As we all know, only a small fraction of players visit forums. And happy and content players are less likely to vote in some poll about the enjoyment/frustration of a game. They're more likely to be playing the game than to vote in a poll like that.

True enough, but with that in mind you still might get a better understanding of just how many irritated, frustrated, etc people there are out there, knowing that they will be vastly over-represented compared to the satisfied customers.

I'll have to disagree. When I loved the game I always had a guru window opened in the background. You apparently love Nightfall but you're here posting.

You're not the typical GW player. You're a typical forum goer. Just because you do something, doesnt mean everyone else does it too.
And I'm here posting because I'm "working" and not at home on my gaming computer.

I didn't say everyone does it because I do. I do believe however that if you are truly into GW, then you at least visit the forums to learn and discover new things to do. Just like you, people who enjoy the game have times when they are not playing and may choose to visit the forums. Let's just say it's 50/50 and stop there since this is way off topic.

Trvth Jvstice, you definitely did help to give a different perspective, at least I felt so personally. I think we have folks here who are either bored/dissatisfied with the gameplay or the game mechanics. The gameplay (referring to what a player/character can do or not and this usually excludes gfx, sound and story) is still as it was while the game mechanics (specifically the AI) has been changed to what most were unwillingly to adapt to. For me, it's the lack of variety in gameplay thats bores me, I actually find the game mechanics changes fine so far. I do not, however, think that GW ever had spectacular AI to begin with; the AI never had much of a personality, all mobs were pretty much just doing the same thing so I didn't expect too much out of it.
From this past few months of playing GW, I've seen alot of UI improvements (or at least attempts) by ANet. However, gameplay improvements seem to be almost non-existent. As I have basically no idea whether the current AI was changed to become what had been intended or not, so I'll refrain from commenting too much on it; all I can say is that it's better not to fix what's not broken. It may be just as what most of the people who disagree have pointed out, GW probably won't take a radical change. Coincidentally, I'm just hoping for a firm answer from ANet as to which direction they feel GW will be going. If no changes are gonna take place to the core gameplay, then perhaps I should really move on to something else.

Sid.. you need to understand somthing and i will say this withought flaming at all....
Do not assume that just because players dont visit forums that they are instantly loving the game. Most players i would assume either dont like the changes but choose to do nothing.. or they just dont care cause they dont play to often.
So for you to assume that they are on your side when they dont post is like a canidate saying that all the folks in america that did not vote.. agree with his views and he can count them as votes.. thus it is very simply put.. a terrible statment on your part.
and i have seen most of your posts in this thread and yes with a few execptions they have all been trolls.. so please stop driving this thread off topic with your argument inciting banter..
Now back on topic. of the who else is bored thread..

Here is my input: I'm also sort of tired of the game, but what I do is I just take a break and then come back later on. That's the whole beauty of having a no monthly fee online game isnt it?
Making a general "I'm bored" thread serves no real purpose other than to vent frustrations. Most of the posts here don't even specify why they are bored. Just general complaints such as "I cant farm. I'm bored"
A thread such as this will invite strong opinions from the opposing side. If you're willing to post your frustrations then you can't be so sensitive when people strongly disagree with you. Calling people who disagree with you, but otherwise have been civil is childish.
I'm suprised that this thread wasnt deleted on sight. There are plenty of other complaint threads that address specific problems already. Yes I'm bored. Some people are bored. But do we really need a thread on it? It's embarassing really.

Well, since this is a forum, we can post threads with what we feel. People here are sensitive when people strongly disagree, cause this is a thread to people who ARE bored, not to people who just come here to call us whiners and try to get their post count up or just try to make themselves look good. These people have not a single reason to post here.
A thread is 'needed', there's a chance that A-net reads this and decides to do something or at least think about it - after all, this IS a forum and people are free to post their ideas and how they feel about the game. perhaps A-Net will give us mass farming (what they call 'grinding') back, or at leasts gives us something to do after we beat the game/are bored of doing missions or quests.
And no, working on titles doesn't count, cause that requires gold and to get gold you have to grind (Unless u wanna do missions over and over and over and over and over again just to get a minor amount of gold)

Human nature - dissatisfaction, more often than satisfaction, are expressed.
This is true for any product.
Not only that, people tend to inform more people about a dissatisfaction than they would about a product they are satisfied with. And yes there is science behind it. Any first year communications major can tell you.
This is also why word of mouth compliment is the most powerful form of advertising. It is rare and it is seen as sincere.
So yes it is true, most people don't get on the forum if they are happy.
Forum for most products tends to be a complain medium.
Why is that? Because if you are not happy you want to do things that will change the status quo.
If you are happy, then there is no need. Basically, there is a perceived benefit to complaining while benefits from complementing is not quite direct and immediate.
Not to mention, there is an assumption people like to get on forums. Every guild I have been on, members who participate in forums are the minority.
Also, the ratio of lurkers vs active posters is normally highly biased towards lurkers. Meaning, the majority of visitors of this forum are lurkers and not posters. In this forum, I would say less than 10% are actual active posters.
Notice most the same people posting majority of the time?

