China is being seperated from all the other servers. Different rumors of why so don't know exactly what's going to happen with that.
WoW is a great game. My brother got it and I play when I'm at his home. I was really surprised after I got past the first few parts. Quest are repeatative. The PvP raids were fun without being overly strategic. I wouldn't pay monthly for any game no matter how good it is.
WoW and GW are very different styles of games and don't think they should even be in the same catagory.
Congratz Anet. Factions was pretty bad so that can only mean good things for Nightfalls.

yeah, remember that Enter the Matrix from Atari got a shitload of awards too, and even other ppl in the industry said it was only because of sales as the majority that played it thoguht it was crap. Faction SHOULD get GotY. It's sales were based directly off of the great success of Prophecies (op). The Factions team should hand the award to the Prophecies team or at least give them a thank you(op) :-)
EDIT: Of course to be fair, Factions' artwork, I believe, put Prophecies to shame by far (op). The Jade sea was wonderfully done as was Shing Jae. I still think they are even more beautiful landscapes than either of the other two. The gameplay design and implementation (from one player's perspective) utterly sucked though (op). I thought I'd point out all of this is made up of opinions and not fact in any way.

I'd agree that Factions is game of the year, fanboyism aside, because look at the games that actually came out this year D:

Quests are very repetative, infact the whole game as i remember playing it was just grinding over and over again. There wasn't a whole reason on doing things such as a quest, you just did them for exp and items. In my opinion the whole system of gameplay is broken. Everything is a grind. Its true the gameplay is different to Guild Wars. very much so and the PvP is very simple. Barely any stratagy involved. Its straight forward big damage, pressing buttons. How does this balance? Oh with Items you have to farm in raids that take forever. So items can make you better nor matter how much experiance you get.
I'm sorry but looking back on WoW, I've noticed how much on a time waster it really is. The funniest thing is that you had to wait to do PvP battlegrounds. I'm not talking a few mins, more like half an hour. I heard that it changed about a month ago, however WoW has been out for 2 years. Its simply disgusting.

I honestly can't tell for sure if you're talking about GW:Factions or WoW here. Based on confused context and the lack of 'faction' in the list of reasons for doing quests, I'm guessing WoW, which begs the question of how Factions is any different, any less, to use your term, "broken". Other than exp and loot, and precious little of the latter, what other reason is there for doing the thousand-and-one fedex quests around the city/marketplace/skyway? Skill points, I suppose, but I expect most people have even less use for those than they do for exp.
In any event... Factions, GOTY? I'm guessing someone at Anet knows how to throw really good parties and knows exactly whom to invite. That, or they have compromising pictures of the judges. Or perhaps both, the latter explaining the former, who knows?

Why would WoW be a game of THIS YEAR? It's not a 2006 game, Factions is. The Wow expansion isn't out yet, ergo it wasn't considered.
And why would Oblivion win an MMO AWARD?!
-.-

Nightfall is far more of a grind that Factions was. Factions was fast paced and challanging. It wouldn't have been voted for game of the year if it sucked.

Factions was good but it just needed more time to develop before releasing. However if Anet want suprise players they start doing big patches to previous games to improve them.

heh, 10-15% of 2.5 billion is 250-375million. If that many people had computers then it's quite possible that there are more people there with computers than there are total people in the United States alone. That should be enough to affect it.
