmentation. i can run GW with max settings, 1280x1024, 4xAF with no problem. im getting ping 30ms with EU Anet server. But the lag is horrible. I dont get it. There are days everything is fine but then baaaam and i lag again. Alien invasion?

Amd 64 x2 4400 (non overclocked) procesor
2 gigs of corsair xps high performance ram (with the cool lights

160 gig western digital hard drive
2x geforce 6600 gt in sli totally rippin stuff up

with this setup i HIGHLY doubt that my CONSTANT error sevens that have made me damn near stop playing this game are my fault.

i dont run shit in the background and my comp is clean a a whistle. with gw and firefox about the only thing that is on it.

and lastly my internet is just fine and dandy. because when i get that nice lil freeze in gw right before you get the error seven message.. i can window out of gw and surf the internet and stuff..

gw is soooo shitty right now it even crashes my vent.

i just wanna point out one thing also.... ANET COULD NOT EVEN HANDLE ADJUSTING THE AMMOUNT OF SCROLLS THAT DROPPED FOR A WEEKEND EVENT!!!!! THEY CRASHED GUILD WARS FOR A FEW HOURS TRYING TO ADD ONE OF THE LAMEST SPECIAL EVENTS THAT I HAVE HEARD OF EVER!!!

this is who we are depending on to give us lagg free gameplay? now i know why about 30 percent of the gw fanbase is soon to quit playing this game.

and i can only laugh at anet for it while i watch this game go into the gutter. thanks anet.. instead of fixing a small problem at the start.. you compounded it by PILING special event after special event on top of it....

and now its not your shitty sequals that are making people stop playing.. its the condition of your damn servers..

flame me if you want people.. but when you get your error seven tonight. think about this post.

I too had some lag this weekend. Not real bad, but noticeable for most of the weekend. But last night I lagged out and couldn't log back in for like 20 minutes.

I also had two BSoD while playing the NF WPE. It was GW, not the computer. When I rebooted, Windows poped up the message "You've recovered from a serious error" (no shit) then a few lines about "gw.exe" crapping all over everything.

I usually get no lag, but after the Nightfall event I started lagging. Not bad so far, but enough to be annoying. Hopefully they can fix this like they did House zu Heltzer. Anyone remember how bad that lag was....ugggh.

Did some tweaks and also test.

I tweaked my vid card. Before I usually ran at 15-18 frames per second. When lag hit that went way down. Now with the tweaks I'm getting 28-40 fps. When the lag comes my fps spikes to high 40s and the transfer rate drops like mad.

So I increased the frame rate and turned down the in game graphics. Higher fps should be better but I"m lagging even more then before. I lag just trying to bring up the chat and type.

On another note, after reinstalling GW and load a map it is always downloading files. This happens to maps I've already been to. Every map in RA I have to download. Something is not right here.

my problem is not with lag hardly at all.

my problem is with the massive ammounts of error sevens i have been getting seince the time they did the event.

I swear to god on my life i can only get about 10 minutes of gaming in before my game freezes like a lag spike.. my vent laggs.. so i cannot hear or talk to anyone. and then i error seven. then once i completly loose my connection to gw... my vent becomes all fine and dandy again.

can anyone tell me what the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO is going on or if you are having the same constant error seven bullshit that im getting..

cause im honesly about ready to quit altogether

I might be right behind you.

What I don't understand is compare the population of now to about a year ago.

There are far less people playing the game now then back then. Yet I never had any lag or err7 issues till factions came out.

Now that I've downloaded the nightfalls content even more problems are coming up.

I suggest Anet find this problem fast. Shutdown the servers and fix it. I don't care if GW goes down for a week or 2. Just get it fixed.

I hope they get this lag fixed soon. That hourglass with the skill icon glitch is annoying me to no end. Please find the problem and fix it. Oh yes I'm patient btw. Just acknowledge that you (Anet) are aware of this issue and are working to fix it. Yes its the game since every other game I run is smooth.

Over the first year I played this game I got almost no err7 and very little lag. But over the past few months it has been increasing. I had at least 10 "lag spikes" tonight and 2 err7's. The last err7 was after fighting to warcamp on my newest toon and dced right outside outpost. Woohoo an hour of my time wasted

I play a few other mmo's (swg and another small junk mmo) and I don't have near as much lag problems there. I run 3.2gh p4, 256 vidcard, 1gig ram, so I don't think its my comp. I did a fresh install of gw, defrag of HD, virus/spy scans, updated drivers/widows etc.

I think it is in ANETS best interest to do something. When I go out in groups its common for half or more of the players to complaing about lag. I don't care how many chapters/new areas they add if the game lags they will not grow.

i would be totally happy if anet shut down guild wars for a week or two in order to tottally fix the problem.. but they had better do it now before nightfall releases.

because all i know is.. that if this keeps up. im done.. and that means no nightfall and my account will go straight to ebay or a pal or somthing.

If lag were a large enough problem, there would be a whole lot more than 3 pages to this thread, and i'm sure anet would consider doing something more than what they're already doing. The truth is, you are just a vocal minority and the vast majority of players aren't really having any problems.

please take a moment to go into the tech forum.. browse there..

now go into search and type error seven.. or gw down.. or any other thing that will search for an error on gw's part.

Now take a moment to whipe the blood away from your eyes from reading all the MILLION posts on lagg, error sevens, and just plain anet goofs.

now you can be in a small minority too.. the small ammount of people that have been living under a rock ever seince factions release..

please dont roll up into our sweet rant thread and try to sound smart and rain on our parade.. it just wont work.

we are right. lagg and error sevens suck.. its anets fault.. nuff said

Lag's got to be at Anet's end.

I have a 1 meg internet connection and it was only downloading at around 4-20kbs. I closed guildwars, opened up one of my download sites and I was downloading at around 100-130kps.

I used to be able to download from anet at that speed before, but for the last 2-3 weeks, it's been pretty crappy.

I finished NPE in 2 days...but it was like, I attack, my dervish teleports to target and I have to wait a couple of seconds before it starts attacking.
Also it was hard to see where enemies are in the radar, they're always jumping about! solution:Kill all!

Now, I can't do missions, I can't farm...I just sit in town seeing the trade window go by...and that 1/2h a day...basically Oblivion has been a better choice..for now.

And I don't want to imagine the lag when NF comes out..
