PvE (only) would be the best thing that can happen. People bought this game for the no monthly fee, for the PvE content. And btw you guys can still own eachother in GW1.
For every PvP player that leaves, imo many PvE players will buy the game instead. You're outnumbered by a huge PvE playerbase. I think Anet realises PvE is the future.
MOD EDIT: This is not a PvE vs. PvP discussion thread. Any such conversations will be deleted promptly.

Anyone besides me noticed that guildwarseyeofthenorth.com has NOT been registered yet? 40 armour sets?!?! And a "massive 150 new skills"? I think who wrote this has played (but not much) of Guild Wars and that this is a sham. First of all, 150 new skills is not massive. With 10 classes that comes to 15 new skills each... hardly massive, and then of which 50 are PVE only? 10 new PvP skills each class??! I dunno... Count me a skeptic.

I'll buy Guild Wars two... maybe... but I've spent so much time on my GW1 characters that I don't think I can just drop them
I'd prefer just endless expansions rather than a full-fledged sequel. But that's just me.

The smaller skill number would be appropriate for an expansion-set. This is supposedly not a stand-alone campaign remember.
40 armor = 4 per class. Maybe the core profs will get a few more than the expansion.
Many PvP players have been *asking* for no new skills, because of the horrible state game balance is in. All they want is better balancing so more than a handful of existing skills are actually usable. Fewer skills and no new classes is welcome news, especially if the expansion will push/fund more rebalancing efforts.
P.S. I guess I've never thought about when sequels to MMOs come out. Did all EQ1/AC1/Lineage players immediately quit when the sequels for those were announced? Did any of those games let you port your characters over? Usually when devs want to make a sequel, they want to shake up things enough that old characters wouldn't fit the new framework, so I wouldn't expect any kind of useful porting over. The new game may feature a higher or lower level cap, expanded skill bars, different items and weapons, and many current skills won't exist in the new game because they encourage boring play (SF spam anyone?)
Personally I'll be happy to sit comfortably at UAX and PvP every now and then, and just skip out on GW2s likely subscription model.

Got here a little late.. but I call BS.
There is nothing on any NCSoft/Anet site, read the text, it says:
"NCSOFT HAS ANNOUNCED the development and release dates for regular annual expansion of Guild Wars universe", which is nothing we don't already know, it then tacks on the this "Eye of the North" trash.
It doesn't even sound like leaked information, as pointed out on the wiki it uses the british spelling "Armour", not the usual "Armor" C&P, it mentions "dungeons", since when did any release call this a dungeon? WoW-speak, sounds more like third-hand rumours; or stretching it a lot, a transcript of leaked info.
Don't believe everything you read, especially not from that site.
On another note, norns: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norns ;p

As long as they somehow link Guild Wars 1 to Guild Wars 2, then I'm happy to stay around for a couple years to play GW2. Can't afford to lose all my precious titles and etc. If not, I may just go back to FPS.
EDIT: After reading the bit by Skuld, my views have changed and I agree with the prospect of this being BS. Eh, sounded good for awhile though. We'll have to wait as usual.

Losing my main character for a brand new Guild Wars is a double-edged sword for me. Losing my main character would be a drag, but starting over completely (including the entire game community) would be neat, giving me a feeling of a "new frontier".

I think you should be able to do that, spending time and money on GW1, you should be able to transfer accounts to GW2.

As for not fitting with the current business concept..i fear that GW2 might turn out to be monthly fees

Monthly Fees will lose me as a customer.
Plus, I believe it's important to allow existing characters to transfer over - considering all the time people have put into the game.

If the GW2 thing were true (I'm calling bullshit on that one), I'd see no reason why you'd be able to transfer your character to the next installment. Would someone be able to enlighten me on how this "character transfer" would be fair?
As to the Eye of the North, if that's what it's called: Sounds awesome. I was always hoping that they would make an expansion pack and not a stand-alone campaign, even though the latter has many benefits. I'm really looking forward to it.
