Guess Id be a "hardcore" player with a casual attitude. Play ALOT of hours/day, but dont get deep into game mechanics like some Ive seen, dont ever PvP(not even in Pre), barely farm, not even sure its farming if all you do is clear an area and pick up drops to sell, without being there for any onther purpose(no specific item, cap, ect).

Guild wars.. 1-2 hours per day or less.. Other games/chatting/chilling, 1-2 hours per day..

When I first got Propechies, I played ALOT, but I think when people gets bored like now, they stop playing that much.. GW don't suprise people anymore

I would consider myself a casual player.

I tend to play around an hour a time, some times I don't play for days, and some times I play for a few hours.

If one were to do an age of my characters, I have total play time of 230 hours and I started the day before GW was launched. I had the early access beta key, that works out to roughly 1 hour per day since the game was released.

I am still trying to finish the first chapter.

0-9 hours per week = someone just messing around on the comp killin' time
10-19 hours per week = casual gamer
20-39 hours per week = gamer
40+ hours per week = hardcore gamer

Didn't bother to read it all so maybe someone else posted something similar :S But I figure if you're putting in as much time on a game as a full time job thats a hardcore gamer.

Lol i actually dont play much anymore and when i do its like death training so iam only checking in every few hours or reseting my guy or what not. I consider the hardcore gamers to play like +6 hours a day.

I play maybe 1 or 2 hours on weekdays and 2 to 4 on weekends. I *do* have a pretty active life too, and I already feel that gw has been interfering a bit too much. Around 1350 hours total in 16 months.

I guess that's an average though... There have been periods where I played 3 hours weekdays and 6 hours on the weekends as I was gaining rank and gvging, but now I've pretty much settled down on RA and pve until my life becomes less busy.

I play GW just about as much as possible (untill recently because I've started playing Oblivion again ). Anywhere between 0 and 5 hours on weekdays depending on what I have to do, and just about the whole weekend (excluding when I have to eat or sleep ) I'd say in all, that's....too much... Wow I really need to play less....

no criticism but stop for a minute and seriously think that she could be gone tomorrow.

nah, was "pre-school" time during those hours. Like your cat who wants your attention during "game time"... it's not possible to actually play when she wants the attention or is home (mischief)... besides; she's always more fun to do things with. GW was the "dead time" when she wasn't home...

Weekends were nice because that's when the wife said it was "girls time". Go figure.

But yes, I know exactly what you mean. Parents that miss those moments of smiles are missing out... nothing better than those moments.

Edit: of course there was also the late night gaming as well... we all know the ones where you are "feeling" the side effects for a few days after you were "dumb enough" to stay up till 3am and had to get up at 5am...

I wouldn't say hours has anything to do with "what kind of gamer" you are. It's all to do with HOW you play Guildwars, and what you spend the time doing. OK After a certain number of hours its going to end up being a bit more "hardcore" than your average player, but that limit is pretty high.

Some people use Guildwars as MSN with swords, just sit and chat with friends and do occasional quests.

Others don't chat at all and just play the game.

I guess i'd be a bit of both although i probally play Guildwars 10-35 hours each week, depending on real life issues. I've recently moved house and in the last month have played maybe 10 hours lol.

Gamer A: One week plays 10 hours of GW, in that time wins HOH and plays Highly rated GvG matches with the worlds top guilds (for example).

Gamer B: One week plays 30 hours just sitting with friends chatting. (for example)

whos the more "hardcore" ?

EDIT:

And to all you "I'm sad i play 20 hours a day ;-(" people...

at least your not sat in a dark room playing a single player rpg all day, your on an ONLINE game interacting with other human beings.

(you can use that as an excuse to your wives/girlfriends/mothers etc to play more gw if you like)

@OP - yes, you should let Admins Bane turn this into a poll for you. People who don't feel like posting will still do the poll.

On Topic - If asked I would say I was a casual gamer as I have no hard and fast goals. I have 1671 hrs on GW over 9 months. Roughly calculated that is over 40 hours a week. I usually game about 2-4 hours weekdays and more on weekends. But I have eight characters of whom only two have completed a chapter. I don't do PvP.

But I have a full-time job, friends, do errands for my mother, read several books a week, spend time with family, etc. What I don't do is watch TV. It seems to me that that is most peoples main spare time occupation. Try asking non-gamers how many hours they spend in front of the television.

What I have given up since the advent of GW in my life, is some of the time I used to spend reading and playing other PC games. My reading is now mostly restricted to new books and less to re-reading old ones.

For me it really depends, Im really busy a couple of days of the week, but on tuesdays and thursdays i am completely free after 12:30 - So on those days i can be on anywhere from 1 hour - 10 hours. Just depending on how much i want to play.
