I too suffer this difficancy of time and space where you just teleport backwards(rubber banding *srry trying to sound smart here*). I mainly have this problem in HA when on a relic map and im try to get out of a plethera of spirits and people. It happens right when i just make it past them and then wahbam im back in the damn block. I'm not sure if Anet can fix this but if they could i would be very much in debt to them.

I faced the same problems with the OP as well when i am forced to run pass a group of enemies.

what would proceed to happen would seem like some coomunication error/lag between the client and the servers.

I would be taking damage from the group that i would have contact with but as i run pass them, i will continue to take damage even if it is shown on my radar that i am clearly out of their range and that they are not chasing me. But in truth, this perception is only represented on the client side interface, but within the servers, your character is actually stuck on the group of mobs who are constantly damaging you until death which you toon will be rubberbanded back to the spot its stuck at.

Lag? bug? Clinch? server problems? I am not exactly sure whats wrong, but seriously Anet work too hard at making new chapters. Perhaps they would like to play their own game some time for a change.

Well, lots of other people are having this problem, even if you are lucky enough not to have it.

My partner and I have the most atrocious lag, rubberbanding, disconnects and insane pings. And it's NOT our pc's or our connection - as it is only in Guild Wars and we have done all the suggested client-side "fixes" we can find recommended. And it's not just us - every single member of our 40 member odd guild (spread out between Australia, South Africa, Europe and the UK), and almost every member of our 9 guild strong alliance has the same problem.

The game is almost unplayable for all of us at the moment (6 x group err7's while running a guildie's foreign char to Ascalon from LA? Trying to get through Zaishen Challenge with a guildie to access higher PVP and giving up because of err7's for each of us in every battle!! and the re-connect "facility" not functioning? this all in one night!). This nonsense has already led to a few alliance and guild members leaving in disgust for other games with better server support.

With this (for our guild) being a world wide problem at the moment - please do not tell me that it's not an A-net server problem.... because its definitely NOT on the client side IMHO

I am getting this rubber-banding issue quite often recently. Anytime I pass/fight large mob and want to run through/away I get stuck... I have to see if the c2m helps to alleviate this problem

I get this when i'm doing 1 of 2 things:

Chest Running
Map Exploration

And it always sucks. Hardcore. To the max. Extreme.

The rubber band lag is free of charge and brings a new element of challenge to towns and missions! That or the Anet server is a 386 sx on a 9600 baud connection. *shrug* I will think of it as a perk since it gets worse with every chapter.

An unplayable game is a game that has tons of bugs and keeps crashing every so often or making your PC restart.
Rubber banding is because of network connections and I'm afraid its more that just Anet fixing a "problem"

ROTFL...don't forget the ettins outside of Beetletun. Before ettin hunting was nerfed, I often got hit by ettins way on the other side of the screen.

It helps to know I'm not the only one with the rubber band problem. It doesn't happen everyday, but I've noticed more frequently it's when I'm using my running skills.

Not long ago I was running my hubby from Beacon's Perch to L.A...got repeatedly rubberbanded in the ettin caves. He thought I was standing still, while on my screen I was still running. I kept dying from being rubberbanded back to mobs of ettins x.x .

I am on TW cable connection.
The rubber banding effect has gotten me killed several times while soloing the u/w. Things happen very quickly and you need to be very precise in what you do or you will quickly die.
It is extremely frustrating to have run away from a bladed aatxe only to find yourself dying from mysterious blows with no one in your radar. Then after I am dead I "rubber band" back to where the aatxe just beat the crap out of me.
until this is fixed farming the u/w is a crap shoot at best.
Please Anet fix this.
I have been playing this series since Prophecies was released.
I dont want to have to give it up because of something like this.
Thanks for your attention to this issue.

Who your ISP is has nothing to do with it. Your ISP could be the greatest, fastest, etc in the world, but they are only as fast as the network they are attached to. As soon as you leave the TW network, you enter the internet, a world of variable speeds and in some cases, incredibly ancient (in computer terms) equipment. A tracert from your computer to the guild wars servers will probably show atleast 8 different machines that are not owned by TW that your connection is being routed through to get to the guild wars servers, and it's one or more of those machines that are likely causing your lag / rubberbanding. You do not have a direct, non-stop link to the guild wars servers.

I'm primarily a PvP player and this is a nightmare in matches, especially relic runs and whatnot.

I'm not too convinced of it being entirely a latency issue either; there's places that I can replicate the problem. For those familiar with PvP, getting to the boat from the Zaishen fight at the start involves you squeezing through a gap between an NPC guard and a wall. 9 times out of 10 you will rubberband at this location due to the very close proximity of the guard and a wall in relation to your character.

I think the collision detection system that the game is using needs to be looked at and how the information of a 'successful' block is relayed back to the client. This is definitely a problem that Anet can resolve; it's not outside of their realm. If that were the case as people have been saying, the problem would be common among many MMOs and pretty much any other online game which involves client/server interaction and this simply isn't the case. Besides, this problem has not always been present in Guild Wars, indicating to me that something with the collision detection system has been changed and is responsible for causing this.

Good to see people still posting about this problem. Maybe if enough people post then Anet will look at this problem, although I won't hold my breath.

The problem still happens all the time to me but I've got around the rage (mostly) by simply switching GW off when it happens. Not the best solution but better than buying a new keyboard all the time cause the last one got thrashed in rage.

I've also been doing a bit of pvp of late and have noticed the exact same problem there too. I'm really surprised that more pvp players are not complaining about this actually, it's frustrating enough dying because of rubberbanding whilst running or farming in pve but I can only imagine how annoying it is whilst trying to play a important pvp match.

Rubber banding happens a lot to me and I have a fast connection and a fast machine. I'm at the point where I notice it quite quick when it happens so I stop moving, make a step aside and the screen will jump back to where I got stuck.

You can see it for example when running in a new group and they don't aggro, don't keep running, stop, make the sidestep and you won't waste that much time.

This "bug" or whatever it is, has been happening to me a lot lately too.. It's pretty annoying especially when your trying to get out of agro and on your screen your about 20 feet away but your still getting damage.
When this happens I try to dodge left and right so I get teleported back and try to escape but I just stand there slowing dying. T-T
