So I'm not the only one experiencing this horrid problem and mega lag.....it feels like after New Years, the lag has been getting progressively worse including this rubberbanding thing and it's definitely got nothing to do with my internet connection because before this week, i rarely ever err7 or disconnect due to lags. ANET, please fix this problem soon!!! Do any of you guys think it's got to do with the Winterfest event and the snowball fighting arena?

This is a very annoying problem, it appears you are safe and running past the mobs, but than you are teleported back and you die! This happens to me a lot in UW, when I was pulling for the trap party.

it is lagging somewhere between you and them
i have had 3 (three) 007 in 20 months
i have had 7 momentary rubber bands in that time as well none during winterfest.
i am also less than 20 miles from their servers.
if it were ANET distance would NOT MATTER

...there are like a bajillion threads about lag and rubberbanding, and on each of them you will find me telling you how to avoid rubberbanding. Learn how to read, and learn how to search.
And no, arenanet can't fix it. Rubberbanding is as much arenanet's fault as your local power outage.

It's probably packet loss, and it won't show up on the ping monitor thing. Also, good computer means little. Could have bad software on it. Bad phone lines, old phone lines. Bad company which provides your ISP and other ISPs data...
I didn't read all of the thread but, I run windows 2003 server edition with tweaks to make net better. My ISP absolutely sucks, and I have no things like porn on my computer.
I do not really get this error, apart from when my ISP does really pack in (and that's around peak times).
However, for me it is ISP error.
I did get it when loads of crap was on my computer, with windows XP also. Whether I'd get it with loads of crap on my computer, with windows 2003 I can't answer since I don't know.

There are numerous people, that are noticing allot of lag issues over the past week or so. Normally you could say it could be your provider, network all of those things and prob be right. But I can tell you when 60% of the people in your 10 guild alliance complain about it at around the same times. Or you do a GVG with everything fine before you enter match, once it starts your entire team is stuck for 1 min , while the other team just strolls in your base and wipes out 1/2 your Npc's. All of this while you laugh at your teammates going omg my ping is 10000. There are prob outside factors effecting the game.
I would guess all the lag is due to the new skill balances, HoH changes,(soon to be upon us) and the earthquake in Taiwan over Christmas. Remember to make it easier on us Anet streams these updates to us before the day of the download.
Lag sucks, but just like death and taxes, something we all have to deal with.

WOW thanks for that pearl of wisdom!
</sarcasm>
Despite your apparent belief that everything you say is correct, I think your wrong. As pointed out by numerous people in this thread, this appears to be a problem with their client/server prediction code or at least the update frequency between the client & server. So of course there are things anet can do to improve this problem. We are not just talking about lagging here. If you read the thread proper you would already know that.
And surprisingly, I can both read and search IF the forums allows such a search. I have tried the search but it's either broke or returning nothing. I have also tried looking for these highly informative posts you have made but the forums don't allow us to 'view all posts' made by a user.
I am bursting with anticipation just thinking about this wisdom you have to offer. So please do share your secret with us because I'd really love to know what the definitive solution on "how to avoid rubberbanding." is, as I am sure many many others would.

It always happens in the ettins cave between beacons and lions arch too. Always.
@ tyrant1x: It only really happens whilst using running skills and trying to pass through a pack of enemies. If your fighting your way through you will hardly ever see this problem.
@ jeremy untouchable: Yeah, I find targeting nearest enemie and attacking makes the game catch up in the same way as using a healing sig. It's not bad if you spot it quite quick but if you don't or if the enemies are very high level your in trouble.

so ANET can control everything on the 5-10 hops to them that you can guarantee are good.
RIGHT
as for a few complaints on this tiny thread here are some actual stats for you.
numerous people in this and other forums are such a small sample it does not even count.
this site is one of the elite active sites.
also note most game players never even visit a fansite.

Troll on, Loviatar. <_<
I didn't say "ANET can control everything on the 5-10 hops to them", you did. I said "there are things anet can do to improve this problem". There is a very big difference between those 2 statements.
Now please go waste someone else's time.

in case you missed it that was sarcasm
as to their improving things they made a major server upgrade recently when the moved into the new building.
give us Anet specific improvements they should make based on any actual knowledge (if any) of the hardware/protocols they are using.
be specific not ...........just.......i know they can do something

I always click to move (I get nautious if I use the keyboard to move) and I rubber band too sometimes... So that doesn't really solve the problem.

I don't normally post here on guru but I couldn't ignore this thread.
I to get this problem, from memory I can only say I've had happen regularly for the last 4-6 weeks. I've only been playing Nightfall PvE so I cant comment on whether it effects older chapters. I'm am not posting this to complain because I find it bearable, I'm just posting to confirm that this bug does indeed exist and I have had it occur to about 5-6 time to me.
Now I would like to get a few things out of the way which should hopefully dismiss any idea that its my end. I know the ins and outs of my computer and my internet connection. I know i can (and often have) constantly ping any (reliable) server for hours without spiking more than 50ms above average and without dropping a packet.
P.S. No I was not using speed buffs.

This is not a complaint either, but I have noticed this rubberbanding issue lately.
Occasionally farm the Trolls at the the ices caves for some 'pin money' (I know they now move off and look like they are having a poo mid battle, although when they come back I can't see where they keep the toilet role.)
It seems to happen if you head right through the middle of a mob, although it might just be that Trolls have very, very long invisible arms that hook into you as you run past and then ping you back to them when they are ready.

you can have a perfect connection at your end but you cant control the hops on the way.
if it is a server problem it should be more widely spread by orders of magnatude and every site should have half the threads yelling we cant play.
at about 1500 hours since the start i have had
3 (three) 007s (noted because i went wtf when it happened)
7 momentary rubberbanding events (noted because i went wtf when it happened)
i also have a ping as low as 15 ms and usually no more than 75-100 ms
i am also less than 20 miles from their servers.
if it was a server problem i and a ton of other unaffected players should be having problems also

Rubber banding is a huge problem for me, and has been since the release of Nightfall. I understand the need for a considerable amount of client prediction, but from my experience, there can be as much as 20 seconds between syncs. That's just not acceptable in any online game of this nature. 5 seconds would be annoying, but within the realms of tolerance, and that really wouldn't be too taxing on bandwidth. Considering the bridge bugs, I'm guessing a synch wouldn't require more than a set of XY coordinates and the direction the character is facing.
