I have protector of Tyria and Cantha, and it is in no way a display of how much skill you have. I don't have Elona because I don't feel like going back and doing all of the bonuses (some of them timed).

Regardless of if and what the requirements for Hard Mode will be, I think it'll be fun going back through some areas and have it be a challenge again. Seems inevitable that the game gets harder and harder gradually. I remember back in the beta days when people complained the 'The Wilds' mission was too difficult.
Lockpicks? That sounds interesting. My Treasure Hunter title is up to snuff, but my Lucky title is nonexistant. Strange req for that. Oh well, guess I'll have to stand in a circle during the next event for an entire weekend while I play something else.

I completely agree with that - it's the part where I may have to do it again on easy first (either because my character is new or didn't get the req first time) that I have issue with.
I've been playing GW since release - I think I should be the judge of whether I can tackle hard mode. I won't come here and whine if it's too hard, but I will make a hissy fit if I'm excluded for some arbitrary reason.

Hard Mode
I hope that hard mode will not be another DoA. DoA is lame (all you need to do is aggro nuke, repeat - try anything else and you wont make it.)
Suggestions:
Update Monster AI so an aggro'd group will look for low armor / health targets within their compass bubble rather than unleashing everything they have on the first person they see.
Leave monsters with between 20 (normal) 22 (elite) 24 (bosses)
Give them real skill bars and group setups with a mix of professions and damage types (Hexes, Physical Elemental). Make sure a group has:
Hex management
Condition Management
Ressurection Skills
Interrupts
I dont want to see skills like "Enraged" or any BS like that... please
Above all I dont want aggro - nuke - repeat. That takes very little skill and quickly gets boring.
Please Anet dont RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO this up... i'll send candy if it works right.

That Gaile quote needs some elaboration, but it doesn't bode well.
It's odd to specify ascended *and* finished the game, since you can't really finish without ascending. I suppose it's possible in Prophecies, but that would be an achievement by itself - maybe worthy of a title. "Lesser Victor" anyone?
I could maybe live with ascended + character finished any other chapter or ascended + any character finished the chapter, but not being forced to complete a chapter with a specific character before that same character can be used in that chapter, in hard mode. I have 10 characters for christs sake!
Nope, bottom line is - any requirement for a play mode is exactly the kind of garbage that I hate about this game. I either play the way I wish or I, well, don't...

Leaving the levels alone will just be plain silly.
level 22 = normal
level 24 = elite
level 28 = bosses
That's the way a hard mode should be. Can't beat it? Then ya don't deserve the hard mode titles.

If you complete the game with a monk, why should you be allowed into hard mode as a warrior? You could be a good monk but a terrible warrior. I don't want GARBAGE players coming into my groups.
I either play the way I wish or I don't play at all? Are you stupid or something? ANET isn't sitting here making hard mode just for you so that you can get what you want. Why don't you ask them to make all bosses drop perfect items for you all the time? As long as you get what you want.
If you have a problem with the way hard mode is set up, then just do what you say you were gonna do: not participate in hard mode at all. That's one less whiner to deal with against a real challenge for a change.
In fact, I don't think completing a campaign and ascending is ENOUGH to get in. Anyone can complete a campaign. I think it should require protector of that chapter to let you in. Maybe even some more.
If hard mode is too hard for you, then don't play it. Simple as that. And that goes for anyone here. Stay out of hard mode and let the actual skilled players do their thing without having to weed out all the morons.

I think you misunderstand. I'm pretty sure he want's cleverer foes, rather than just god-mode ones. Typically a god-mode foe will actually become quite easy, once the "correct" tactic is found. A smarter foe, that adapts and uses a varied skill set should always provide a challenge, without that "impossible", "impossible", "impossible", oh I got it, "easy" sensation of most bosses.
Oh and titles? When exactly did they become the very backbone of GW? Some of us still hate them, y'know.

Thats fine my me... i just dont want to see anet take the easy way out and make it "hard" just be increasing the Monster levels and giving them imbalanced skills like Enraged ala DoA.

Someone once tried to convince me that drawconditions + plague sending was a good skill combo to take on a Monk/Nec bar on a FoW clear...
"Obviously you don't know what it does"
I just LoL'd and left the group.

No. We don't need to remove features from the game to make hard mode interesting.
