True, I didn't think of it that way. But, who is to say we will be representing anyone or anything? Reguardless if there is Faction's like that in Guildwars 2 inside the races, we should still be able to make a dwarf look different much like we do with our human playable characters. Give it all more detail, more story, more life.
Also! Lydz said it perfectly in just a few words. As cliche'd as they are, the Dwarves have played in a lot of the lore and it wouldn't seem right if we couldn't play them.

Stone summit dwarves look awesome, i like how their faces hide in the shadows of their helmets.
Undead, they will work.
My choice of existing species as playable races,
Heket
Juggernaut (extremely low chance)
Seers, the alien that infuses armour
Non existing species as playable races,
Tree humanoids
Depending on technology, some mechanical humanoid
Dragonkin - too much of that in other games though
Otherwise im satisfied with the ones given, you have to love the charr. You have to.

The Kuzrick Juggernauts are a type of being, much like the undead. They where formerly this, and transformed into that. They aren't so much a race, but rather a type of being from the human race.

Hmmm, transform into Juggernaut skill?
That would be a cool PvE only skill....

Charr buddies with humans is funny!
I recon in GW:EN you probably travel to their homeland and end the feud between them. am i right in saying it was partly abaddons fault the searing began and they were made to.

an earlier poster mentioned a faun or satyr race... I would kill my firstborn child to play a satyr!
ok ok.... maybe not that extreme, but that would just be the ultimate in cool for me.

I'm thinking Tengu and Centaurs are good contenders. I'm interested how female Dwarves would be represented...and Charr for that matter. By the precedence of female humans I doubt they would be very burly, but you never know. If Forgotten happen to make the cut, how long before people start asking for quadruple wield?
I'd like to see a race similar to the Naiads.

Any races would be good as long as you get to use the core classes (warrior, mesmer, ele, ranger, necro, monk..etc).

I disagree.
Those races are just as viable as the current races. Not to mention that this is hundreds of years into the future from the current Guild Wars, any number of things could have happened in between that time.

According to the Factions manual, they were friendly to humans before the Jade Wind, so who knows? In a couple centuries, they might become so again...

If you read the article agian you'll find that those are only some of the races there going to use ! So I think there probably will be Tengu char. and then some.I'm hoping for at least 8 races

They might just take the classic MMO approach, 4 good, 4 evil. OR make them all good. The difference would probably be no faction issues and pvp options inside of PvE.

that would be cool if guild wars 2 was called "race wars"......but since its not i dont think there is a evil/good side, just some more guilds.....battle it up maybe?for the second time........

Well, I would have to presume they are going to intend to make them all good. With the information known about the Gw:EN expanion, it states the races basically have to unite in order to fend off a greater threat.
It also states that this is the bridge from Guildwars to Guildwars 2. So taking that into account, I would have to presume the races are still united at the time we play Guildwars 2!

You guys have to take into account the logistics of a playable race like the Kurzick Juggernaut. What about their armor? What abilities? It will never happen.
Most likely, dwarves will be playable and some other humanoid species- possibly new ones we haven't even seen.

Look at the new races being introduced... then you realize that you may need to delve outside of normal game mythos and into the deeper human mythologies. One possibility... the Nix.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nix_%28water_creatures%29
Or... from here: http://www.gods-heros-myth.com/northgods.html
GAHE Also GA'AN (Apache) -
Supernatural beings who dwell inside mountains. The can sometimes be heard dancing and beating drums. Because they can heal and drive away disease, they are worshipped. In the ritual dances of the Chiricahua Apache masked dancers painted a different color for each point of the compass represent all the Gahe except the Grey One. The Grey One, though he appears as a clown, is really the mightiest of all the Gahe.
This is the path I believe ANet will take, proving us all to be wrong in our speculation.

I completely agree with you as well. ANET seems to dig deep and dig far to the other side to find mythological beings we no longer easily remember.
I do expect this sort of thing, and thank you entirely for that information. Rather fun I do say. But, I still expect to see Dwarves, Centaurs and Tengu.

Yes they are factions, but if you ever went to Sorrow's Furnace there are several occasions where you can see the Stone Summits faces. They have a pale tan/grey skin and slightly different features. I'll get a pic up.
EDIT:http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Dagnar_Stonepate
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Priest_of_Sorrows
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Rage_Binder
Not the best pics but you get the idea.
Also, these mentions of skales, drakes, and such are ridiculous. I suppose they could make some stupid lore to it, but atm we haven't even seen a sentient one. And how on earth will a drake wield a bow, or any weapon for that matter. It would be quite random if Anet suddenly said, "Oh, by the way, remember all these skales you fought? It turned out they had an underground lair where they controled all the dumb ones through telekinesis, and they had an excellent plot to destroy Ascalon until you and Gwen killed their queen at the river. And of course the Charr got their first as well. Anyways, have fun!"
There's a reason they are introducing Sylvari, Norns, and Asuras in GWEN. So it doesn't seem like they just pulled them out of their *** for GW2.
Also Undead, Margonite, etc. No, just no. Undead aren't a sentient race as someone else said. They were just pulled up by the Lich to be his servants. And the Margonites are evil, they are the soldiers of Abbadon. Again, it would be like Anet saying," By the way, all these Margonites decided they would forgive you for killing Abbadon, and now want to be your friends!"
Some races I would like to see are Dwarves, Centaurs, Dredge, and Tengu. Still, I dont think I'd like all of them. That's quite a few races if we got those + the 5 announced. More balancing issues.
