A warning to those who bought the CE:
This is to make sure nobody makes the same mistake that I did.
I made a character immediatley after we were able to. I took the short quest in the begining tutorial area. While I was talking to the guy to go to the next outpost, I lagged out. I logged back in to see myself back at the tutorial area, I pressed M and noticed i had maptravel for that place unlocked, so i thought i was done with the quest. I went to the outpost, since I wanted to see my CE stuff. I talked to the guy to complete the quest, but Koss wasnt with me and I was stuck there, with my brand new minipet. Luckilly, I had someone to take it and let me transfer it to another character, but for those of you who are guildless, and dont have anyone else you trust, dont do /preorder or /bonusitems until you make sure you can continue normally with the game.
Hopefully, this bug is fixed, and theres another way to get Koss added.

I don't know why you think the current system is better, because the price of those runes is effectively *infinity*, because they are not even for sale, to anyone, at any price. There are probably people who would be willing to pay high prices for these. And if not? The price would drop until there were people who would be willing to pay.
It seems there is a resentful undertone of not wanting the OP to profit. It is pretty pathetic that people are envious and resentful of the initiative or success of others these days. Anyway, I just suggest you guys disabuse yourselves of the whole 'profit is immoral' concept, before you get out of school and enter the real world, and get slapped in the face with capitalism.

Gaile Gray has already addressed this as a bug that will be fixed in the nearish future. They never intended for minions to flee in terror as if dieing could hurt them any worse -_- So patience!

Like I said earlier. Just wait a few days for the supply to replenish. That is all.

Just so that its clear, when I made this thread, the thought of myself profiting didn't even cross my mind. I thought back to when factions was first released and the lack of materials available to everyone. People were able to charge any amount for iron ingot, tanned hides, and leather squares. Then I thought about the lack of runes available now. I thought to myself: "It really sucks that the trader is always out of runes whenever there is a spike in demand. I wonder what could be changed so that this wouldn't happen?"
To an extent, my making of this thread was from a self interested point of view in that I want to be able to purchase runes but I was also thinking about how the community as a whole would benefit from reprogramming the traders.

The reason capitalism is used in the real world is because it works. The reason I suggested implementing a more capitalistic method of rune and material traders is because they too, would work.

The OP is absolutely right, and this is coming from someone with a degree in economics. Prices aren't rising fast enough at the trader on these runes that are selling out. If they were, more runes not only would be available from less people buying from the trader but also more people selling to the trader.

The trader can only sell what people sell to him, this is how it's been for a long time and this is how it should stay. Things will improve in a few weeks.

Why was this thread merged with a bug reporting thread? This isn't a simple bug in the game, its a system which was setup incorrectly. Amins, I would appreciate it if you reversed the merging.

Is anyone having a problem with the quest where you choose a secondary profession?
My Dervish finished the Secondary Training quest and was then offered to choose a secondary profession. I wanted to wait before choosing so just as I almost pressed "escape", I saw they had an option of delaying making the choice. So naturally, I went ahead and clicked on that delay-choice button. But lo and behold, I'm suddenly a D/Mo...
So... when do I get a chance to change my sec prof?

Anything that limits a free market economy makes it difficult to have a real "economy". In this case it would actually be better if there weren't NPC rune traders- since it would be left up to the Live players to trade and determine the cost of the runes. Since the demand for the runes is outstripping the supply the price of runes should go up till they reach equilibrium. The trader NPCs are coded incorrectly so they do not raise their prices quick enough. This problem has nothing to do with it being a video game and more with the programming logic that went into designing the trader NPCs. There are millions of video games that are based around the concept of free market and trading- they do a great job of implementing it and defending the programmers because "it is hard to create an economy in a video game" is just a cop out that you know to be completely false.
Quote:
If you want to implement real world economy into games, the first thing I have to remind you is that your stock-up runes will deteriorate over time, it is called the faucet and drain system, would you really want that to happen?
|
The Faucet and Drain system is NOT a real world economic term. It was coined because of videogames. Basically, the rule states that video game designers will invent "gold drains" to rid the economy of excess money. They need to do this because, unlike real life, there are no bills for the characters to pay in order to exist and letting characters horde gold creates problems with game balance and expansion packs. These gold drains are often in the form of better armor, in game housing, or other unique items that can be bought. I don’t understand how you jumped from Faucet/Drain to runes deteriorating but you pretty much started off on the wrong foot so I am not surprised where you ended up.

Yeah, I didn't think I was getting double xp. Was too busy exploring and doing quests to do much about it though.

Agreed. I think the quest, Ghosts in a Graveyard, from Blacktide Den can be annoying as the ghosts surround you and prevent movement and if you get squished into a corner you can't move. The only way I completed that quest was to never go near a wall and always to keep moving.
I also hope they fix the non-stacking item problem with dyes and other items that happens between items prior NF and items after NF.

The main appeal of the Priest Prayers is the fact you get Sunspear points.
