Good luck getting your 5k...seems kind of pointless to be honest. Nonetheless, hope you get it.

as an example.. theres a korean game called Lineage2. If you go from lets say lvl 69 to lvl 70... you gain 0.001 procent per beast you kill (or something like that). You do the math of how many you have to kill to gain a lvl..
so.. what were you guys saying about "grinding sunspear points"?

It still is a grind. It might not be a "OMG STOP COMPLAINING I SPENT A YEAR GETTING ONE LEVEL IN LINEAGE2"-grind, but it is a grind none the less.

The most common usage is in the context of MMORPGs, in which it is often necessary for a character to repeatedly kill monsters, using basically the same strategy over and over again, in order to advance their character level to be able to access newer content. Grinding can also appear in other games in which features can be unlocked.

I dont understand people complaining about any grind in Nightfall. I believe the rank (7) is as high as 5000 just because getting it is not mandatory to progress. The next one may be even 20k and maximum at 100k (speculation)
Getting 500 or 1000 sunspear points is not grinding, it just comes on the way of levelling and developing a char through normal play. And its a fair system even when it prevents 'rushing'.

hey avarre, is this for real? or are you just thinking. If real, how did you find out? although spearmarshal is cool, and sounds like a possibility
also, woot, time to burn rubber, or skale if you prefer 900 to go

This is just a new way to make players farm while saying you don't have to XP farm... *sigh*
I can also already see that armor costs too much material relative to what you get from salvaging, but not quite as badly as Factions. But it's still not as good as Prophecies.

It's not work. It's repetitive action.

Now presenting.. Sunspear Marshal Cinque Taranis
Wooooot!!
and to help out others, here are my runs...
first, the short way, brings in about 125 points per run, takes about 15 minutes with 8 man group
start by getting skale blessing, you shouldn't need to fight any insects till you get the insect blessing in the southeast corner, simple fast easy
longer run, brings in about 210 points per run, takes about 25-30 minutes with 8 man group
still only need to get the 2 same blessings you get in the short run, less loading makes them about the same points for time
Something I stumbled upon by accident...
this quest adds an extra 8 or so skale per run as long as you don't kill Mao'vu'Kaal, and with hero/hench commands just send them off to the side while you kill the weak ones, then continue on. These are counted in my numbers above.
Also, having a warrior with charge really speeds things up, and I tossed Splinter weapon onto one of my monks which wasn't alot but since I was using 3 monks, healing wasn't really a problem
All in all, I had a great time playing Nightfall, and even though promo points were somewhat of a grind, I really didn't get bored with it at any point.
I'll be selling tons of stuff for a while now, if anyone needs anything send me a whisper Chars name is Cinque Taranis, or you can add Reiden Argrock to friends
/Salute

Get the point? Your tolerance for grind is not everyone else's tolerance for grind. Neither is your defnition. I don't care how big of an AC, EQ1/2, DAoC vet you were or what your experience was. It's not mine or others and it's also not relevant to us.
Sorry to be a bit of an ass, but your over-the-top statement demanded an over-the-top-response.

Well I'm sorry your tolerance is so low that killing a few silly bugs leads you to whining on guru. No Hot Food Haberno for you.
Btw, I'm absolutely lovely Nightfall, the whole package feels quality rpgish. Levelling is just right, meaning that we won't have too many level 20 dudes running around with no clue how to play their character... or will we
Love it so much I took a pic!

Just posting to give you kudos on a job well done, Reiden Argrock. Congratulations on reaching Sunspear Marshall in such a short time, and thanks for sharing the information with the community. I got loaded with work this weekend, so I wasn't able to play as much as I would have liked, but I was very curious as to the next rank of the Sunspear title and a little worried that no one would post about it.

Something that I think has been missed in a lot of this complaining.
Who's to say the Sunspear title is specific to the Tutorial Island? Who's to say it doesn't extend to the main land as well?
Just a thought. Use it, Don't use it

I agree with ya Polgara, and I think others do as well, 10000 points for legend title is a bit extreme for only getting 1 point per kill. I believe we are sunspears throughout the duration of the game, so I expect quests to start giving more points once on the mainland, as well as blessing possibly giving 2 or 3 points for killing certain creatures. And if theres another title past legend.. well damn, it'll take along long time, if the island is the only place to get points..
also, thanks eohjay, sorry you've had to work so much
