This, + math, shows how this is obviously a scam. I pay 10k to enter, so do nine of my buddies. We play, the winner gains 40k. He shares it among us. We are now all much poorer, and not so much happier. The creator of the tourney pays 100g for each invite. After sitting at the gh for 10 minutes, he makes a massive gain with small losses.

Make the entrance fee lower ( 0 gold if possible, but with no rewards also ), limit it to pure warriors only and this lil thing your running might be worth something.

1v1 is just beyond silly as the game was not designed for it
there will be many cases where 2 certain builds going at each other will result in a stalemate.... how fun is that

A way an interface could work:
You walk up to another play in an outpost. You target the player(or click on it). You press C(challange).
A interface pops up on the other players screen. "Player X has challanged you to a duel.
Please set timelimit:
-1 Minute
-2 Minute
-3 Miutes
-5 Minutes
- 10 Minutes
- 30 Minutes
- Unlimited
Win based on;
-Total Damage output
-Who has most health(%) by the end of the fight
- others?
Both players agree on the rules, and they can then fight in towns. Maybe only a few towns. a little circle will appear in the town where the players can enter. Other players can't enter this circle. A flag will appear just above the circle, with a mark or logo to indicate that a duel has begun. A messege across the entire district will appear. "Player X has challanged Player Y, to a 5 minute fights, where the one with the most total damage output wins".
Other players(spectators) will be able to target the flag, just outside the circle where the two people fight, and gamble. Specators will be able to simply put their money in their inventory down on a player. Odds will go in and against favors, to add to the game.
This is not only cool because it gives players reasons to use money on finding out who has the best builds to counter the other players builds, but also because it adds suspense and fun.
:-D

Ok if y'all would actually go to the two websites that have been provided earlier on in the thread and read the rules and how matches have been there is a time limit set, 5-10 mins somewhere in there I believe 10 is going to be max it was 5 at first but the exact is undecided it does not just go on forever and yes when the time limit is reached there is a decision made by the judges/admins, (the main reason they are there) based on certain criteria. And for the one who said its a scam, the minimum for the 10k ladder is 4 people hence the minimum prize of 40k if more people join the 10k ladder the prize goes up accordingly... everyone will get their rewards, until/if we open the ladder to free entry and it becomes the challenges for best stats, fame, and more. So please ive said it before and i'll say it again before you go coming up with your "great ideas" or things that should be required in this 1v1 tournament read/ glance through the websites some of it might already be covered. (I might not have covered all complaints or reasons this might not work but o well... If you dont like it DO NOT POST NO ONE CARES HOW MUCH YOU THINK THIS IS LAME OR ABOUT YOUR "ULTIMATE" BUILDS)
EDIT: Entry fees are no more, but there is a 5k membership fee upon joining, which allows access to all ladders. THERE WILL STILL BE REWARDS/PRIZES

Just for argument's sake, let's say that 10% of the GW community like the idea of 1x1 warrior battles. Even at 5% that would still be a ton of people with like interests. Why do you have a problem with these thousands of people that want to test their skills/ have some fun?
A forum like this is the best way to draw more people that like the idea. It just makes sense for him to post here.
To the warrior haters/brainiacs that think they are too smart or elite to play a warrior: Many (or most) of the people involved in a contest like this have deeply examined their build and the different ways a warrior can be played. Of course we know that a good mesmer, nec, ele or monk can shut down and kill most warriors. This is about the tactics involved in a warrior vs warrior fight.
With the common warrior against most other professions, the other profession can use just a few skills to greatly reduce the warriors ability to hurt them. If a monk .eg knew ahead of time that he was going to face a warrior 1 on 1, the warrior wouldn't stand a chance.
But lets say that the monk knew that he was facing another monk 1 on 1, imagine the strategy and pre planning that would be involved. If the OP had made this a post about casters going 1 vs 1 there wouldn't nearly as many people against this.

the website didnt work for me so if my suggestion was already covered then my bad. I suggest you make it PURE war vs war. I myself am not a big fan of war vs war because all it boils down to is a blocking/riposte fight (Auspicuous Parry ftw)

I can just see people hammering each other over the head. (no pun intended)
Warrior is about the most predictable class. The secondary would be what counts in your 1v1 matches.

What?!?!
Use math to help yourself, not saboutage yourself. Enter alone and win. 40k winnings minus 10k investment equals 30k. That's math.
Why on earth would you spend 100k to enter a 40k contest? That's a scam you and your buddies are playing on yourselves. If you and 19 friends entered and split the same prize, would it be a bigger scam?
A scam is a scam if the money paid/recieved is not as advertised. Assuming that the guys are legit (and there's so far no reason to believe otherwise), then it's simply a matter of whether you feel:
A. The fight would be fun for you
and/or
B. The chance of winning is worth the advertised fees.
Don't call someone a scammer just because your buddies can't do math.

Cool in theory; but get rid of all the entry fees and just give away prizes or you're a scammer.

This would be cool. though I don't know how'd you implement it one match at a time in a busy city like KC or LA. Would go a long way though to make sleepy outposts like HoD, Serenity Temple, and Durheim Archives more interesting.
Add a duel queue, and scratch the gambling and global announcement ideas though. Just being in town doing your errands and being able to observe the duelists skill usage would be enough for me.

Kiting and running are not allowed and the entire fight has to take place at a fixed point. Binding chains is just for the first 10 seconds of the fight, and I was just trying to make the gayest warrior build I could think of.
[QUOTE]there is a time limit set, 5-10 mins somewhere in there I believe 10 is going to be max it was 5 at first but the exact is undecided it does not just go on forever and yes when the time limit is reached there is a decision made by the judges/admins, (the main reason they are there) based on certain criteria.[QUOTE]
It also says that the the judging criteria are a secret. So since all matches will be this long, and the rules that decide the winner are a secret, how can anyone know which skills to bring? If I bring divine boon, do I win automatically? The website tells us nothing about how to play in this game. It doesn't tell us the rules.

Many people seem to think it's lame, and it's obvious that it won't work. The reasons it won't work are listed for you here, but you refuse to change anything. I'm sorry you don't like my ultimate build. What do you want people to post in your thread?
Good luck with your scam, and remember, Healing Hands FTW!
