I would agree that a part of storage for special items, miniatures, hats, etc would be nice.
So to get the item all you need to do is be in the area?

People aren't bitching about the gifts, they are bitching about the shoddy implementation.
Someone can offer you a nice lobster dinner for free but if it's covered in cow snot that kind of detracts from the meal

I have a schedule figured out for my characters (I think 6 will get the item this time round). I will stay up for the first one to see if it counts towards deaths... then afk for the second one---get some sleep, miss a few inbetween, and get the last 4 or 5 (if I am lucky)......now to just get each of my characters to LA or kamadan for the event b4 it begins.....just a few hours to go....guess no grinding for the next day!

Well they didn't change it. You've got 8 more tries for ALL of your characters.
Good luck to you collector types out there for getting these on all of your characters, you're going to need it.
Best suggestion is start in as low a district as possible and then hop about 5 or so districts up with your next character. they seem to run about 3-4 min behind each other as a rough guess. So if all you want is the hat then that is your best bet. That being said good luck in getting into the last districts as they will be packed.

I thought everyone knew - The districts cascade.
District 1 starts first, then district 2, etc. So once the event ends in say..district 2..Its still going on in say..district 10. you district hop and go again
During ONE VISIT I was able to get both prizes on my character and attend a few "extra" ones for the gifts.

Sometimes less is more for these events. I think every1 would've been happier with just one hat, now ppl have to district hop to get the numebr they want.
I managed to get three hats this time, but it was close, many of the higher numbered districts were all full after he left the lower districts.

You know I'm rather shocked at how many people come through threads and scream stop your whining, or stop your btiching, or stop complaining. When did we go from being able to voice an opinion to being unable to do so without people calling it whining?
Should it be so wrong that we as players ask our game devs to give us a little lead way when it comes to holidays? Should we have to chose between our friends and loved ones or that special event item? I know when I was a kid I loved going out on Halloween with my older brother (personally I just loved the candy but watching him kick the crap out of people trying to steal my candy was fun) and now that I have a chance to relive the experience with my little cousin I have to find away to juggle around the game I love? It just doesn't seem like a good policy to leave the family oriented folks out in the snow.
As a quick heads up, getting killed by the king does not add to your death count, you don't have to do anything but be in the large green circle to get your hat, prizes are given for doing what he tells you, and there are two different hats. The wicked hat (witches hat) at Kamadan and the Furious Crown (angry Pumpkin Crown) at LA. Hope that helps out.

WEll, I tested it, deaths don't count. So if you are working on your survivor title during the event you can die as much as you want.
And I did attempt to jump to Kamaden to get the hat on one character, and it seems that it is a bit tough to do, the higher number districts fill up fast after the first ones are done, so a lot of people are going there. You can't get in, except for the lower numbered districts which are empty because the Mad King left.

The events should be given on more time like over the entire weekend before or after, or 2 days before and 2 days after for a total of 5 days. The reason I say this is that I myself have 8 characters on one account and for me to make the event with them alone will not be possible. Not to mention we are all not in the states. The event will not start until 9am local time on a work day. Not fun.
One mad 24 hour rush? No thanks.

The cascade doesn't always work with lower-numbered districts finishing before higher-numbered districts. This morning I was in d6 LA on one account and d25 LA on the other (two comps set up next to each other ftw), and the d25 event started and finished before the d6 event.

I really don't care, I'm just leaving my characters AFK to get the wicked hat for my Nightfall characters. next event I have five characters that don't have any special event hat so they get them... I don't need to take up more inventory space on my old characters that have Tengu helms, dragon masks, horns or yule caps, and pumpkin crowns already, and now that I saw the "Furious Pumpkin Crown" I'm glad I didn't bother, I think the old ones look better.

Beggars can't be choosers.
The analogies you guys use are amusing. Snot covered lobster dinner? What if Red Lobster sent out tickets to everyone saying free dinner Friday night. It's not their duty to make sure everyone can make it. Family or GW? C'mon are you really struggling with that decision?
