i would like to have this thing cleared out: is it ok to stand afk on 9rings and are you not risking any kind of ban.

the first time 9rings was some ppl got tempolary banned for standing afk.

theres nuthing worser then that.

and can we have this confirmed by some anet empoloyee.

So when then next 9rings comes i can leave my pc on for 3days standing there without having to worry that i cant login no more after it.

There is no risk of being banned for afking the rings. Infact, it's encouraged, as it's the only way to gain the title. As long as you are standing in the rings, you're losing a little bit of money all the time, as a whole. This is good gold sink, and it is what Anet intended.

In the past, people weren't banned for afking the rings... many who were banned were banned by accident, and all have since gotten their accounts back. They were banned because of activities they did before and after the 9rings, that made Anet's software think they were bot farmers.

So yes, you can stand in one spot for 3 days without repurcussion. I'd recommend, though, that you check up on your character every 8 hours to make sure your computer didn't freeze up, or there is a new build, or any other reason.

I do believe if you stand still for 10 hours without doing anything it disconnects you. I could be wrong, but just to be safe you may want to move a bit every 10 hours

Actually I believe they bumped it up to 12 hours, but during events there are usually updates occassionally.

On a side note, shouldn't this be in the Q&A area?

For the record, people weren't banned that time because they were AFK on 9 Rings. ArenaNet ran a bot sweep, and came up with a lot of false positives, which included people AFK on the rings. It was just bad timing.

It won't likely happen now.

You breach nothing for Being AFK, nor are you grieving anyone for AFKing in the 9 rings, dont worry about it. Anything you heard are just rumors.

The 9 Rings are a special event for the Shing Jea Boardwalk and Dragon Festival in Cantha, the OP was just asking in advance for when it comes again next year.

I wouldn't be to sure about that, since the rings are in Kamadan en LA right now. They just don't do anything..yet.

I know I won't get banned...my character is currently standing completely still, whilst I sit her at my keyboard. See, I'm actively playing, making my character stand still. ANet would never ban me for that.

J/K...there is no way for them to know if you're actually at the computer playing, or simply allowing your character to earn a title while you're afk. No worries...

I was playing with a bot today. He was SSing for me in the UW, and he WAS a bot, im not joking or lying, and I am sure. Should i report, with my 2 SS of him ignoring me to tell me a colour and saying NOTHING apart from when i went afk.

Doesn't work. You only have to be in that zone for 10 hours to get kicked off, even if you are active and doing stuff. Changing town for a sec should solve that though. But then theres the problem of it kicking you for being logged in for 24 hours, so you just have to relog.

I don't see any problem with reporting, I mean anet will do their own investigation, if they find him to be guilty they'll take the appropriate action, if not no harm done.

since this was revived, it looks like we wont get to know the use of the rings till the first, which sucks in a way but ok.

But still im thinking they will have something to do with the Grenth v Dwayna battle but im not sure what yet. Or i could be completely wrong and it could be the same game from Dragon Fest. Guess well have to wait and see.

And it's only been 5 days, I wouldn't say it was dead yet.

I don't think the rings are the same game since there are 2 sets of 9 not like during the festival. Guess we wait and see.

Yeah i have been waiting for 9 rings to start for about 6 days now im kinda upset it hasnt started up yet and im starting to doubt it will. Developers are maybe busy? Maybe they planned to have 9 rings but just simply got lazy? who knows

Any word from Galie if the 9-Rings would make an appearance this holiday season or was it only to put hopes in the eyes of people tired of Snowball Arena but still want to up their gamer title?

Gaile mentioned that there would be other ways to earn Gamer points but haven't seen any others pop up during this holiday event yet.
