No the variable profession idea is pointless and problematic. Who cares if you can change his profession? You have a Hero for each prof. How do you handle runes? Variable runes? How do you handle his weapons? What a nightmare.

A variable profession hero gains you abosolutely nothing since you already have completely configurable heroes for every profession except Rit.

If you had a variable prof hero the only thing you could do is take Razah everytime. But it gives you nothing extra as far as actual team builds, except to perhaps flesh out a few extra prof slots if you want 3 primary monks or something. But that would be far better to do by simply adding in other heroes in updates and expansions.

Once there are 3 heroes of each profession the variable hero idea is completely useless and causes unecessary problems and confusion.

The variable prof idea sounds cool at first but functionally adds nothing but problems

I suspect Anet came to this conclusion.

I highly doubt Razah will be Ritualist, Gaile didnt 100% confirm it. It would not make sense for NF owners to have to suffer with a useless hero. I doubt Anet is that illogical.

It actually does not make sense. Yeah - why make the Rit Hero Nightfall only, when you can only get the skills if you have Factions. Skill capping I guess. I love Rits though, and will be more than happy to have one. Still doesn't make sense to me - if I didn't have all three chapters, I wouldn't be happy.

From what I remember the manual said Razah was of an "unknown" profession. That doesn't mean variable does it? We already have 2 Warriors, 2 Monks, 2 Rangers, and 2 Necros... We need a Rit Hero as well.

Besides, like someone else commented, it would be almost impossible to keep up with Runes and Insignias if it was variable.

Actually, the manual lists his profession as "Variable". It lists the Master of Whispers' profession as "Unknown".

As to if it bothers me if Razah is just a ritualist, I dunno. I'll reserve judgement until I get him and know for sure.

She didn't in her Chat Logs ingame (She just said, he might be a Ritualist, but she doesn't remember), but on GWonline she did follow up that statement, with no uncertian words, saying that yes - Razah is a Ritualist but she cannot give anymore information than that.

So the arguement that she didn't confirm it is mute, but what you CAN speculate is the fact that she might not be giving us the whole story, like the idea that his profession is variable is still alive - She just confirmed that he is a ritualist she didn't confirm or deny whether that can be changed or not.

I still think he is just a ritualist though, it saves me grief. IF I think he is a ritualist and he turns out changable - Cool, but if he just turns out a ritualist I won't be setting myself up for disappointment.

In the same post she also confirmed that the new "Novel Armor" is for your Heros, not yourself.

My guess is that Razah's proffession will be chosen once you get to him. His proffession will probably be locked once you pick it.

I don't know where everyone got the idea that a variable profession would mean you could change his primary in an outpost. It sounded more like when you met him you could chose what he would form as.

there are skills - altho limited

Senlur and Myria are correct. I stand humbly corrected.

Variable WOULD work if you chose his/her/its profession once at the time you get the hero. Lock in the primary profession one time.

Personally, I still think it will be a Rit. I'm ok with that. Adding a Rit to the hero builds I already have can only make them better in most cases.

I can see a 2 person/6 hero build that would just OWN.

Its says late evening but thats late eveing PST so for me 3 in the morning saturday, in the scribe is says any day or hour???

suffer? useless? I dont know about you, but I think rits are very usefull!

they can heal, protect, deal a good amout of damg and solo alot of places.

Anet illogical? haha
