It's like Vangouh.(I think that's the way his name is spelled.) His abstract art makes some people hate him and others love him.

Anet is like that.

Umm the Gavel of the Nephilim was a winner of the design a weapon contest. If you think it looks ugly, blame the player community (aka us) for not being able to come up with a better design.
Plus, you really have to zoom in on that hammer and see some of the detail to really appricate it.

Am I alone in this? I also looked up the crystaline sword, and it's really goofy looking.. Is this just a cruel joke played on us by the devs?

You are a graphic designed yet fail to realise beauty is in the eye of the beholder. While I absolutely hate modern art many others like it. While some dislike greens many like them.

Nothing wrong with -10Al either. I have alot of -10Al, -5 Energy etc weapons and they work fine.

Sorry can't let this go. Van Gogh was an Expressionist (a long way from abstract art). You can probably count on the fingers of one hand the people who don't like his art.

I like most of the greens. They have put alot of effort into most of the skins and they look gorgeous.

But my personal opinion is that elemental weapons get the rare end of the deal.

Elemental fire weapons for instance; they always just re-use the bog standard staff and wand skins that we get from common drops.

Air, earth and water greens tend to look alot nicer then fire gear. They look unique. The only unique item we get for Fire is Ragos.

Victos Blade is one of the most beautiful greens in GW, even though it's just an already "known" skin, the shadow blade, albeit, less impressive in size than it should be. Watch the Shadow Warriors and compare.

It's van Gogh but your point is clear indeed.

As for the guy who started this thread, Mr Enchanted Warrior, I did seem to remember you from a thread recently where you were moaning and bitching about a mission saying you were gonna quit the game and play something else....

Is that your reason to be on this forum? Just to start negative threads?

@Divinus Stella - Gavel of the Nephilim was also one of the winners in the last Design a Weapon contest.

They seem to give new greens the most popular stats, thus the sundering. For some strange reason, the majority of players seem to think this is a great upgrade for a weapon. The "perfect stats" seem to be 15^50 sundering +30hp according to what is selling at the highest prices for melee golds. This is the downside of ANet paying attention to the player chat and forums.

Like most people have said, the weapon's beauty is a matter of opinion, me for exmaple thinks that the Ugly Sticks it a skin of beauty (how ironic) I love to grab that hammer a run around screaming "Me smash" (Caveman style). Also, I love the Rago/mindclouder skin, jeweled staff FTW I guess. I agree with Darcy about the popular stats idea (sine the NF end of game daggers were all 15^50 Zealous +30HP, consider to be best dagger stats by many)

Ever since the greens came out, I told myself I wouldn't ever use one unless (1) they had a beautiful skin that was unavailable on a gold or collector weapon or (2) I completed a mission, quest or skill cap and earned that green myself.

To date, I think the only green that I have and use regularly are the Wayward Wands that I earned from the completion of Factions. I would love to have an Urgoz's Longbow, but just can't get over the fact that a Flatbow with RtW or FW is superior to the Longbow. I guess the old function over appearance still gets me...

I quite like my Villnar's Set.

Some to take a look at:
Hand of the Forgotten
Ungues of the Forgotten
Sword of the Forgotten
Villnar Set

Those are my favorites.

Personally, I'm not too interested in what the skin on my weapon looks like as long the item works. If I want something with particular stats, I farm the collector drop and get it that way. If I do get a green though, I usually just sell it or put it on a hero.

I have to admit, however, that some of the skins looks quite nice. I personally like Mallyx's Reaver, even though I'm not a big Warrior fan.

Say ... you're an artist, right? Have you ever considered designing something for the Design-a-Weapon contest (which has to be postmarked by March 30th)? Who knows! Your design might actually make it into the game.

Beauty isn't always in the eye of the beholder in what it looks like. People do like things, and think they are "beautiful" just because of what it does.

Ahhh, this reminds me of a argument of Socrates against Euphiroro(sp) about beauty. I know how to say his name but cant remember how to spell it. Ancient Greek names are always hard to spell.

Huh? Explain that again, because I think you just contradicted yourself, but I might be just not understanding you.

If greens is ugly, should A-Net remove it from Chapter 4?

I have no complains about the skins, but for god's sake Anet should do something about the size of the warrior's and assassin's weapons. Each passing chapter it seems to be getting smaller and smaller.

"Fear me! I' gonna whack you with this matchstick!"

Read the edit. But when it comes to beauty its usually based on what something is seen rather do. Hmm, wanted to point that out, but maybe I assumed to much on what people thought. From what I read during this thread, a lot of people are telling others, that from what It looks like doesn't always suit someone's taste and suit to another person. Where some can reject that idea of what it looks like, and only like for what it does.
