Yes they do, without a doubt.
They also promote exploring, opening strang boxes found in the wilderness, identifying the objects found in those boxes as well as discovered on dead bodies and eating sweets.
Damn them and their subversive ways.

not anets responsability, its the parents that gives the kids money to "buy stuff" including games like guild wars with sublimal smoking measseges.

Your character died of liver disease, didn't he. And this is the result.

they have not 1 but 2 titles that requires your character stay drunk for hours on end (technically minutes but you can do the math).
how many people have you come across wanting to buy or sell alcohol so their characters can get drunk?
numerous children and people under the age of 21 play this game and see that it is OK to abuse alcohol.
the government currently regulates the sale, consumption, and advertising of controlled substances.

1. would you have any problem if monsters dropped packs of cigarettes and/or a smoking title was created?
2. no Anet does not condone killing people or monsters or whatever for loot. yes, most people are able to distinguish between real life and fantasy, but the abuse of alcohol blurrs that line.
now...this is what i want to know....
do you agree with my statement?
should anything be done about this?
is Anet at fault for anything? does the ESRB rating go far enough to protect children?

I think this is a thread just to ignite a flaming war.
Plus it's minutes drunk not necessarily how much you drink. I mean, people try to do the zoning trick to get minutes not drunker... I think anet is trying to get kids addicted to minutes.... Pretty soon, you will see teenagers with four watches on each wrist...
How about the sugar track? Probably Anet knows a dentist who needed a few more patients.

I used to play the Grand Theft Auto series in which I stole cars, planes, boats, helicopters, and so on. I also picked up hookers, killed thousands of people, used all sorts of lethal weaponry from katanas to grenades to rocket launchers. I went on speeding sprees with a tank and squashed streets of people and jumped of buildings (which I accessed via a stoled jumbo jet) and I robbed banks.
Call me dull or boring but I haven't actually did any of the above in real life. My point is that computer games aren't all that influential and drinking virtual spiked eggnog has never made me attracted to alcoholism in any way.

What game are you playing!? Guild Wars: ME (Moonshine Edition)..? j/k
Back on topic, I see no real connection between making your screen blurry and actually drinking -- certainly no more than between PvP and chasing someone around with a real sword. Also, the ESRB rating thing is there for a reason. Parents should know what their kids are doing, and "drinking" in a game should be one of the least of their concerns IMHO.

I vote to immediately remove ALL alcohol from the game and replace all of these drinking activities with smoking hash.

Yup, it also promotes:
-Violence against Asians, since you're always killing Jade Knights and Am Fah
-Eating disorders, with the sugar rush title
-Animal abuse, training attack pets and killing all manner of wild life for no good reason
-Child labor, since you can force Gwen to follow you around and heal you
This is fun, anyone got any more?

I know, I'm not helping but... Pfft, you are all missing the potentional. VOTE FOR PROHIBITION IN GUILD WARS! Who wouldn't want a Bootlegger title?! Create your own Stills! Find the best ingredients for your alcohol! Make beer, spirits and more!

-Female assassins are pro-ana... encouraging girls to be stick thin.
-Pyromancers encourage pyromania.
All I can think of now.
Edit: 'Crippled' is politically incorrect. It might cause us to offend those with mobility issues and disabilities.

You forgot the entire profession of necromancy. Exploding corpses, drinking blood, making offerings, raising corpses, cursing people/animals/other creatures... it's just not good at all!
