Amusingly enough, the two words used in concert to describe this little guy happen to be antonyms of each other.
What's with the recent overreactions? And we had just finished with the SotG trainwreck too.

For the record, since my earlier post seems to have resonated well with the Asura-hating crowd, I was trying to explain why people hate it (I guess I was on-target), not why I hate it.
Personally, I'm completely reserving judgment. They might be groovy.
I feel the same way about this little guy as I did when I saw Jar-Jar Binks (ew) on the front cover of a magazine for the very first time. I thought to myself, if that thing is a kickass Jedi warrior, he's cool. If he's a stupid alien clown, then Lucas is on crack.
Same goes for the Asura.
I really hope it turns out better than the whole Jar-Jar thing did...
And arcanemacabre, Luxon turtles are cute, there's no doubt about that, but they aren't cuteSY. There is a difference.

Elves are cool too, but they have to have normal design- do you really think Guild Wars everyone nows will be the same (or better) Guild Wars with this little asuras running around? I mean what the hell is that? Its disgusting man + rabbit offspring- thats not even normal -,-
|
I think you are looking for "typical", not just "normal". We are in a land of magic, I would not say a lot of what we have run across is "normal". Dwarves and elves and such are such a typical staple of fantasy games people rarely even bat an eye when one crosses their path. The Asura is not typical which I think can be a good thing. Maybe it is the platypus of the GW world *shrugs* I cant fathom to guess until I see them in action.

You didnt even quote me properly, only half quoted..
To be honest, i hate the dwarves, have never liked them and dont think they look in any way cool, but then that has been my point in almost every game (PC or tabletop), but then i've always been more of an elf person, so i guess that explains it.
I like the Asura and cant see why it doesnt fit, why it would ruin anyone's fun as a mini-pet or make you sick. Ultimately, it's not something you actually have to get and mini-pets are pretty easy to ignore anyway (even in towns).

My dear elite_guru_that_ooh_can't_read
I said before that I dont care about asura as long as it will be only mini pet- I dont give a damn thing about mini pets in general
I said that I'd hate to see this guy (only larger) to become one of the playable races in GW 2
Which part you don't understand?
Oh, and why they don't fit...
Hmm, good question, wow hard one... lemme see...
Ears?
Eyes?
Mouth?
Looks in general?
If that someone who has posted that asuras are demon-like creatuers is true, and in GW 2 they will be kinda demons...
Does it look like demon?
If you still dont get it look at dwarves and compare
I cant express with words how do I feel about having one of those in my team... I mean asuras...
I guess I will offend players that will play these pokemons... I wish I could help it, but its stronger than me, I just can't look at pikachu and dont kick it in the head, then rip his hear off and eat it...
It makes me sick pretty easily... If you dont know how such things can make you sick so fast go see uhh dunno, some s**t like digimons, pokemons, whatever
And now you're bringing pokemons in GW...
For Balthazar's sake, look- Melandru just hang herself! Thank you GW Design team! 1 god down, 4 to go

Tone it down everyone. Please leave your sarcasm and flamebait out of this thread. Some like it, some don't. Agree to disagree.

Fair enough (yes, i read your post, but the mini-bit didnt register...doh), but as GW2 or anything about it is mostly nothing more than rumor and speculation, i dont think it's something any of us should get worked up about yet...let's wait for some real information.
I still dont like the Dwarves and wouldnt choose to have one with me (and definately would not play one), but i'd still get it if it was released as a mini or hero as i like to collect them all.
Personally, i'd much rather have a Charr or a Tengu to a Dwarf any day, but that's just my opinion...much like your's has a distinctly favourable preference for the Dwarves.

I too wouldn't want to be a dwarf- in my opinion, one race as it is is okay... I posted image of stone summit dwarves because I wanted to show how much difference is between this asura and dwarves...
I don't care if in GW 2 Tengu, dwarves etc will be playable, but by the five gods, at least if AN makes a playable races, make it GW-ish, not pokemon-ish...
@Prowlinger- when I looked at your avatar I knew I must add you to my list...

Hey I'm just glad I don't have to pay 6 or 7 times the price of a local mag to buy an imported one.
-also buying for the feature, the pet is a bonus.

Why on earth would it need to look like a demon? Do humans look like Demons? Avicara? Luxons/Kurzicks? No.
Appearance means very little in determining whether or not it's an ally or a creature with evil intent. Some people want to say it looks alien, but that's what The Seer/Mursaat are. Others think it's "too cute," even though they ignore damn near every pet and character appearance in the game.
If people don't like how it looks, don't make one, assuming it's a playable race. If it's in the game as an allied NPC, you'll only see them through about 1/4 of the game. Bitching this much over a skin slapped on an NPC is ridiculous.
FYI: Stone Summit are just dwarves in evil-looking armor. Underneath they're the same as all the other dwarves in appearance. Demons? I think not. I'm sure Asura will have armor as well, so stop trying to judge things we know nearly nothing about. A portion =/= the whole.

Notice a couple things... very large eyes - adaption for night vision/ nocturnal existance... large ears for hearing - again helps with a 'dark' existance. Powerful forearms and short (assumedly) powerful legs... it's definitely, if biology doesn't fail me, a subterranean creature that likely ventures to the surface at night. Not build for speed, so either vegetarian/omnivorous... possibly also a stealth/ambush hunter. Would need to see the teeth to be sure.
Any pics of one smiling?

I think the oddity of this race fits in well in the GW world along with the Dredge, rain beetles, afflicted, the Seer, the Forgotten and warrior Primeval armor (first time I saw it I thought it came from another game).

People get uptight about the smallest things who knows if it will be a playable race or not, right now it is hear say. Who actually knows if they are going to revamp the entire look and feel of GW2 from GW1 and it does not stick to what we have been currently playing to this date.
I will just wait and see what is released with the article in the various game magazine's and then give my point of view, right now it is too early to say much of anything you can luv it or hate it but this may draw a new crowd of people to GW who knows.

But the magazines only get a win-win situation if they take the mini-pet (unless they have to pay for it). Because people don't care if the code is in it if they buy the magazine it's just one line of text, but they attract the people that wan't the mini-pet so they can almost only get more people
