Nowhere near Texas, but just to add my two cents, I'll be 60 in a few weeks, have been gaming for a LONG time, and have been in Guild Wars since the day the first game was released, along with my nineteen year old daughter. Have gotten some of my older kids and grandkids into it as well, although they don't play nearly as often.

BTW, my ex-neighbor's mom is in her eighties and an avid gamer and football fan. Kind of neat watching her taking on Madden on her console -- she's pretty good.

well, too west to be in texas and too 30-something to be 55 but i'm an npr listener and i heard their deal on gaming (the day or so after the ps3 came out) but didn't hear anything from 50+ gw players or i'd have remembered, is this a different piece they're doing?

i think it's awesome that there's people even older than me playing...just wish i got to play with some of yall (though i probably have...probably in those pickup groups that went incredibly well )

There are plenty of us "older" folks playing. In fact the Guild I am in (Lethal Old Farts) has a fairly strict age requirement of 30 and up.

I will pass along a link to this thread to my guildies and see if there is anyone near Austin that will fit the bill.

Could PR post the interviews on the internet aswell? I'd love to check them out, and I'm sure others would too.

Default GW? Bingo? GW? Bingo? GW? Bingo? I'll take.... GW!

Hi Gaile...

If you hear of a similar opportunity in Southern California I would love to hear about it! I'm a bonafide baby boomer.

I got into GW because a fellow 3D modeler recommended it. And he's in his mid-40s. As an artist (2D and 3D)(amateur), I was immediately sucked in by the exquisite graphics, modeling and mocap animation. Then the wit and wisdom infused in the game quickly got a stranglehold on me as well. I wasn't a gamer when I discovered GW. I've tried other games since, and I wouldn't say I'm a gamer now as much as I would say I'm a GWer. IMHO, GW is one of the top 10 experiences a person of ANY age can have on the internet.

When I discovered a fellow employee plays GW and told him I do too, he was surprised because he imagined he and his wife (in their early 30s) were in the older age range of gamers. I'm sending him the url to this thread immediately! *titters like a school girl*

I don't meet the criteria but I am close both ways. I am 53 years old. I live in East Texas about 5 hours from Austin. I have played Guild Wars for over 4000 hours across all characters over the past 19 months.

Hi, folks,

A Guild Wars players was interviewed by NPR today, and the interview will be on NPR as early as tomorrow! The program is called "Day to Day." We believe it airs at Noon daily in the Pacific Northwest -- times will vary in your region.

You should be able to pull the interview from http://www.npr.org/ in the near future as well. Many thanks to our kind Guild Wars player -- we are sure that she did an excellent job with this!

I found the article and the interview: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/s...toryId=6589941

Interesting demographics... players 50+ comprise 25% of the gaming market.

Enjoy!

Now that's my take on age and playing with my toys . Glad to see i'm not the only OLD FART playing GW (52 years young). I have been playing RPGs since the Ultima series on an Atari 800XL to playing the Elder Scrolls series (lost many hours sleep in Morrowind). I belong to an online gaming squad playing FPS games (i'm a pretty good sniper) and in GW i'm a Ranger/Monk (go figure, another sniper class , so to speak). I have all 3 parts of the GW series and impatiently await the next addition.
