Default heroes or henchmen?

the big question--which do you prefer-heroes or henchmen?

besides being able to give your heroes weapons and giving them a good build, i still find myself using, and liking, henchmen alot more. to me heros are a hastle to maintain. if you dont constantly flag them they run and do stupid things. and alot of times if you arent controling their skills for them they use the build wrong--example--echo nuker--i set zhed up as e/me to echo meteor shower. now unless im constantly watching what he does, he'll echo skills such as flare and have no energy management even though i have fire and elemental attunements on his bar. theyll also decide to use meteor shower on things such as an enemy spirit of favorable winds which gave me a good laugh. dont get me wrong, i do like and have every hero and like some aspects of them more than henches, but in the end ill settle with a party of henchmen to go questing or farming lightbringer points. how about you?

Combination. I have my favorite heros (Koss is not on the list, nor is Dunk) and, if need be, fill out the team with complementary henches.

I use 3 heroes, and the rest hench (or less heroes and no hench if with players, etc). I try to give my heroes skillbars that require the least amount of capable management (they really aren't too clever) - though I play with the bars open so I can manually command them if needed.

Heroes, all the way. The only regret is that we can only take 3 heroes. And that we can't use our other slot characters as heroes...

i (heal/prot monk) usually go w/ 3 heros:
alcolyte sousuke - fire ele w/ ward against melee (echoing fails pretty miserably on heroes)
olias - MM w/ br
melonni - scythe mastery w/ no enchant removal

henchies:
mhenlo as back up healer
eve necro hench
mes hench
devona

although i just got noguna (sp?) the mes hench who i can actually skill as interrupter, so i might end up dropping melonni

flagging-wise, i don't bother to flag them. we just all charge in leeroy style lol. unless it's 3-4 milling groups, then i'll pull.

Always henchmen, unless the specific build needed is not available by henchmen (i.e. Minion Master, SS, Spoil Victor, etc.)

Question, I'm still waiting on NF to come in so I'm not sure how heroes work. Can a full group of players each bring their heroes, or only the group leader?

The party number is fixed, Warrior, so if you can only have six 'people', that includes heros in the count as well. Generally speaking, whoever has the highest level hero should bring (if agreed upon, of couurse) or if a certain build is needed/wanted.

Ok that makes sense. Otherwise a group of 8 players could add 24 heroes. Man if you could do that, and have one be a minion master, and all rangers secondary (bring pets), sheesh you'd have an army LOL

Boy nothing could stop ya then, FOW would be a picnic spot ..lol

I would say I prefer henchies as well as heros has a specific command ablity and one in particular Goren and The Master of Whispers. They run off and do thier own thing even ignoreing thier flags and Demoni Dervish heros is to low lvl.I am haveing a hard time with defending Kodash Bazaar.
