Not sure what you mean by this. The game is a race and you get ranked by you time for completion, similar to say a competitive mission. In this case though the top performers are going to get a new prize that will not be available anywhere else, and there will not be may prizes awarded. So no more afk in squares or in disticts and getting something - you actually have to earn this one.

how is it ranked though do you get the prize if you come into the top (3,5,10 ect.) of the day(and receive the prize at that time) or being near the top when its reset?

They'll be looking at all time high scores for the entire event - not daily high scores. This will really limit the number of people who get the in game prizes.

It may also limit the number of people who are interested in playing throughout the weekend, unless there's also an attainable reward for those who have no chance at the grand prize.
Just saying. I strongly suspect points for the Skillz titles will be that reward.

perpetually confused
Okay...GW is the first MMORPG that I have ever played mainly becasue I did not want to monthly fees. As soon as I heard about GW, I bought it (June2006). Since then I have all three chapters linked, and I ahve beaten them all. I have dabbled in PvP and have one max title so far...I have over 1000 hours...soo my question is...
Why do people get bored with GW? there is so much to do, so much to try...I still have a Mesmer sitting in Sanctum Cay that I would like to get back to. Now that I understand Monks and the game mechanics, I want to start one in NF. I just entered the TAs and have just started to do elite areas...I could play for one month straight and not get bored...
Is this just a PvP thing? Is it so broken?.
Other things i do not understand is why people want to complete only half the game...why do missions and not the bonus or masters objectives? what is the lure of being run somewhere? just so you can say...All my characters have this (insert 15k armor).
What is the rush?
The final thing that shocks me so much is PvP. Being a noob, I am shocked that PvP is such a problem. Are people so stuck in a rut with builds that the only way to make it fresh is skill balancing? The human element should foster a constant evolution...does it.
I have seen multiple posts about MMs dominating in AB battles...there has to be a way to combat that...I know in PVE a Dervish boss will decimate my minion army in amatter of 20 seconds...there is always a counter punch...
The same thing happens in PVE elite areas...look at Tombs or Urgotz...follow a set formula or team build...It took me forever to get a group in DoA...
BUT..I still love the game...My wife keep threatening to hide my laptop...she does not know that I have it on our desktop too!!!
My only offer is that I know no other MMO...i grew up playing eternal daggers adn Bard's tale I (all text). I guess that allows me to look at the GW univers with child-like wonder...I love this game

hmmm, well I edited my post to say MMORPG, but my guess is that is not accurate in your eyes either...
Is this going to be one of those debates similar to whether EMO is considered a sub genre of punk or that it shouldbe considered its own genre?
I'm old, I am so far out of the loop that I wouldn't know it if it was around my neck...I don't know any better...exactly what is GW then?...
Seriously...enlighten me

Is Guild Wars an MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game)? Guild Wars has some similarities to existing MMORPGs, but it also has some key differences. Like existing MMOs, Guild Wars is played entirely online in a secure hosted environment. Thousands of players inhabit the same virtual world. Players can meet new friends in gathering places like towns and outposts where they form parties and go questing with them. Unlike many MMOs, when players form a party and embark upon a quest in Guild Wars, they get their own private copy of the area where the quest takes place. This design eliminates some of the frustrating gameplay elements commonly associated with MMOs, such as spawn camping, loot stealing, and standing in a queue in order to complete a quest.
Guild Wars takes place in a large virtual world made up of many different zones, and players can walk from one end of the world to the other. In Guild Wars much of the tedium of traveling through the world has been eliminated. Players can instantly return to any safe area (town or outpost) that they have previously visited just by clicking on it in the world overview map.
Rather than labeling Guild Wars an MMORPG, we prefer to call it a CORPG (Competitive Online Role-Playing Game). Guild Wars was designed from the ground up to create the best possible competitive role-playing experience. Success in Guild Wars is always the result of player skill, not time spent playing or the size of one's guild. As characters progress, they acquire a diverse set of skills and items, enabling them to use new strategies in combat. Players can do battle in open arenas or compete in guild-vs-guild warfare or the international tournament. Engaging in combat is always the player's choice, however; there is no player-killing in cooperative areas of the world.
Players in Guild Wars can play with or against players from around the world in the global tournaments and arenas. And while players are initially placed in a region based on their selected language (so that there is a greater likelihood that others will be speaking their language) they can join up in the always-available International District to form parties and to play with anyone from anywhere in the world.
|
In a nutshell, Guild Wars is more akin to an online Action Adventure game that has both PvE and PvP eliments... By definition an Guild Wars can not be an MMO due to the 100 person per server/district limit and the fact that the game is fully instanced... The maximum currently that you can team up is 12 people vs. 12 people, but that is in honesty 4+4+4vs4+4+4

I play Archlord aswell, and like WoW its fully open... Oh My God, if i get player killed one more time just as I'm about to finish off the boss I need to kill to get his left pinky for some retard NPC that could have done it quicker than me anyway, I will kill someone IRL!
And in WoW, the idea of having to run around looking for your own body after you die sounds so absurd I haven't even bothered to try it... What sort of crack headed idiot came up with that idea??? I mean, come on, thats just retardedly stupid!!!

More than likely the Canthan New Year is the GW of Chinese New Year. So far I have enjoyed all the in-game events and been hopeful a new one would be created for Cantha-- Hey after all my first game was Factions.
Thanks so much for heads up! Looking forwards to more information on the event ^^
