I believe it's because of the different designers for each game (IE one team for Prophecies/Nightfall, another for Faction/CH4)
Maybe the Factions/CH4 themes will be like Day of Tengu/Dragon Festival, while Elona and Tyria is Halloween/Wintersday.

i believe the reason why they don't have it in Cantha is because they already have the design or whatever you programmers call it for Wintersday in Tyria and they will reuse it for this year. If they were to do for Factions they would have to design the towns in cantha and that would take up too much of their time.

This is really a silly post, I wonder where you got the assumption. There are many asians here that can prove your ignorance and I'm one of them.
Cantha should really be decorated, if not, folks that have bought only Factions will be deprived. I hate to think that they will be left out on Wintersday fun. Oh well, would be good if they could join in.

I'm thinking that the people who said there are different development teams, most of the holiday decorations are made for Tyria from previous Wintersday and the fact that Wintersday itself in lore is a Tyrian holiday, are all closest to the answer.
BTW, Factions doesn't suck. If anyone out there doesn't like it, they simply don't like it, unless they believe that their preferences are somehow a universal gauge of all quality.

ArenaNet hasn't touched Factions since the Dragon Festival. It's dead. They won't do anything more with it because no one buys it anymore. I'm actually suprised they still decorate Tyria.
Also, I seriously doubt they'll do something in Cantha during the Chinese New Year. Like I said: there's no profit involved. ArenaNet realized Factions was a flop and it is being seriously ignored now and forever more.
Who knows, A.Net might suprise me. If that's the case, I'll give 1 gold out to anyone here that asks me (Like you're suppose to do for Chinese New Year). But like I said: it won't happen. :/

It only makes sense. Elona and Tyria get 2 holidays and Cantha gets 2 holidays.
If you want ALL the holidays and items then you have to get all the chapters.

^Agreed. Every continent has 2 holidays based on theme.
And the coming event is Wintersday, an event of Tyrian people in game, and it takes place at same time with the Xmas holiday in real life.

Does anyone actually have Factions only? I mean, if they joined GW at the Factions stage and liked it, they will have bought Nightfall/Prophecies. If they didn't like it then they're probably not playing it and not interested in Wintersday.

Im pretty sure that if EVERY continent gets it's own ANNUAL holiday, everyone will be happy.
1. Tyria : Christmas
2. Cantha : Chinese New Year / Other (im not too knowing on Asian Holidays)
3. Elona : Depends on what Elona is based on, i cant tell.
I've made a second option
It is very far fetched but, i kinda like it.
Make a universal Roleplay Holiday.
As in the holiday ties in with the world, every continent, so that every continent can celebrate a holiday without complaining about differences.
It's hard to find a suitable date for every continent, because i dont have a whole calander from Factions, anyhow, i think the most significant date is;
The Gods give magic to all races.
Done, everyone had, everyone loved it, everyone still loves it.
Holiday. Just needs a name.

I think it's kind of a load of crap.
The only reason Cantha had the Dragon Festival and Day of the Tengu (which if you remember all quests/hunting had to be done on Shing Jea Island (aka. noob island)) is because Factions was still new and the newest expansion so of course they were going to give it an event. Who knows if they'll ever do those two events again.
I think it's BS that they don't atleast decorate for the event or atleast throw in an NPC to grab items after collecting stuff, etc... They could be a bit more fair. I know I'd love to do stuff in all 3 chapters if possible.

You guys don't care...just cause you've got prophecies and/or nightfall...
You wouldn't know what Kaineng would look like, it's up to Anet to decide that.
|
I heard rumor that Americans are not entire world/Earth.
Also those who not support Anet with buying at least newest game when it is available but still play GW is unfair if they get everything what all GW chapter buyers get.

The Dragon Festival is the Moon New Year. The East Asian New year.
Now... Japanese people actualy makes Winter celebrations, new year, gift day, they usually buy a cake on Christmas... and there are many Christian people there too. But only in Japan.

Current chapter gets the love, that was clear ever since Factions came out. Factions ain't current any more, hence it makes no sense to act "surprised" that an old game isn't getting love.
Tyria likely gets it too simply because most of the work for it was already done for Tyria over a year ago.
