Any fellow beta testers still around?
Hey there.
I played Guild Wars in the early day of betas - missed a few due to not been able to get hold of the codes for a few. Got back into the 3 or 4 betas before the finale due to friend codes and pre-order.
The finale was fun- woke at 8am GMT just to see it
Only managed to see the fireworks and the wurms- I had to go after that.
So, my question is- Is there any beta testers still around? If so - do you recognise me? I went by my forum name and done HA in ToPK. In the first beta I was in I continuesly re-rolled characters to see which I favoured. I hanged around in LA abit back then.
Thanks for reading.

I took part in the betas. I spent the majority of my time doing PvE back then, so I definitely wouldn't recognize you from there. I hung around LA quite a bit too, however, and your name does seem familiar, so who knows... it's been a long time. I used to go by the name Darian Lowther, if that helps any.
I was also part of a two man team that wrote a review for the game before it came out. Sadly the site is now defunct, but I still have the review around somewhere. It's interesting to go back and read what I thought of the game back then, and how much it has changed since.
Ah, memories.

Participated in every one of the betas, although it almost didn't happen that way. During the E3 for Everyone event I decided I'd ignore the character screen warning that mesmers were for advanced players only and try that as my first character. Uhhhh... big mistake. I didn't have the slightest clue what I was doing. Worse, I didn't know how to attack without calling out my target every time, so everyone I partied with was yelling at me to, "Shut the heck up!" After realizing mesmer wasn't working out for me, I gave ranger a try. But that was back before the ranger skills were fully implemented (no pets back then, for instance), and I quickly got bored of just shooting my bow all day.
I was just about to give up on the game before I found my place in it. On the last day of the event I decided to give it one more go, this time as a monk. I made up the name Dragou Du Porzan for absolutely no reason whatsoever and gave monking a shot. BOOM... I'm in love. I finally felt like I was a contributing member of the party, being responsible for the well-being of my teammates. I've been playing as Dragou ever since.

Yep, I attended every Beta weekend, as well as The first WPE and E3 4 Everyone.
I was called: Seffapotamus Bezit (whammo) and he's still alive and kickin' (and waiting for his 2nd birthday[wishing time played before release counted] )
The days before guru are still fresh in my memory

There was too pets. The skill was called Charm Lynx and it was uber expensive for the skill gem at the trader, when the trader even had it in stock.
What was awesome was they came in all different awesome shades and colors.
Here's a pic with it loaded and the guy's hawt pink kitty:

Wow- Lot's of people around.
There was this guy who really helped me in LA. I remember him- not the help he gave, or his name- but I remember that moment.
His first name initials were A and his second initial K.
I have TONS of great memories from them days. Time has flew by

Me too, me too....
I liked the E3FE about 5 times more than the finished product. Getting rid of the skill gems, the attempt of keeping PvP somewhat in-lore, and all the pretty kittys... it broke my heart.
Also the one-man party zones. It was gonna be a blender for everyone...

Well, I've only been playing since Faction's release (got Factions, fell in love, got Prophecies and have been playing ever since, along with purchasing NF as soon as it was released) but I have guild mates in Teh Nine who have been around since the beginning and am constantly depressed by all I missed in that year before Factions, unlimited minions, ToPK HoH, everything. Consider yourselves lucky.

I managed to get into the last couple of beta weekends just before the main game was release, although during the betas I did not get very far in the game, I do remember looking at the materal traders and wondering what the hell ectos were, given that they were selling for 300g, that to me was like the price is today, given that making even a couple 100g took awhile.

Hehe..
I'm slightly upset that I lost all my screenshots after a reformat went wrong and messed up my system files on my old PC.

I remember finding a group at Divinity Coast. After we beat that, we all agreed to stay together and plow right through the Jungle missions and we did.
I also remember how there was no Crystal Desert, or Southern Shiverpeaks, also how we started out at Lions Arch.
you know the factions tutorial, and NF's. Open chest thingy and get ur starter wep. That was in Prop beta, before they took it out

Yeah - That guys blabbed on then said 'Go over to that tent and pick up your weapon'..
I also remember a mini- lvl 2 wurm you had to kill as you left that small settlement.
I done that tutorial atleast 50 times on the first beta xD
I got confused alot in the betas. When I reached the last possible mission at that point(sanctum if I remember correctly) I was like WTF where is the next mission?
