Way to completely miss the point. I wasn't comparing the "level", I was comparing that both of them are clearly PvP arenas, and having non-player objectives, or even a non-player PRIMARY objective, does not disqualify them from such.
The fact that people consider them PvE is ridiculous.
Quote:
The attacking of the other team actually hurts your progress in these missions more often than it helps it. Instead of doing the obvious PvE goals like running amber or such they are too caught up in 1v1 whammo fights. No more than half the team should ever have to actively fight the other team the duration of the mission.
Here's a reality check: One ranger can pin the turtle squad indefinitely. Ignoring persistant amber runners is a terrific way to lose. The simple fact is that you have to push through the players to reach the objectives on either side, and simply "going for the objectives" and ignoring the players will often just get you dead. Never mind if the Kurzicks have so much as one monk, in which case you NEED to get a decent spearhead to kick down the gates.

jade and amber arn't exactly hugely valuable anymore. when i used to go play FA we'd get leechers probally at least 1 all the time not something thats an issue.
leechers are just inferior lesser skilled gamers with short attention spans, feel good that your superior and actually play.
I'm pretty sure they've already given us their stance on it before, something like "leeching is lame and sad that it takes place, but they are not violating the UELA so there's nothing we can do about it."
If people are leeching, just leave. They can't gain any faction if everyone leaves and will just be wasting their time.
What a cop-out. Who cares why people play the map? Last I checked, GvG doesn't give ANYTHING exchangable for money, so perhaps there's a bit more to PvP than getting rich?
As far as "not violating the EULA", I looked up the post, it seemed more like they didn't really have a method for looking up activity records of that sort. The EULA not covering something isn't a problem, they can update the EULA/TOS any time they want.

The comment about removing FA and JQ, I dont agree with. I actually like them now. I didnt at first because, but then I completed all 3 games and I was bored.
Now im trying to increase my luxon faction level to get higher titles. This means im obviously spending every waking hour in FA just continually playing that challenge.
I originally posted this thread because the constant number of leachers astounded me. Ranging from 1 leacher to actually about 4 in a team.
There was even one point when we only had 1 member attacking, while 2 had left and the rest were leaching.
But I have to admit my attitude has somewhat swayed to appreciating why they do it.
Ive spent the last 2 weeks in there, playing over and over and over and over again. The constant grind just gets to you. I really want a higher luxon rank, or to alteast reach "friend of.." but its going to take constant fighting and its loosing its apeal.
There has been a few times myself when ive pressed "enter battle" and actually just walked off and not given it a thought. I know its wrong, but when youve done that thing 100 times, you stop caring to be honest.
This makes me a complete hypercrit I know going by my original post, but in a way Anet incourages this by making us grind for titles.
Can you honestly imagine someone playing properly, constantly, 100% of the time, through FA until they got the max title?
I very much doubt it. No one could possible play FA continually until they had the max title. They would have to resort to leaching at one point or another, just to give themselves a break.

You do realise that the max title is 10 million points right?
At one stage I actually tried leeching continuously for a week. At the rate of 20K faction a day to max the title would take 2 years. 24/7.
Leeching in PvE should not be penalized, it's the group's fault for taking idiots.
In PvP, there should be a penalty...
I think that is very unfair. There is no way to know when you form a pug if a member is going to leech. I have had people join my teams and been perfectly chatty and involved until we enter a mission and then leech from that point on. Sometimes even taunting the group about it.
Obviously if a leader takes someone they know to be a leech from past experience then it is their own fault.
I always try for a group consensus to go back if a person is abviously leeching. A leech can profit by their actions as they can move through the game, get rewards etc.
If you can provide me with a way to screen out leeches from a pug before entering a mission, and you seem to think I am an idiot for not being able to do so, then I would be genuinely pleased if you would share it.
technically, no, if the player is sitting in front of the computer, and clicking "enter" every time.
However, in most cases, these users are using third-party program that automatically clicks "enter mission" whenever a battle ends.
Hence, what they are doing is clearly "botting", and DOES violate UELA.
A.net does not penaltize your account for purposely AFKing, but they DO have policy against third-party bots.
So yeah, I believe some form of action should be taking place in FA.

Well I'm surprised and not surprised that Anet doesn't care about leeching.
I'm surprised because they will do nothing even though this ruins an aspect of the game for many people. I hated my faction missions when I had 3/4 leechers - sucked the fun out of it.
But I'm not surprised as Anet can't think of any effective way to combat it so it's a case of - well it's ok and "works as intended" - using this as a cover statement.
They can make farming difficult so that allows them to say "farming=bad" but as they can't do anything about leeching they say it's fine to do that....

Double standards....hmmm....
Well perhaps you should try leeching then, you can't even get 2K for an ENTIRE NIGHT worth of leeching. With farming you can probably get 20K in an hour if you are lucky.

Different story altogether.
The difference isnt actually that huge. I tested it the other night.
The difference is only around 200-300 faction each time, even if you win.
Well i dislike Leachers there super annoying in there selfish ways but there is virtually no way to tell weither a person is leaching or not. A person could go afk to answer the door / phone etc. Anet cant tell whos is leaching and who isnt. Therefor they cant do alot about it.
One day, all the Leeches from both side perhaps will all enter FA together and get stuck there afk leeching each other for all eternity or until their computer self-destructs.

I will pray for that!
Actually for once the kurzicks actually win on that.
