Is Guildwars Nightfall worth buying?
Hello. I was a longtime (17 months) GuildWars player until about three weeks ago i decided to try out World Of Warcraft. I like WoW a lot better than i liked Guildwars because Guildwars kinda lost it's fun factor. This question is more directed towards people that have played both WoW and Guildwars NF, but people that havent played WoW are free to answer. Which is more fun? and why?
P.S. Did an Auction House and all those other things Anet said would come soon come with GW:NF.
Thank You for any replies!

I really like GuildWars Nightfall.
It added a great deal of complexity. Upgraded the Armor/Weapons making it more modular, hero and lots of micromanagement, Upgraded AI on monster making them more realistic while allowing AOE nuking much more often again. Vastly improved story vs previous guildwars. Far better world mapping / character plot development. Great voice acting and far better cut scene's vs previous chapters.
#1 - Nightfall
#2 - Orginal GuildWars
#3 - Factions (but I do like it, weakest of the bunch).

Let me expand on what Eternal said. The story is VASTLY improved over the last two chapters. There are actual characters with actual personalities. The jokes are funnier. The plot makes sense and isn't scattered. When a character dies, you actually care (can you say Togo or Rurick).
I understand they hired a new story guy for Nightfall. He needs a bonus and a nice offer to keep him around.

So far, Nightfall is delivering in spades; I'm not even off the starting island yet, and already the story has really gotten moving and is interesting.
I've played WoW, and find it really boring and confusing.

Having a blast with Nightfall.
I actually bought WoW a few weeks ago and orginally signed up for 4 months with my credit card.
Bought nightfall last week and canceled my WoW account the next day :P
Guildwars > All.

Nightfall is awesome. You get to be inside wurms (you control them), play Pac-Man while in a wurm, get lots of awesome armor, and overall have tons of fun killing sweet looking mobs. Also, the new earth elite, [skill]Sandstorm[/skill] should be pretty sweet.

Nightfall has been so far, definately the best GW so far. It is also a big change of pace from WoW. I'm a long time WoW player as well as someone who's been playing my collectors ed. GW since launch.
The games are too different to try and compare them.

I can honestly say that NF is the best game I have ever bought. The storyline is amazing, it's REALLY fun, and there is good balance of slight glind, character development, and player skill.
If you like WoW or even remotely liked the previous GW chapters, then this shouldn't be missed especially because it doesn't have a monthly fee.

Oh, great. I wasn't going to buy Nightfall, and now I'm seriously tempted.
By the way, from now on, anybody using the "people who are enjoying the game are playing it, that's why everyone whines on the forums" should be mauled. It looks like ANet listened to constructive criticism, and fixed what was to be fixed. gg

Right here is everything you need to know about NF. If you liked Prophecies, you'll absolutely love Nightfall. If you hated Factions, you'll be madly in love with Nightfall.

No Auction house yet, but the stock market in GW is better than the auction house in WoW. The trade system in GW just needs to be expanded.
The fun in WoW won't last. I played WoW for 10 months and I wish I had the last 6 months of it back. Once you hit level 60 you'll see the "carrot on a stick" end-game that Blizzard crams down your throat. Play WoW for what it's worth and have fun with it cause it is a fun game, but DO NOT let it control your life. That means not to roll a new character when another one gets boring at level 60, don't take crap from a lousy raid leader just for uber loot, and whatever you do don't assume Blizzard will listen to you or other players and make the game more casual. They design it so you must pay and play every month if you're going to stay competitive.
I love Nightfall so far, and really think it's a huge improvement over the first 2 campaigns. If you're still having fun in WoW keep playing it, but don't get sucked in and duped like I was for 6 months.

That's why I'm looking forward to the Burning Crusade, I can finally enjoy playing my level 60s.
Also I'd like to note how impressed I am with this community, in certain other communities, if the phrase WoW is even mentioned once everyone would start flaming both the game, and the person mentioning it - so thumbs up guru.
/on-topic
Nightfall is a huge improvement over Factions and is a great game, it feels polished and refined - and although it's not perfect, it's a huge step in the right direction. Definately worth a buy.

I would definitely play GW:N. The thing is WoW sucks up your life. We all know it. That's why I came to Guild Wars (I don't even remeber how I could've compared the two games, but everyone seems to do so.), because of all the comments I've read, it can be a casual game, a hard core game, or a leave your char and chat game.

Worth buying? Absolutely, positively yes.
If you're only going to buy 1 Guild Wars, make it a Nightfall.

I agree. GWP and GWF sucks in comparrison to the might that is GWNF.
I dont think I will ever start a tyrian or canthan character again! lol.
OP: What do you want us to say? How the hell do you expect people to be objective on a guild wars forum? your going to hear biased opinions. of course people here like GW better than WoW. Otherwise they would all be playing WoW instead.
And that is how I feel aswell. I dislike WoW, but like GW due to... I dont wanna say all the reasons because its been said a million times. But besides your not interested in that. you dont wanna hear that.
you already know that there is no auction house. you just want us to convince you to either buy the game or something.
Seriously. just go back to wow. have fun standing in IF while LFG for raid!111
