I'd be very much up for a year. Assuming that Ch 4 is made primarily by the Factions team, and since Factions is half a game, they'd need twice the time. Plus I have a buttload of toons to take through NF now, and 8xSunspear/Lightbringer point accumulation + I like to do every mission/quest available on all toons, a year will be what it takes.......

Ummm...with respect...but in a year and a half most people will have lost interest in GW and there's no guarantee of an equal or greater number of new people joining in.

Anyways...GW4 will be called: Guild Wars: Orr.

Those Orr fellows seem like they were cool people. Now they're just annoying Skeletal Rangers who mob me at unfortunate times. *lol*

It was said that Chapter 3 was a kind of completion of a trilogy. So how do we know there will even be a chapter 4? What if it's a new game entirely? Guild Wars is called such because of the storyline based in the time after the last guild wars. So if this 'trilogy' deals with that storyline, then the next game might not even be called Guild Wars.

That's their problem... if you own all three chapters there are endless amounts of things to do. 1.5 years isn't even enough time to full explore every aspect of the game. unless you play for long hours on end.

If they were making a new series...I suppose they would tell us.

But then again, the name "Guild Wars" itself in my opinion isn't a very good name, because alot of the game doesn't even mention guilds, even though there are guild battles and such.

So your right, maybe the next game won't have the name "Guild Wars"....but if they were making an new series, they would definatly tell us.

That's actually a pretty good point. The whole "Guild Wars" name doesn't even fit into the "current" game mechanics; it actually refers to a period of lore that took place before even Pre-seering Ascalon (before the land was united under the king).

Course, they should keep with the current game play mechanic and call the name "Guild Tag" or "Whack-a-monk"... then at least the game play and name would actually fit what we do in game.

The original post was using a train of thought that discovered the progress of the fourth game based on the name. I would always give my stories titles very close to finishing them. Basically, the title is more of a marketing feature that doesn't have to be completed until the important parts of the game are done. Single words can be swapped in and out using a thesaurus or something similar. No title doesn't necessarily mean no story has been written.

If you don't believe that, you can swap in Guild Wars: Revelations, Apocalypse, Alliance, or Twilight for any of the other names in the series and see how that fits the game. And to also replace any uses of the current title in character dialog, etc

And it's your problem if you dont like the current schedule of Chapter releases. And second, you obviously dont understand the business strategy of releasing a chapter every six months, if ANET isnt making money there would be no more GW.
