I have mostly unoriginal names. I do it in Latin though, so it sounds impressive. Right up until you meet someone who understands Latin and points out the incorrect grammar of your name :\

Yeah, my main character is named X of Thulcandra because I use the name "Mr.X" in all the other games I play (if it is available, which isn't a concern for most games). But since "Mr X" wasn't available, I just thought of something mythological sounding like "Thulcandra" (Earth), and mixed the two together. I hate seeing people with names like "X Name X" just so they can dupe some name; it makes me feel like my identity is "cheapened", I might say.

whenever i find that the name i want is taken, i first pull out the old thesaurus to find some synonyms, and if those aren't cool enough for me, i start using words from other languages. yes, it does take a while sometimes to put a name together, but it will still be my name.

One of my gamer tags is laMent, but it was taken on GW, so i got the name: La Ment.

I just put it into freetranslations.com and it turns out it means 'the lies' in french, which is pretty decent.

id like to hear opinions on my name, Giant Battle Hammer. its original in a way for a warrior name, similar to how some dwarves are named.. ironhammer and all like that. but part of the reason that name was picked is it was the name of the most powerful weapon in a game i used to play, and i had it :P

Original names are way cooler than the 131434th copy of an dragonball z or other ripp-off name

Go over to www.freetranslations.com and put in "la ment" (without the quotes) in the the Free Text Translator, select "French to English" and you get the translation of "the lies" when you click "Free translation". When I bought GW and sat at the creation screen, I've always used the screenname of wolydarg ever since I got on the internet, so I put in wolydarg, hit enter, read the directions, put the in front of wolydarg, typo, stuck with it ever since.

When I see the word "Teh" I think retard and move on...sorry but words like that are generally used by GW child population the ones that scream noob and rage quit. Sterotype it is but it's better to be safe then sorry.

This thread is somewhat stupid, since it's nothing more than a gripe on other people's habits. The truth is, dealing with other people will annoy you sometimes. You have the right to spell your name correctly, so other people have the right to spell their names incorrectly.

This is somewhat akin to the Americans complaining that all the Japanese and Chinese names are so difficult to pronounce -- why don't they just speak English? Well, other people like the names they pick, so leave them alone...