This is why many of us are posting here; in hopes that Anet will respond and let us know when we can return though. I've quit playing, I can't stand the AI anymore. However, I just spent $50 on the purchase and would like to know when and if I am able to finish the game. When they (Anet) respond and let us know when and if this is going to be fixed, then it will drop. I am however not going to just go away and "waste" $50. I'm going to at least get an answer on when I can expect a fix, or told by an Anet rep; "it's working as intended"... at which case I already have my next course of action lined up.

There's more to it than that, read the posts, don't skim them. There are many listed details.

Deleted or closed, wouldn't matter. Another would pop up in it's place untill Anet responds. Banning? Create new account and post again. These forums are the only contact we have with Anet. Any direct way to voice issues gets us pushed back here again.
I agree, it's very embarassing. It should be, Nightfall just came out a few weeks ago; and we have these kinds of posts. It's utterly sad that we have to sit here and wait for Anet to figure it out... yea, it's embarassing; very much so. I completely agree with that statement.

Yes, people who are very much into GW will visit forums. That's not what we were discussing though. We were talking about the MAJORITY of players wouldnt bother with a poll about how dissatisfied they are with the game because A) most people DONT go to forums. B) If they are happy with the game why would they bother with the poll?
It's like how complaint threads are ALWAYS far bigger than praise threads.

While most folks will looks at this thread as venting frustration, they probably have mistook the purpose of it all. This thread serves as a place for bored players to discuss why they find GW boring or just as of late.
It's just like when you had mentioned that you're also bored, it may be more relevant that you state what you think may have caused such boredom. It can be a natural thing, people do get bored with a game no matter how good it is. That's the whole point of this thread, alot of heat has been going on because most people who disagree aren't willing to ignore.
For the last time, it's best for the bunch who disagree to ignore this thread. After all, we all share different feelings at this point, even the bored ones have different reasons as to why they are bored. While trying to help the situation by 'enlightening' may be due to good intentions, it's doesn't actually help anything. On the contrary, it just get things heated up making it worse. So help by ignoring, if you're also bored, it might be worthwhile sharing what's boring you. Take this as a brainstorming session or something.
To future posters:
P.S. If anyone have replied (agreed or disagreed anyone's post) that may have led to a flame or argument, that person's involved already. If you don't think you're equip enough tact to avoid an argument, it's really better not to post anything.

It's not coincidence imo we got the 'title thread' and 'ask your best question' thread by Gaile. We also have the tripple green drop weekend in Elona. Damage control has been started and I expect more is on the way.

Every issues always has two sides. Both sides belong no matter how much you hate it. Why should ANET only see one side?

I dont see what the coincidence is that you're trying to point out. We've always had special event weekends. And I'm not sure what titles have to do with anything.
And since when is Gaile asking for feedback some sort of indicator that it's damage control? And here I thought that they just listen to their customers like they do most of the time.

It does seem that the "throw a bone" damage control has begun... though it could be nothing more than something pre-planned. Either way, still bored and awaiting a fix. lol - this weekend event is bupkiss when the core game play sucks and is like watching ants be sprayed with water... "Run the sky is faling!"
I'm hoping they roll in a fix as they roll out the weekend event. I would like to finish the game at least before I move on to something else... I hate feeling like I wasted $50...

I hear people saying "The reason you're bored is because you ran the game into the ground." Well, that seems pretty obvious. Doesn't that show how much we like this game though?
I love Guild Wars, I have since I bought it, and right now it's my favorite game to play. Through that, though, I can recognize things that I don't enjoy, and my slowly growing boredom with the game. I still play, every day, but if not given something else to do besides PvP or just grinding the campaign again and again, I will eventually uninstall Guild Wars and cease to put my money into ANet's pockets. God knows they've earned my 170 dollars so far, but I can't continue if I know Guild Wars will be like any other game, beaten and bored with a few days/weeks later because I just liked it too much.
I'm against the farming nerf, as I stated before I was a farmer. It would really lessen the blow if my friends and I had some things to do in the game besides PvP or campaign grind. Farming for me was essentially a social act, and I hardly ever went solo. I would almost always go with a group of guildies and we'd talk, laugh, and have fun while picking up cool stuff and gold. Maybe it sounds corny, but I love most of my guildies. Now there's not much left to do with them but quest or do missions.

Of cos they do, perhaps more than just 2 sides. I'm fine with you disagreeing or being insistent on your point, I'm not really complaining about it at all. Some of our posts were deleted I think, I had apologised to you for the sarcasm I used because I was ticked off when you used "Ok kids" in one of your posts. What I'm trying to bring forth is that if the bunch of you who agree have the good intention to want to help the situation, it's appreciated (at least I do). However, it may not help with anything eventually, it's causing more of a misunderstanding. I'm sure you understand how difficult it is to recognize the tone of a post in the forum, it may be mispresented to most of us. All the heat is gonna make this thread less and less constructive than it could've been. Perhaps it's true that we've been too extreme about it, but I believe ANet would be interested to know what are the aspects of gameplay and mechanics that would have problems keeping up with some of the players' growing interests. Changes may not have to happen now, but it may be able to help them define a roadmap for the future chapters to come. I'm a supporter of GW, I also hope to see that future GW chapters being able to interest a larger group; that's why I hang around in the suggestion forum more often to read up on suggested ideas. The direction of the game is where I'm interested in.
