Because Anet sold the game on the grounds that it would be continuing and accumulative. They are now changing their word, and there needs to be some collateral for those who made an investment in the game. Similar to the stock market, really. But if you feel "sorry" for someone who isn't a little panty-waist like you, and someone who recognizes investment and claim, then I don't feel sorry for you at all, tool.

Yes. Yes I would. Because if I knew I was coming back to life and I wanted my clothes, I'd preserve them somehow. Come on, jackass.

You're right. If I try to take my clothes over to Africa, they'll disappear.

No, but it means I should and I'll do whatever it takes to get that recognition, because I'm not a tool*.

The fact that they are pretty much discredits everything you've said.

Totally logical, Mesmerman. But even though we would like to take over bling items, I'm not certain Anet will do it. I think the main argument for allowing it is that there's no such thing as an uber weapon in GW, everything has a max stat and at the end of the day, it's just some nice skins that we want to carry over.
Wait and see... :/

I believe there will be some incentive for veterans of Guild Wars to pick up Guild Wars 2.
Whether it includes armor, weapons, titles, mini-pets, or something else remains to be seen.
Again, I fail to see what the outrage is all about, since we really don't know the exact nature of the "inheritances" is.

Hall of Monuments & FOW Armor Reward in GW2

All these people that are thinking "Yay, I'm going to keep my FOW/minipet/titles!" had better get ready for a disapointment. OK maybe, just maybe, it will turn out that we will unlock replica FOW for our GW2 toons, but I'd bet a Superior Vigor rune that anything we unlock will be cosmetic only.

Hopefully, in this discussion we can be optimistic about the HOM and in return give some suggestions on how the rewards should be, so it will give ideas for the dev team at anet - as for fow armor I believe a player that had fow armor in gw1 should have it in gw2 at the “start” of the game in gw2 - however it should be a armor type like heroes in gw1 (nightfall) when their armor would increased as they lvl-ed and i think that should be the case with the HOM armor reward for players of gw1 with fow armor or even 15k armor of any type. this will indeed make many old school vets happy and wont make them too powerful at the start of the game but will show players newer gw2 that this player is a vet player, this method will make players who have earned Fow armor in gw1 happy.

I really hope the rewards from the hall of monuments are minor, and mostly cosmetic. Anything else would be cruel to the kids currently complaining that their "accomplishments" in Guild Wars will be for naught when Guild Wars 2 is released. They might waste even more time on the illusions that there is such things as accomplishments in a computer game. There aren't. Just like there aren't any Santa Claus who brings out gift to the good children, not any Easter Bunny delivering eggs. It is something you have to learn when growing up.
You should play computer games because they are fun to play. If you want to accomplish something, study harder in school. The time you spend on computer games are not an "investment" (unlike the time you spend on school), it is a diversion. If you found that Guild Wars was (is) a fun diversion, chances is that Guild Wars 2 will be fun as well.

Hell, they should make that rule work for Armor in general.
I think I bought "mid-level" armor once - when i first played the game. After that, I realized you just worked your way to the point where Max armor is, and buy (or collect) it then.
Honestly, why not have armor level with you? Assuming there would be a Max level of armor, of course.

Yes games are for fun but I beg to differ look at WoW farmer working in sweat shop farming gold and earning a living off e bay in some third world country.Thou it not legal etc etc there are real financial gain in the virtual market. To Pro Gamer this is real cold hard cash that some can actually earn a living out of it.
And telling kids to grow up before their time is plain cruel.Yes go ahead tell your own kids there no Santa Claus kill their hope let them join the mindless workers class that their purpose in life is work till they die

plz people plz use common sense. all armor and some weapons are customized for your character. NOBODY else can wear it. not even your great-great-great grandson/daughter who will be your character in gw2. sorry, but its not going to happen.
and if you could bring it over it will probably be like this-
you can wear the armor and wield the weapons that your ancestors wore, but they are so fragile now that one hit on you, or one swipe on that sword and it will fall apart immediately and transform itself into a pile of dust. so in other words, you wouldn't be able to use your items, but you can brag about them while in a town, and 99/100 people will not care one bit. also, you wouldn't be able to sell them either, as that would cause an unfair advantage to the new players in gw2, and to the people that played a short time in gw1, and the people like me, who are perfectly fine with having armor that only cost me 1.5k apiece.
