Default Xfire and Gold Sellers

Not sure this belongs here, but I think this is the closest thread to post this in.

Some of you people know Xfire, it's a big IM for gamers, and it's really popular.

I really like the program until now.... Now gold sellers are harassing the entire GW community, and the bad thing is there are so many of them! It's impossible to block them all.

Since Xfire is not doing any thing about it, I suggest you turn off Xfire.

A little information from the poop.

Edit: I actually posted this in the wrong forum, can some one move it to riverside please?

I've never revealed my name and I rarely post on forums, but for some reason, these gold sellers keep on messaging me and my friends.

You shouldn't of bought off of them. They wouldn't have you xfire then.

Ive never got messaged ever. Maybe turn off the ability for friends of friends to message you. Or only allow people on your friends list to message you.

I dont belive in that. Why ? Its to hard to find one person in millions of gamers... . Another thing, you need to authorise person in Xfire so... well its your problem.

p.s Dont like ebay goldies ppl ~~.

Stop people talking against OP when you don't know nothing about matter. It is real and happen to me too. When you get huge friend list they will find your account and message to everyone in those friend lists. They possibly even check based to hours played that game if player is maybe wanting that somebody sell gold.

You have yet to heed your own advice there. Grow up. Constantly insulting people over the internet isn't exactly mature. Hammering onto grammar or mistakes is neither. So... grow up, move on and stop flaming. The Block Button does absolutely nothing, they just take another one of their thousand adresses to spam you. Happy clicking. Now hush, grow up, move on.Thank you.

IMs have indeed a certain weakness to this method, same as with E-Mail Spam. It takes one jackass to completely ruin it. Once you're in one of those lists you'll never ever get out of it again.
And those jackasses are quite easy to come along. Did you publically post your X-Fire Account somewhere? Did you use the signature feature?

I agree email is a pain in the arse, but IM's from MSN and Xfire (for examples) are easy to sort with use of the Block button...

Its not something to get completely het up about as these guys are, just use that wonderful block button and move on

Although if i sounded harshe before its because posts like these are quite idiotic, and as has been said in this thread before, how did they get the account details? Sig, email addy? but it doesn't matter, just block them and be done with it

It is not upto the companies themselves (again i mean Xfire or MSN) to stop this as they can't stop so many, just as ANet can't stop so many things happening in game all the time! It comes down to individuals being careful

I would imagine spamming is against Xfire's TOS. Is there a report button?

I happen to have X-fire and the problem has accured to me All you need to do is quickly minimize the gw window and go to Block User and they'll be gone. And for when they go onto anthor account just simply block again. Or if they seem to have a lot of accounts log off xfire for while and when stop playing turn it on, They cant contact you if you not playing (unless they are friends and not friends of friends)

They also send it via Private Message - presumably via the forums, so that you are forced to go there and see their spam.

There is an easy fix to this turn off the ablity of friends of friends to message you. The simple fact is a friend of your friend has the gold seller on the friend list. DOn't blame xfire blame your friend that bought gold. Or better yet just change the settings. Xfire already has a fix in place
