Me too.
What would be really cool is if they let up bet on the results -- like the wintersday thing -- and give us some of those potions as a prize for winning.

This is a good thing to see really, but the only rule that bothers me is this
Quote:
In the event that the two guilds can't find a mutual time to compete, then the fallback time that is listed in the pairing letter sent to the tournament leaders must be followed. This fallback time is designated based upon the regions of the two participating guilds and attempts to set a time for both guilds outside of normal work/school hours. Since this fallback time is late at night or early in the morning due to varied time zones it is in the interest of both guild leaders to find a mutually agreed upon time for their match.
|
Surely if you're paired vs a good guild you claim there is no mutual time then hope they cant field a team early in the morning or late a night? Correct me if im wrong but that seems a bit strange they're making people organise this themselves.

The things that bug me:
-4 days to contact each other
-Fallback time
-You can only sign up with 8 people, not 10

Does anyone else find it odd that everyone cares about some potions, and makes no mention of wanting the $400 video card?

I think the 8 player limit is pretty unforgiving, considering it's an eight man team. What if just one player is unable to play (not even counting the other team's time resriction) for the four set days during a month and a half? I think many teams will just forfeit or play with henches (terrible idea). I'd not even want to play with a hench, really.
The latest tourny season got to have 10 players on the roster and that was only for the season ending playoffs. Why not have 10 players be able to play this time around as well?

yep, i feel the same way. Not 10 because of the prizes. A-Net just being cheap on that point. I doubt they actually had to pay retail for the prizes, probably got them for discount of for free because its a special promotion and ATI gets its products out among gamers/ possibly future customers. GG.
I'm guessing many teams will have trouble in this do it yourself set up. I know i'll miss a few days so i know i can't put myself on my own roster. I already booked up a few days because of short notice on tourney start time. Seems like a tournament for people that have few real life commitments.

Did I mis-read it, or are they making it HARDER to compete seriously. Scheduled times against scheduled opponents? Best 2-3 of matches? This sounds like a MASSIVE time commitment.
I guess I won't get to play
Good luck to the rest of you. The fact that I won't be able to participate doesn't make this event any less cool!

Good initiative! I'm going to make sure that I participate at any rate - Matches against the best teams is just too good an upportunity to miss
The scheduling isn't really much to quarrel about. ANet gives you a time to play on, and the option to change it if both teams are in agreement. Can't see a better way to do it really.
The 8-man rooster is a bit on the tough side though. Better hope noone on your team comes down with a bad case of cholera or whatnot.
Still, I'm really looking forward to getting started on the tournament
