I pre-ordered my CE from Amazon as it was the cheapest but I saw no mention of pre-order I could find but after several e-mails back and forth with amazon I got this

After looking into your enquiry I found that pre order pack does not accompanies with the item "Guild Wars: Nightfall Collectors Edition (PC)". If you wish to get the pre order pack you have to place order for the item "Guild Wars: Nightfall (PC)".

Seems you can only get the pre order pack off amazon if you pre-order the normal version. Was'nt it supposed to be for both versions ?

The Bonus Pack (or pre-order, as you call it) is a separate purchase from both the Standard and Collector's Edition. If you preordered the SE or the CE at Amazon, but did not specifically buy the Bonus Pack, you will not get it.

Each retailer handles the Bonus Pack however they want.

Best Buy historically treats it as a 'pre-sell', meaning you can get the cost of the Bonus Pack taken off the price of the SE or CE when you purchase it. Buying the pre-sell does not reserve a SE/CE for you. BB typically sells them for $10, so on release day, the SE/CE would cost $10 less than MSRP if you bring and show your receipt.

Amazon and GameStop/EBGames treat the Bonus Pack as an additional cost. I believe at GS/EB, preordering the SE/CE does get you a Bonus Pack...if you pay the extra $5 or so for it. Preordering the SE/CE at Amazon won't get you the BP unless you add it to your cart for an additional cost.

On an aside, I just got my Bonus Pack from Amazon today. w00t!

Sorry, but what gave you the idea that it would be included since you say yourself that you saw no mention of it? I for one was happy they were selling it separately.

It isn't a "preorder", Its a "prerelease" pack. They dont HAVE to give it to you when you preorder.

You get the Pre-order pack as a special offer when you place a pre-order for game itself.

I placed an Order on Amazon for 2 copies of their special offer - "Pre-order Guild Wars: Nightfall and get a Guild Wars: Nightfall Pre-order Pack for free"

Unfortnately what they fail to tell you is that you can not buy 2 on the same order. So while you may get the Nightfall pre-order pack for free I have to pay international shipping twice as I have to place 2 orders. They fail to tell you about this any where in the terms and conditions and I have written to them to complain

$5 for the pre-release is fine for the US, but Amazon UK are charging £24.99, and are only including it as a free bonus with the standard edition. If you want a copy with a pre-order of the CE you have to pay £64.98

For those unable to read my post properley. my point was AT THE TIME I ORDERED my CE Amazon did not have ANYTHING on thier website about the pre-release pack AT ALL. This dispite the fact that ANET had confirmed it 5 days before hand AND Amazon where one of the place that where supposed to be doing it.

I have no problem in paying for it. But £24.99 is way to much espicaly as you can get it FREE with the "normal" Nightfall but not with the CE. Why should people buying the "normal" Nightfall have an advantage. It would make more sense for it to be the other way around. IE Its free with the CE and not the "normal" if thier only going to do it with one version.

I agree that it is stupid the way they are handling it, But thats besides the point.

If they didn't say anything about it at all, it would be more reasonable to assume they weren't offering it at all than that you would be getting one even though it wasn't listed. Anet announced the bonus pack in August (or July?) not five days before it went on sale. Even if the way Amazon handles it makes no sense, Anet said from the beginning that each retailer would handle it however they felt like so it's pointless to gripe about it.

I really dont understand why people get confused, it was the same with the factions pre order edition. The pre release bonus pack has nothing what so ever to do with ordering the full game here in the UK. It's a completely separate order. You DON'T get one when you order the other! (well not in any of the stores i have ever been in)

Well storm you can't of gone into many shops then AS.

1) HMV are giveing people the packs when the PRE-order the game from them.
2) So are several websites I've checked
3) So are amazon but ONLY if you pre-order the "normal" version.

Seems most places are doing this.

Your issue is obviously with Amazon. Anet has done their part, the pre-order packs have been sent, now it's up to the retailers to do as they please with it.

If you're having trouble getting the pre-order pack from Amazon, like you have already mentioned, there are other stores that sell the pack on its own. But there isn't anything you can do if you pre-order something, and not get what you thought you were getting, when it wasnt offered in the first place.

Anyways, EBG is my reliable source, no hassles there.

Amazon has shafted me before, I've stopped using them for games and such. Best Buy gave me the bonus pack free with my order of a regular copy of nightfall. Even with shipping and tax, that's $55, not bad at all. Considering they were able to deliver Oblivion in a timely manner, I have no qualms on odering from them.
