Money? Weapons? I mostly give away what I don't need to new players.

Its not hard to make money in GW, the problem is its extremely easy to spend it!

I took a year to earn my FOW armor and ive got 15K on my dervish.

My biggest pit fall, and I'm sure many others as well, is buying weapons/items that we really didn't need but wanted for the skin. Some times they turned into an investment, sold a Chaos Axe for 5ectos more than I paid, but I have also lost big on some items. Knaaxai's Axe anyone.........

There are two simple rules to follow if you want to be rich.

1) buy the cheepest max armor/weapons/offhand/runes and keep them untill better ones drop for you.

2) play the game for a long time and never buy anything other than the skills your really must have.

Good hunting and have fun

You consider that poor? Dang, man! I have about 1 plat in the bank at the moment. Most of my money is invested in various weapons, skills and armor my characters wield.

GW has become impossible for those without hundreds of platinums to play very deeply

gold is easy to make. Its true most are not fortunate enough to have been around prior to AoE's first nerf and the addition to rend enchants in UW along with many other nerfs. Now days make a ritualist and farm UW solo or FoW as a 2 man ( mainly for speed ). If you invest your money wisly into a farmer early in a chapter you'll never be broke.
all the info and secrets are right on here or any other fansite.

It all boils down to you have what you work for.

Ugh, collectors are your best friend. i have over 800k, and most of that is money i've saved up. i've never bought a rare skinned weapon, i only have one 15k set, and i rarely farm. invest in things you can, buy low sell high, ectos, new greens, endgame items, all the new things you should NOT buy, but you SHOULD obtain and sell. i sold my first two Books of Secrets for 80k each, and now they're 20k. you'll find you have alot more money if you spend ~10 mins collecting items for collectors, instead of spending ~30 minsm, 100k and ectos on a weapon. you DONT need perfect mods, if that -1hp will save you 25k, go for it, if having a little uglier weapon will save you 100k, go for it. GW is NOT about money, it's about functionality, you do not need alot of money to get by.

Stop whining about not enough money and look at http://gw.gamewikis.org/collectors

Running used to be the best moneymaker back in the heyday of prophecies, dunno what thats' like now with all these "unrunable" campaigns.

Drok's run can fetch quite the price but I don't know how easy it is to locate buyers.

i consider 200k+ alot of money. i have 15k armor on my 4 pve characters and at least one perfect weapon on each, like a req 9 20/20 +30 gothic dual axe. now i may appear rich, but i actually rarely have more than 20k at any given time. when i want something, ill save up for it and then blow all my money and do that over again. ive been playing for 8 months and i still dont understand how its possible for so many people to farm a million gold or more. i dont see how the whole "buy low sell high" thing works unless you spend hour after boring hour trying to haggle with small minded kids >_<

I know the feeling. I have twice as many orange dyes as any other color.

I just passes the 200 plat mark, but I have to admit that I don't try very hard. I made 100 plat during that first double rare chest weekend, but other than that, I go with the flow.

Ever notice how it costs approaching 300k just to get skills on one character? And that's assuming it's even possible to get that many skill points. *sigh*

Right. Some of us like to play the game in the little precious time we have. Farming is NOT that. You say 'go solo farm UW' like it's nothing -- as if most of us normal players ever even get close to a point where we could.

between hard currency and materials i'm probably pushing somewhere near 8 million. i believe the avg is 20-50k. but it drops with the release of each game as people reequip their chars. i got lucky with mine and learned to solo sorrows before they nerfed the 605hp monk

Why not? There are enough guides on how to do it and what skills you need ? If you don't want to put the time in. Then obviously you will not get the rewards. Its as simple as that. I do very little real farming. I just play the game and explore all the areas. But I have managed to get 5 of my 6 characters 15k armour. Got vaiours green for my characters and heroes. Have all but the bone dragon of the year 1 mini pets. And still have 100k+ in storage.

Looking at guides is not playing the game. Buying skills whenever I manage to get another skill point and finding ways to use it is.

I also would like to point out that my friends and I are still working on our first characters in Nightfall. We didn't finish Factions until the week Nightfall came out. The vast majority of players can't devote their lives to playing the game; Recall that Guild Wars had been intended to be the game that put people on equal footing in terms of function. I don't think the rate we play (roughly 8 hours a week) is under that curve very far. All of that time is spent enjoying quests and missions (which are essentially rewardless in monetary terms).

I don't have much, and I don't really care. 1.5K Kurzick goes with my character's Ponytail, and weapons don't matter. If I have enough to buy Signets of Capture every once in awhile, then I'm happy.

I always had real money issues in Phrophecies Factions was a little better but still i hardly ever had over 10k however Nightfall seems to be much better, ive finally got a steady supply of money come in , through the process of getting just 1 char through Nightfall without any farming, and only doing primary quests (except for while getting to sunspear rank 6) and i made about 50k just from selling everything to the merchants which finally allowed me to buy the Cathan greens i always wanted but could never afford. up till then all i had was phrophecies collector weopons

1. Buying and selling high-end items. You gotta recognize the potential sales value of something when you buy it, but it is not uncommon for someone to make 100K+ off an item in one night.

2. Running. The Droknar's run is the most profitable, but it also is the most time consuming. Some of the easier runs (i.e. Lions Arch to Sanctum Cay, Desert Tour, etc.) can generate over 10K per hour, which is very hard to match in farming.

3. Speculating on materials/holiday collector items. These are blips on the radar screen, but anticipating which materials will be used in upcoming chapters (or what collectable items will be used to get holiday items) can be highly profitable, and can generate enough gold to tide you over until the next chapter very easily.

I seen that it was going to beheld in both Tyria and Elona so I started buying those items for 10-12g each about a month and a half before halloween...had over 2500 of em sold all of the in the first 2 days for 75-100g each...u just have to take advantage of certain things that come along.... Like buy items that where used during Halloween...the seeds or spores or whatever cuz you can bet that they will be used again during Wintersday!
