No new continent for EotN - areas will be in, around and underneath Tyria...
... and possibly underneath Cantha and Elona as well!
According to the PCGamer article, there are four different 'adventuring areas' in EotN:
1. The northern Shiverpeaks: the lands of the Norn - giant mountain ranges, snowfields and glaciers.
2. The Charr homeland: north of Ascalon, 'green and verdant'.
3. The Tarnished Coast: borders the Maguuma Jungle (southern edge) - wet, rainy, large rock outcroppings and giant waterfalls. The Asura live here, having fled their underground homes where the Great Destroyer is a threat. Two screenshots of this area appear in the article, one showing a floating bridge over a jungle canyon and another showing what looks like a volcano beside some small waterfalls and green hills.
4. The Depths of Tyria: Catacombs/tunnels built by the Asuras, Dwarves and other subterranean races (e.g. the Dredge) over the centuries.
It appears that the underground complex of tunnels is a prominent feature of EotN. The story begins with players exploring these tunnels after earthquakes open entrances to them in Tyria, Cantha and Elona. As well as linking to all three continents, these tunnels seem to link up the other new areas - the Tarnished Coast, the Norn lands and possibly the Charr homeland too.
What is clear is that there is no new continent in EotN, unlike in Factions and Nightfall which introduced new, separate maps for Cantha and Elona. This seems appropriate considering that EotN will be an expansion, not another stand-alone Chapter. While the giant expanse of tunnels being introduced may warrant a whole new map in itself, it seems that the other new areas will expand beyond the current boundaries of the Tyrian map in various directions. The Norn homelands in the northern end of the Shiverpeaks must lie further north than we can see on the map, and the Charr homelands may stretch beyond the boundary as well. The Tarnished Coast could encompass an area further west than the large unexplored area south of the Maguuma than we can see now.
So either the boundaries of the Tyrian map will be extended, or ANet will just make some Pre-Searing-sized maps for the new above ground areas. I'd say it's more likely to be the former, since the Charr homeland and the Tarnished Coast explorable areas will probably include at least some locations on the current map of Tyria.
Are you thinking what I'm thinking? Could we finally be getting a world map? I mean, this will be the last expansion made to the world of Guild Wars I; will they take this opportunity to put the jigsaw together for us? I sincerely hope so.
I'd also like to present the question to you all: Would a world map really be good, and how exactly would it work for people who don't have every chapter? Would everyone be able to see Tyria, Cantha and Elona even if they didn't have the Chapters that introduced each continent, or should the map be limited depending on which Chapters you do have? Or would being able to travel from Ice Tooth Cave to Unwaking Waters or Camp Hojanu in just one double-click introduce too much freedom, or detrement the game in some other way?

Yay thx thats the information i wanted ^^
And about world map, maybe it could be possible, people who dont own all campaign could see a land unexplored and cant travel there? And i really like the idea about traveling to all outposts from all outposts across all 3 lands....would be great.

Much thanks for all of the additional info Symeon, I've really been meaning to ask someone who had the mag, more details in to what exactly it would look like.
I think Anet would be foolish to not make a world map, this is last chapter, and like you said, the last jigsaw piece. My guess, is yes. Although I thought they would at Chapter 3, with Elona, I think now would be by far the best time.
Either way, with all of these tunnels and stuff...It'll make it alot easier to get Cartographer title! If there is one.
And yes, a world map would be great, thanks.

My main concern about the large map though is that will it even work? Considering (I don't know if this is true or not) that Cantha and Tyria/Elona are not even completely attached as Elona and Tyria are? Where would cantha fit if they even tried to improvise it? I was suspecting Chp4 to be the missing link of landscape... now we'll never know

They've referenced where Cantha is in relation to Tyria; you can find "world maps" that have spliced the maps together.
I'm curious: what will the Protector title be named, if the catacombs go under all 3 continents =O
Protector of GWEN XD

Or, they could ditch the map idea altogether like they did in Torment. That's what they tend to do with underground areas. Just have a static map with roughly representative outpost locations, with no fogging. One map per act to keep it manageable.
The known matching points of the statue seen from crystal overlook and in the dune sea don't triangulate properly, it places the poisoned outcrops in the middle of thirsty river and such. Also GW:EN's outdoor locales are all around Tyria so there's no need to involve Elona/Cantha. So I doubt we'd see them all put together.

I believe there is an official world map somewhere that is recent with Elona/ Tyria/ Cantha all on it. Cantha is quite far south. I saw it in the lore forums. It had trade routes and was quite interesting to see.
Maybe its a sign we will be getting a world map in game?

There's some information at the bottom left corner of that map. I can only make out the last part that says "all right reserved". there's also something mentioned twice that's been TradeMarked after the name... It almost looks like Guild Wars, but I cant tell. It's got ©2006 in there as well

I don't really like this underground idea if it follows areas like Realm of Torment or Sunspear Sanctuary - in the sense that once you leave that zone, everything becomes blurry again and you must un-fog it again.

I'd put my money on official.
If it is fan made they certainly put a lot of effort into it, they even filled in the area to the East of Ascalon.

I agree, that's really good fan work!
Speaking of maps, the logo for Guild Wars 2 has a very cool map embedded into the logo itself. Look for that behind the numeral "2" in the logo. I think it's a really elegant touch.

world map would be great, beats having to boat travel each time just to get across each continent. as for how it would work for people who don't have access to certain lands they cant map there if there isn't a city to map to, like it is with pvp chars when you travel so you can ab you cant go any where on cantha. i just hope if that gw:en expands areas in tyria it doesn't mean that i have to go explore those areas to regain grandmaster cart in tyria
will have to wait till gw2 to see how the continents connect to each other geographically around the world

It’s kind of sad that the Guild War World map was never completed (continent wise). Can’t really stick that map on a round globe and spin it around, without it missing a good chunk of areas. I was wondering in some odd set of circumstances will each continent have their own special area in Eye of the North. It seems that everything is focused around Tyria itself (from what I read) and not around Elona and Cantha. Yes I understand Prophecies still never answered some rather crucial questions (i.e. Gwen, Seer’s, and etc.). However some questions still remain about the other continents like Scarab Plague in Nightfall.
I guess all of these questions must stay hidden for some apparent reason or let the audience speculate onto the reasoning behind it.

Good stuff. The Catacombs and SF are probably my 2 favorite PvE environments.
