Stop bitching and use that brain... Dye on metal looks different than dye on cloth or on leather. It is more natural now.

Lol, yup going to have to agree with you on that. I have a tendancy to horde dye simply because you never know when you (or a guildie) might need a bottle or two (or five). I hope they fix the glitch that doesn't allow them to stack simply because I don't want to use 2 characters to hold all my dye lol.

Edit: Scratch that, fixed now. (tested again cause it didnt work for me first thing this morning) wooohooo!

Using Dye remover was the same as using the base color. It simply made it more transparent (ie: it shows the base color through). So if you mixed red+green on a Luxon Necro, it would look exactly the same as dye remover + green.
So the lack of dye remover should make no difference.
I love the new Dye setup. Now adding multiple of the same color adds to the saturation! sweet!

Thanks mods for deleting my reply to this guy yet leaving his nasty reply alone.

People LIKED the nice colors we were able to make and not these muddy drab ugly colors. If Anet wants to have dull colors then add a "dull dye" to merchants and give the people who wanted thier bright, pretty dyes back.

This new dye update is horrible and violently ugly!

Oh and as to "natural" on metal obviously you've never worked in jewelery where you can enamal metals and use other methods to make colors that are VERY bright.

hehe, can something be so ugly, it's violent? OW MY EYES!!! hehe
But seriously, you might want to try using more dyes to get the color you are looking for. By this I mean, if you think the red dye is too "drab" try 2-3 reds. I noticed that now multiple colors add to the saturation. Personally, I don't see a saturation problem in the new dyes. I acctually think there are more options. And I like hoe silver adds to the contrast & grey lowers it. So many options now!

Hi,

Yes, dyes are now stacking. Just wanted to make extra sure that everyone knew that.

And yes, you have many more colour choices now, both in individual colours and in combinations. Saturation variances is just part of what will impact this. And the preview window is one of the best features added! The options now offered will increase the personalization of our characters by a significant order of magnitude.

I haven't seen what your talking about. I like the new dye update and I don't find it horrible or violently ugly at all. You just need to play around with the dyes to get the color you want.

I am interested in seeing what improvements each dye has undergone. If you have pictures plz post.
well now all sets dye the same color if u're using the same mix, i might want to re-dye my mes armors black cos previously diff armor sets with diff textures (lets say 'silk', 'leather', 'brokade', 'satin' and so on) dyed darker or lighter, or just plain diff color depending on the texture..... overall dyeing armors become less surprizing but also less interesting, 'cos alot of nice colors and texture effects were lost but oh well

The only thing I would change about it is that you actually have to have 3 of all the colors to play around with all the combinations. It would be nice if you could use virtual dyes to find the color you like, then just buy the ones you need once you determine your formula. For me, I have stacks of most colors, but this would be very nice for the budget minded people trying to get the most of what resources they have.

I have the Kaineng Center Shing Jea armor & I got 2 brown dye drops...I used them on the chest & legs & it looks REALLY nice I like the contrast with the boots & gloves...they have yellow+dye remover mix on them which barely changed the shade of the way they used to be when crafted (before they went with the all gray armors....

I'll try to remember to put a screenie up, but it adds a nice contrast to the tribal swirls that are on the chest & side because it stays the light tan color. At some point I'd like to add black to see how it looks with dark brown, but I'll probably just wait, I may get 15k armor if I like playing the ranger well enough. He's only lvl9 right now.

HER reply. I can't see anything "nasty" on my reply, it's just my opinion. You are acting just like the majority of the players after ANY update. "Omfg I hate taht change it back you suckers you....." Just accept the changes the way they are. You can keep your "Dull dye" opinion but without ranting and swearing.

I don't know if anybody thought of this, but i was messing around looking at what weapons would look like with dyes etc and i tried grey on the chaos axe.. lol.

So you dye your chaos axe grey and you're happy, but you can never have the green/blue colour again because there is no dye remover.. ;\ unless you mix dyes which are close to the original colour.

I took a screeny of the chaos axe dyed grey, liking the box around it.

Well for some reason mine aren't... I gotta admit, I'm the only one in the entire guild though.

What a relief that the new dyes now stack with the old.
Except, oddly, one lone new orange dye I found just doesn't want to jump in with the other vials of orange.

Sorry Gaile, but they may have been at 04:00GMT 27-10-06 but as of now they don't stack at all. Neither do Imperial Commendations.

I've just tried, again, to place a newly acquired Red dye (from Elona) into my existing stack of 25 (from Tyria & Cantha) and it won't take. The two, the single dye and the stack, just swap places with each other.

Nice job on Nightfall though, barring the odd little teething problems.

I have not yet tried to stack my dyes....however I have noticed dye dropping more often. Also, when I left today, White was at 64k.

Default White Dye = Nerfed?

I was with a friend who just dyed her FoW white. I brought my mesmer to look at hers, and I noticed hers is not so white. She used the same white dye on the same armor. I dyed mine the first day white dye came out, she dyed hers today, 2 days after White was introduced. Has white dye been dulled a bit?

The Blonde mesmer is using the dye from the first day it came out, the burnette is using the white dye of today.

Even in trade screen, her white seems to be duller than my armor. Has white dye been dulled down since the first day? Why is it like this?

That wouldn't be 8 more slots of your newly upgraded storage would it?

Oh no wait, I actually dreamed that they'd upgrade storage in-line with having three chapters worth of equipment, armour, weapons, dye etc.etc.

It would appear so. I don't see why they would dull it though, white isn't supposed to be silver, it's supposed to be white.

That would suck, and needs to be fixed quick. Before people waste their 30k gold on less-than-white white dyes.
