Why the Update was Good.
Ok first off I'm seeing alot of people being pissed off about the way farming got hit hard.
I for one am happy that Anet took this turn. Why? Because they are making this game grindless.
With the addition of weapon insignia's, nothing is going to be priced over 100k unless it's a ridiculously rare skin. This means that besides FoW armor (Which most peple think looks ugly) there is nothing you really need to farm for..
This will also cut down on ebayers and botting which means less wammo noobs walking around in their ebay'ed ob armor and thinking they are pro.
So once again Anet has made GW into a revolutionary MMO where you don't need to grind to get the best items. So stop the hate to Anet..

Except now the ridiculously rare skins get much harder to get, driving the price UP instead of down.
Farmers supplied for both demand and supply of items. Demand will still be there. A lot of farmers have 1000k in storage and enough stuff to keep them going for a while. Meaning prices stay high with equal demand and grosly reduced supply.
Insignias don't mean much, since there's a 50% chance you destroy the weapon in the process, meaning you could lose your weapon while trying to get that insignia. Unless you are rich and have high Wisdom/Treasure Hunter stats, which is pretty much reserved for the rich farmers.
It's like other updates that affected econmy in a way. The rich stay rich and the poor just got eve poorer.

Not everyone farmed for money. Granted, that's what MOST people farmed for...but personally, i've been farming (lately) for skill points to finish unlocking / buying / capping all the skills for each of my characters.
Farming was amazing for doing this. Troll runs especially. I could make a little over what it would cost for the skill point when I hit the level (with usage of scrolls) and cover the cost of my previously mentioned scrolls.
So, I wasn't breaking my already dwindled bank to access the rest of the game without spending 40 dollars and being forced to PvP with unlocked skills.

Thats where you are WRONG.
Over farming is the only reason why most players can afford the things they want to get with reasonable prices without spending the hours needed for the item to drop.
Killing gold farming, only makes E-bay gold prices higher, it doesnt eliminate the problem. By having cookie cutter builds for high end areas are one of the reasons why you dont need to spend hours in an instance for mission or farming.
Dont take the comforts you enjoy now for granted. Cause it will likely bite you in the rear when you least expect it. Such discussions have been made very clear some 10 months ago why farming isnt neccessary a bad thing for this game.

I'm very neutral about the update.
There's a couple of changes I LOVE but there's also a couple that worry me. I guess we'll just have to see how it all turns out.

The update idea is very good. The problem is that many have all rare stuff and gold easily from the old AI which makes it unbalanced. However, they can't do complete reboot so this is better than nothing. Getting all possible stuff fast will just kill the game. I bet, the rich players are more bored because the game does not have anything to offer.

Guys:You don't NEED obsidian armor to play this game.
Just like you don't need a Porche to drive to work.

I once saw a Lamborgini for sale on Ebay, really cheap.
Too bad it was burned out.

Hmmm....... put in countless trap runs for ecto, ran around FOW for shards, unknown # of Tombs runs, same for Sorrows Furnace. Why? Because I wanted obsidian armor for a few chars - my choice. And I enjoyed most of it.
It was said earlier, if rare skins are harder to get the price goes way up and stays up. Remember Urgoz Long Bow for 100k + 80-100 ecto - though it's nice to have the mods the skin is also what is wanted.
Have to wonder who Anet is catering to, it doesn't sound like it's me and that is a shame.
If it is enjoyable to play I'll play, if not what's the point.

I had r4 in Treasure and Wisdom titles before this update, so I like this patch. The templates rock my socks. The AI monster upgrade is kind of bleh, but makes things more interesting in FoW. Not easy to farm though, outside of Ettins and the like. Rather, easy, but takes a lot longer. My warrior was still able to take down the trolls.
Almost everything about this update was good, none of the nerfed skills affected me and MS didnt' make enemies in FoW run anymore than usual. Although a Skeletal Bond ONE TIME ran for like 3 aggro bubbles making a warrior overextend. Other than that it wasn't to bad. Barrage was just fine as well as MS.

Why the update is good:
The AI got more realistic (a.k.a. "how would a human player with some common sense react") on both sides: Henchies and Monsters.

For the most part, I see this update as a good thing. I think it's a little soon to claim doom and gloom on the GW economy and to claim the end of farming. The best example of this was the last AoE update where 55 monks claimed the end of UW until they realized that they just needed to take an SS along with them. While I don't think the answer will likely be as simple this time, I do believe that people will adapt. There were also so many things that I loved about the update, I don't think I'll let the AoE update overshadow this.
Oh, and my prediction is that UW trapping will become popular again. You can quote me on that.
