I've gotten the survival title on three characters. Each time by going out myself with henchmen only, and not playing with anyone human until I was prepared to accept a death.

It was a fun challenge. I have no intention, though, of trying to get the Level 2 title simply because I don't have that much time to spare.

I think the current title is fine. It gives some folks something extra to aim for. The first tier of the title is a nice challenge for folks who don't have *that* much time.

I think the title at any lvl is cool, if done legitimately. My Mesmer (yes Mesmer) is going to be lvl17 very soon, and I've either henched it or taken a single lvl 20 guildie out on quests. You really learn your place in the GW scheme of things trying to do your best without dying.

Just to share a story: I once took on 3 lvl15 Fog Nightmares with him... I was shaking and sweating and having a blast!

I suppose dying in the lvl 1-15 pvp arenas end the quest for the survival titles as well? If so that's too bad, as I always like to play around in pve's pvp arenas a bit on my characters, especially mesmers and rangers or monk.

I died at 356K exp because my flippen pc crashed on me while I was surround but perfectly safe (had vengeful was Khanhei in my hands)... Sorry I'm still a little irritated at this junk computer and want to fling it out my window.

I've gotten my survivor up to 1,309,000 experience mostly through skill capping, and am so nervous about dying now that I don't even want to play her anymore

The closest call I've ever had was an ele dragon boss in Archipelagos who found the need to gale -> AS me to around 60 health o_0

For the record, I did my LEgendary Survivor with my dervish in 3 months. No Farming, just quests, capping & missions. I only bring HEroes & henchies for all quests & missions just dont want to ruin the reputation of people that really trying hard to get survivor title. Leech is out of my question. Never do that and i hate people do that too.

Check it out under search "SURVIVOR TITLE GUIDE" by Maxiemonster, I shared my guide for NF born with only Henchies & Heroes to get lvl 3 survivor title "legendary survivor". I hope it help people that want to try Heroes & henchies all the way. I post a picture & skills of myself & heroes. If more people requested, i wont mind to post a new thread with complete built the armor and rune for my character & heroes rune.

I think people who are actually serious about getting the title don't leech - I certainly haven't, I play with henchies or guildies. To be honest I think my guildies are even more nervous of me dying than I am! Got one char to lvl 1 and the second is still going strong at 304,000 XP so fingers crossed for that 2nd level...

I hate seeing survivor 1 or 2 in my titles screen - its like a badge of failure or a dunce's hat. If I could have deleted the title I wouldn't have had to delete the characters that had them.

I made legendary survivor on my dervish in about 3 weeks. This was prior to new years so I didn't rely on double xp from skill caps either. No leeching involved unless you consider making heroes work for me to be leeching. The easiest way to get legendary survivor is to play through all 3 campaigns normally but stop at the harder areas like after unwaking waters or after vabbi. Going through cantha and doing all the quests will also give you a lot of XP. Once I got to 800,000 or so xp and had the majority of the towns in Tyria, Cantha, and Elona, I went skill capping. About 100 elites capped should do it.

To the poster above me. There's nothing wrong with having the lower levels of survivor. With a couple of my characters, I purposely suicided after I got rank 1 survivor just so that I wouldn't have to stress myself out over something I didn't really want. I only go for legendary survivor on characters that I love. I tried it on my warrior when factions came out (canthan warrior) and got to 666,000 xp. The ele boss in Tanakei temple killed me. (Sliver armor, star burst, and obsidian flame ftl) My incomplete title served as a harsh reminder for me to stay away from crappy pugs. The only reason I went for it with my dervish is because heroes were added.

To the OP. congrats on getting survivor 1.

Unless you set out to get lvl3 survivor, survivor 1 is nice to have (and looks better than 2 in my opinion)

To those who think a survivor in your group is going to leach off you, I'm glad I will never group with you and wish you lots of healing hands warriors.

for myself, the frustrating thing is having to re-start time and time again, doing the same quests over and over again every time you die. In the end, its worth it.. right up until you take your survivor on a pvp field trip

for those people who think you need to leech to get survivor (1)...you really need to acually try it. I henched all the missions in kaineng center and the marketplace (but none of the primarys), ascended in the desert of proph after being ran through the missions, and managed to get survivor without partying with any people in anything other then runs. When I see people complaining about how all survivors are leeches...It sort of irritates me, after all, it ISNT very hard to hench.

The closest I ever got to Legendary survivor was an assassin. I made it through the factions storyline up to Sunjiang District with henchies, but died to the spawn of multiple Shiro'ken rangers spamming debilitating shot and famine. I was the last to die, too, and had I been paying attention, I would have mapped out, but ah, well.

Deleted. Start over. I was all proud of making it past Argo and the Kraken without any deaths, too.

Double XP this past weekend helped considerably (20 caps), but this girl worked for her title. I have no plans to kill her in some spectacular fashion. If she dies it will be because she deserved it.

I think this is a little unfair. I got Legendary Survivor on my Ranger before the advent of Heroes and I completed Prophecies and Factions with him. Most missions I'd preferably use henchies but in some Factions that wasn't viable.

I don't think I was a liability when I was playing, being a ranger I might naturally have been at the back of a group, but I always made sure to take rebirth in case of the rest of the pary wiping.

I might have been lucky with my groups but I never had to /ragequit cause I was afraid I might die.

I'm not sure... on the one hand it felt good to be able to let go after reaching the max, but on the other hand I felt sorry when my mesmer finally died. Although it can be stressful to play a survivor, it was the best PvE thing I ever did.

Compare that to quaffing ales or licking corners in maps...

I agree with the others on playing with humans. Only trusted guildies/friends, and only if there was a particular challenge that I was hesitant about with henchies. Even then, at times I was thinking how a bot monk will always heal you, given energy, and how a human monk may disconnect, get a phone call etc.

I got survivor 1 on 3 of my characters.. one on my ranger, on one my paragon and one on my warrior

The most fun I had was getting it on my warrior, in tyria, without running, or help from pugs/guildies but with henches

I had so much fun, constantly in tension when I drew aggro, or one of the henchies (LUKAS! should have changed his name to Leroy..) did...
When I got it, I used the same playing style on my paragorn, and it worked

Gave her a big sword, nice shield and just tanked it ^^

Owh, and for leechers, wish I could kick their behinds into the aggro circle

And I seriously laughed my behind of watching the photo-story from Winkgood

There is no way that anyone actually serious about getting survivor would take a PuG. I got Legendary Survivor on three different characters before Nightfall came out, and even without heroes it was much safer to go with henchmen than with other players.

The best part about the Survivor title is that you end up with a Skill Hunter (3) or (4) title also :P.
