Oh oh!!! I think I have something figured out here now based on this. If Gaile doesn't KNOW if there will be a Collectors Edition, then I think it's probably fair to say that one of the truths is that this is an expansion and not a full game. If it where a stand-alone, then there would be no question on the CE, since each one previous has had a CE. It might even be fair to speculate that it's also true that you must own a previous chapter to play, and that it's all L20 content. If so, BRAVO ANet! This is exactly what the existing player-base needs. I have found that introducing new friends to Guild Wars is harder and harder each chapter, and that Pre-Searing Ascalon was the best introduction to the game yet (due to it's isolated nature and size). I figure that is someone wants to get involved with Guild Wars, they are very comfortable "starting from the beginning" and that the journey to L20 was too rushed in Factions, and to long (without fresh content) in Nightfall. This is something I think that ANet should keep in mind for GW2... Have ONE entrance to the game, and multiple addons for L20+ (or whatever the cap) once players are comfortable and familiar with the game.

My only comment here would be that it would be nice, if you REALLY are going to add 10 more heroes to the game that you build in some sort of incentive to use them, aside from just having different looking ones to chose from.... In other words, we already have a lot of heros from which to pull if we want to run specific 8 man teams for specific strategies. I am one of those guys who has 10 Characters, one for each class, and each has all of the heros (minus that Ritualist guy). Equiping this many heroes is a royal pain in the go red engine. I cannot imagine what 10 more would be like. Oh man... and I hate that obsessive nature that I have where I just have to have them all and all of them equipt nicely....

Um.... am I pointing out the obvious by stating that whatever information ANet would choose to omit as false would, by doing so, only leave in the information that was true, hench confirming it, which is I'm sure not allowed due to their contracts which the different gaming publications?

Agree with above, since nothing is confirmed it can't be confirmed as false now can it? Plus I bet the devs enjoy teasing us, I actually like it myself, its fun.

With that in mind, I have high expectations and hopes for GW2 and the future of the GW franchise. Remember, the original Everquest is still going strong even after the release of EQ2. Diablo 2 is run on private servers all across the world. A good game doesn't die, and I don't think ArenaNet would just toss Guild Wars aside for the next new thing. I expect that one way or another, the players who know and love GW will be able to play it for a long time.
|
On the other hand, the new player ratio on games that old is next to nothing. All you've got is a bunch of die-hards running around. I dunno if that is necessarily a good thing.
and about the screenshot...
The article is a tad misleading about this screenshot... it implies that it's a shot of Guild Wars 2... when it's clearly made with the GW graphics engine we all know and love (see how the chain is a 2d sprite?)

No no no... it's implying that it's a screenshot from GW: Eyes of the North, not GW2. Why would they already have a screenshot from a game that has another 2-3 years worth of developing?
Also, since it looks like some kind of Dwarven building, it would make a lot of sense to be in the north - like, Northern, Northern Shiverpeaks?

It could imply that its a GWEN screenshot (hence the snow) It looks pretty but gw just does and each chapter they slightly upgrade the graphics. I doubt it would be a GW2 screenshot seeing how that game isn't predicted to be released if at all for another...2-3 years.

Its a party, nothing excites GW players than a TON of new GW content.
If that screenshot is for real, I'll wet my pants it has some really nice graphics.

Now I think you're really pushing it. I think there most likely will be a CE but she probably doesn't want to officially commit to it just in case they do decide to forgo it later. To infer all that from that tiny statement is just seeing only what you want to see.
*shadowwolf, you need to watch that double posting with a seriousness
