Default Collectables for Special Events

I've come across quite a few people that have been building stashes of Grawl Necklaces, Singed Gargoyle Skulls, Decayed Orr Emblems, etc. and just waiting to exchange them in at the next Special Event (Wintersday, etc.). One person was saving up to get max drunken titles at the next Wintersday and had several mules filled with stuff!

Although I'm one of the proponents of more storage... I have to say that I wouldn't mind each special event requiring NEW collectables to be dropped or made available to be traded in for the special event items.

Don't get me wrong - I don't like farming to trade for special event items either... but I see people bragging about how many stacks of crap they are collecting for the special event trade-ins... and then complain about not enough storage.

Special event items just don't seem so special anymore when people are waiting to trade in for hoardes of it on day-one of the event (or ready to stand around in town to sell Singed Gargoyle Skulls for 300g each).

Im not too sure what your point is. There are special event items...ie Jade Wind Orbs, Candy Cane shards....

The other collectable/trade in items can be trade for other things as well, but for those who dont have 2 million to get their drunkard title....its a good option. Farming items for those who have the money but not enough time/patience to farm is an opportunity to make a some money. People do this on a daily basis with rare weapons and greens.

If they enjoy collecting and hording the stuff, let them, it doesn't affect any of us - unless we hear them whining about lack of storage space, and that can be ignored as well. If people want to buy them for 300g, let them, it doesn't affect us either - unless we hear them whining about a lack of cash, and that can be ignored as well.

I don't go out of my way to farm them but hang onto what I get and if a collectible can be used to trade for holday items I do so if they are of use to me.

All in all these items are easy enough to obtain so it really doesn't matter, it is not like they are requiring frozen shells or something.

Yeah, not sure what my point was either. Just something I observed some people bragging about recently with the upcoming New Year's event. I'm not really for or against it - just curious what people thought about it. Mainly the storage complainers and the bragging I get tired of - which like was said can be ignored.
