dont expect ANet to change it back to black, though...
it is, of course, "impossible"

Ok, i'm spamming now, sorry about that; but after a brief reflection, i need to add something...
It is a firm conviction of mine that Arenanet does care and that they might just decide to fix our little dye problem. I don't know if you've watched the making of GW Nightfall, but anyone who suspects they don't should watch it.
It's obvious that they are passionate about what they do and, as an artist i can say that there is nothing that a true passionate artist wants - needs - more than to please the recipient of their art, be it a player, a reader, or whatever the case may be.
Have faith, by God!

I just used one, it does seem like the new black dye is slightly less dark, and slightly more indigo.

Black is disappointing. I'm not liking what I see in the dye preview window when I use it. I also don't like how using two of the same color makes things brighter (even black). Makes it hard to achieve a really dark color. I ended up making a fake black (purple + green) for my new 15k necro armor. It came out darker than black would've made it, so I'm happy. Sadly it's not dark on all armors though.
I have to find new cool dye combinations. I can't make any of my old colors cause I used Dye Remover a lot in their formulas.

My black one changed back to gold. I deleted it out of frustration... and the fact that I don't use it.

Hey, there,
Sorry, I was in the game telling people about... black dye! How's that for coincidence?
The black dye has been tweaked, as per your suggestions, and I bet you'll find it a lot more pleasing now. Please give it a look and let us know what you think.
Oh, and just so you're aware, we are still working on the stacking issue, but it will be fixed and dyes (old, new, or a combo) will stack. I've passed along the monastery credits and commendations aren't stacking for some, as well, and I'm sure the programmers will make fixing that a high priority.

problems with new dye on necro obsidian armor
I do like what they did to fix black looks great but when I put it on my obsidian armor for my necro I still see an outline of the original red color and when I zoom out it looks much worse Its driving me crazy
i spent months working for my FOW armor and now its ruined .
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
: )
I think it might be a bug but im not sure
if it was fixed it would look a lot better than with the old dye

Hello Gaile
Yes, i have just now loaded my husband's necro and noted the difference. It's beautiful! Thank you very much indeed. I could hardly believe it. That is why i came here right away to tell everyone.
I understand that you (the Arenanet team) must have lots to do when a new chapter comes out and appreciate it all the more.
Now, i wouldn't want to seem ungrateful in any way, but although the necro suit looks amazing, the outline of his head thingy on his ritualist's armor is still blue instead of grey (as is on the rest of his armor). Not the end of the world, but i just wanted to let you know since you asked
But, all in all, very happy indeed
I want to thank you very much for taking the time to reply to my message, and would like to take the opportunity to express my appreciation for all the hard work all of you have done.
The result is amazing. The game is wonderful. The experience, imcomparable.
Thx again!
Sincerely,
Misery

Yea before the update black, looked faded, a little subdued, now however it is as black as black could ever be. Atleast on my Ranger Druid armor, I bought 15k pieces last night and had to re-dye everything since nothing matched the new pieces. I think it looks kinda silly being so black though. Atleast on that particular armor.

do keep in mind that not every inch of the armor is dye-able...some parts will never change color.

Yep, very dark and quite nice. Too bad it still doesn't mix well with other colors. Would be nice to actually get a dark color and not just a slightly darker color with black(s).

Gaile, black dye is still not real black. On my dervish armor it still looks like very dark blue. Here is a screenshot:
Top of screen is from PvE event. Down is a current look.
Left side of screen is non tweaked. I did some light "correction" on right side to better spot difference/actual colors.
Example from top (PvE event) is black (after lightning it up - its gray).
Example from bottom (actual) is just very dark blue, not black

yes yes i know about areas on armor that are not affected by dye but this is different these little areas of red should not be there. It looks as if some had colored in a picture but did not stay in the lines

Yeah they still need to suck all the color out of it otherwise not only does it not look like true black but it also does wacky things when mixed with other dyes.

My favourite teal mix is still working like before - the only drawback right now is the complete lack of dye remover which used to create one unique silver shade that is now impossible. I tried every combination with white and or gray - just won't ever look like the old one. Having unique ranger armor is swell, but I wanted to expand the collection with 2-3 more pieces. >_<
If anyone has vials of dye remover left (I ran out) please give me a PM.

Across all my characters I have four armour sets dyed black and none changed in NF. Even my necro with her red+purple sets didn't change.
