You really think some people will pay hundreds of dollars just for FoW armor? Wow, that's sad...

I don't like FoW, I think they all look ugly, the only decent pieces to me are the Warrior helm and the Ritualist Headpiece. The rest people just get for show, which is fine by me, cuz I can care less if a fat FoW warrior is dancing in front of me, I'd gladly show him my 1.5k Sunspear Necro Coat (aka da pimp jacket). I think alot of people on these forums have good taste in armor and they do it without FoW... I mean come on, Ranger FoW? Wtf is that... Or Sin Fow...

Anyways, just because Ebay stopped selling gold and w/e doesn't mean anything, there are probably tons of websites that sell virtual items for any game. ON the internet, possibilities are endless.

ebay has started to delist any and all virtual items listed on their auction sites.

though they dont repremand or ban accounts for relisting items.

so that kinda sucks.

but atleast theyre doing something.

bout damned time tbh.
They would have removed them earlier if Anet, or any other reported that an account is selling illegal "goods". They are obliged to do so, or otherwise in violation of the law. Many webmarket sites will remove adds presenting illegal goods. Even requests provoking such actions from thirds are removed in such a way.

The most you could conceivably argue is that "access to" intellectual property is being sold, but that's not technically correct either, because that access is ultimately controlled by - you guessed it - the game company.
"The seller must be the owner of the underlying intellectual property, or authorized to distribute it by the intellectual property owner" --e-Bay

The TOS of most all Online games strictly prohibit the distribution of in game items in exchange for real world items (ie cash.) This isn't a legal matter in the sense of copyright violation, since it is a TOS between e-Bay and the seller. The seller could sue e-Bay for unfair practices, but I doubt the case would get far in today's climate of copyright mania. Besides most sellers don't have the kind of deep pockets needed to fight a legal battle against a corporate giant like e-Bay, and e-Bay could get a lot of good publicity out of such a fight--standing up for the integrity of fair play and all that, so they might well be willing to fight hard for their policy.

A quick scan of e-Bay shows WoW gold sellers to be outnumbered by WoW "Virtual Guide" sellers, but there are still plenty there. There are also plenty of GW items and gold for sale. Let's not drop e-Bayer from our vernacular quite yet.

This may slow down the bots, pro farmers for awhile. Just like Anet making it impossible for trial accounts to trade with other players - after how long.

Guess selling a coveted skin for obscene amounts of gold + ecto may be over. Urgoz Lonbow happened to pay for most of my Rts obsidian armor way back - I happen to like several obsidian armor skins and some other armor skins, all personal opinion, and cringe at the site of others.

Anyway, good thing for E-Bays part. Just hope it has a bigger effect than I suspect it will.

omg... its your opinion so stop trying to take a bullshit on us.

I love some FoW desing, specially dervish female cause there is nothing nice for me in common ones. Ok there Vabbian top but thats all. And we dont buy FoW to jump around ppl who can afford them. If you do so, you are lame, but if you are jelous cause we can use the markets needs and demand to do some plats. I think thats wrong.

If gold-selling it were that illegal and virtual items were clearly the legal possession of the game companies, Blizzard or some equally anal company would try suing or pressing criminal charges against large gold-selling sites. They haven't in part because the law is not really well defined here. (P.S. TOS != Law much of the time)

QFT is the expression I believe. Ebay was only 1 of literally thousands of sites that sell online gold for real cash. The sell of online gold will never stop as long as there is MMO's and willing buyers.

Or at least let FoW people get a refund for their armor if they already bought it, or maybe make it more customizable once it is in your inventory. I was thinking to do that by way of titles maybe. For instance...

If you have x tier of wisdom title u can make different leg customization

If u have x GMC completed u have different helm customizing

If u have x treasure hunter title u can change the plate

Something like that would be cool I think.

Why? Ebayers will just move to one of the many other sites that deals with online gold. Use Google to see how many pop up..

Only problem with your suggestion is that many people would buy more gold to get such titles. All those titles can be paid for.

Wisdom - Buy golds 1k each
GMC - Buy a runner
Treasure Hunter - Easy title to obtain.

Easy search, 1.5 mill. You could buy 1 g off of all of those and max out your account and more.

(I didn't actually click on the link, but I'm assuming that most of those sell gold)

It sets a precedent and that is all it needs to do. These sites and "services" are illegal by every meaning of the word. they are not wanted by the developers, the backers, or the majority of the players that are all to aware that this act is CHEATING no matter how you cut it.

Now that one service has agreed to delist and eventually ban for the act on repeat offenses, its only a matter of time before the copyright owners start sending out cease and desist orders to these illegal sites and start lawsuits against them to shut them down for good. Unfortanatly just like P2P there will always be the defacto site located in countries that don't respect any laws of any government at all.

You mean the same loophole that says torrents are not the copyrighted material itself but a hash of the file, and that hash is not protected so websites can legally list those hashes for download. Sorry but that does not cut it. The Time they spent farming the virtural goods is no more relevent. The end result is not time but distrubution of copyrighted virtural product.

PS: Ever notice that people that admit or support buying gold online never list their in game name in fan forums? hummm I wonder why... Maybe because Anet would investigate them and ban their accounts for it? BING BING BING We have a correct answer!!!!
