a minipet battle arena that activates once your account turns 2
OR min characters, I would love to have a mini female ranger <3 however then I think people would complain cause the characters armor wasn't what they wanted and so forth. A minipet arena takes up no inventory space and it would give me something fun to do - 100 faction to the winning minipet owner or team.. Obviously they would all have to have similar skills and same HP and MP like when we do the snowball arena... For me that would be fun! Of course I wouldn't get to play till august but -_-

Sorry, but I'll continue to complain. I dont feel like they value me as a customer. No, I dont respect that they are entitled to give out presents to everyone else but me, its down right unfair.
Thats like a parent telling one of their children that they dont deserve a present on their birthday because they broke a rule that was never told to them.
The rule is: If you delete a character in Guildwars you will be punished for it. We hold the right to tease you into making new characters by releasing new chapters with new professions, new faces, and new hair styles. Please delete your old characters and make our new characters so we dont have to take the time and appreciate you as a valued customer.

It's a present for your character's birthday. To commemorate you having kept it that long and everything you've done with it. It's not a present to commemorate you having constantly deleted and recreated your characters over and over since you created your account a year ago.

Only deleted them once, prior to the release of Factions. My account is almost 2 years old.
The more I think about it the more I feel that more mini-pets are a waste of time. They dont do anything but take up valuable inventory anyways.
Maybe if you could equipe the mini-pets with a skill of your choice, or if they had some type of buff they could cast on you that would last XX number of seconds.
Like:
HP buff
MP buff
Speed buff
Critical % increase buff
+1 to attribute buff
A good luck buff to increase drop rate by a small %
etc
It would be cool.

A buff would obviously be cool, but would unbalance the game. And we all know how Anet doesn't want people with more money (to buy minis with good buffs) to have an advantage over those without money. It may not always be minipets, but whatever they give us is always going to be generally "useless". It'll be a fun little treat for you to enjoy or something aesthetic, but it'll never be something to help you in battle and there's nothing wrong with that.

I don't think everyone should get the same one, maybe just not make any of them super-ultra rare.

I don't mind what it is as long as IS NOT TRADEABLE. People who didn't have characters for anywheer near 2 years will have the special prize. Thats not right. So as long as whatever we get IS NOT TRADABLE I will be happy.

^^^^^ I'll throw in a vote for anything that CAN'T BE TRADED.
No point in giving me anything special if you don't actually have to wait 2 years for it.

Not bad ideas, slightly unfair. And would never be useable in PvP.
Seems a title or even a Emote is the best idea. Untradeable (almost), different, and fair.
And ofcourse we are still going to get only mini-pets.

They don't value you because you didn't get a mini pet? We all have our priorities I suppose.

lol That is so silly it's funny. Minipets were ADDED to the game. Like half of the other features. There WAS no hidden rule for it, they added it after you nuked your character. If you make it account based, then people like you complain that they only get one per account instead of per character. It's a lose-lose situation for ANET I suppose. If you really want one so bad you can buy a pig for 3k, but you could be just a SMIDGE more realistic.

Right on. It's to say "Wow, you stuck it out with this character. You didn't 'get sick' of them, you kept going and perservered." Yeah, you can do that with a mule, but heck, that's more than make and wipe.

Whatever it is, I just hope people don't complain when they get it. It's a freebie that everyone will eventually have and a nice gesture from the company.

I'm sure we'll see many complaints about whatever it is from the oh so grateful GW community
I honestly don't care what people get for their second birthday, whatever it is they're going to whine that it "sucks" eventually. As said before, something non-tradable would be best, maybe have a pop-up screen type thing in-game that tells you it's your second birthday and gives you a list of items to choose from, all special in their own way. That way we get what we want and people will be less likely to whine
Yeah, I'm holding onto the false hope that this year people will whine less.
Look, I whined about people whining, I'm such a hypocrite.

Your missing the point, Mini-pets are a reward for keeping a character for over a year.
This second year birthday presents are going to sting because less and fewer people have characters from 2 years ago.
And if they happen to keep one for that long, chances are we (2nd birthday peeps) will be on our 3rd or 4th birthday.

I understand that, but it's something that is free. A gesture of kindness. A gesture of appreciation. No one knew how it was going to work, and some deleted their toons. I understand this, but this was an addition to the game, not some planned sleight against anyone.
Right now, everyone knows how it works. I do not see how being a few months behind some people in getting an object that has no effect on gameplay (other than blocking a valuable inventory slot) is a big deal.
I've heard almost everything in this thread about deleting toons, from people who are mad because they figured out a better build to people who wanted new hairstyles. Well, I'm guessing better builds and new hairstyles were had. What's there to be mad about? Not getting a vanity item that you'll eventually get anyway? So instead of 1 per character, people want 1 per account? That doesn't compute.
Every single time ANET does something for us to say thank you, be it a mini-pet, an event, or a new addition like SF, people have complained. I'm not blind to where I just say those complaints were unjustified... some of them were very righteous, but on the subject of birthday presents, I think people just need to figure out what their focus is, and just appreciate the generosity of the gift and the work and planning that went into it.

Surely you'd have thought that by now ANet would know that most of us like what they do...and the people who complain and whine are in the minority. After all, who doesn't like a cute little siege turtle? Who doesn't like the opportunity to get free alcohol and sweets from special events? I'm willing to bet most people who complain about these things are secretly happy about them when they happen.

Some people always have to find a way to complain. I'm pretty much in the same boat, I've owned the game for near on two years, but deleted my first character so I could play through the whole thing again with a friend. Get over it, like was pointed out, it's your characters birthday, not your accounts birthday. It would be a lot less meaninful and even easier to obtain these things if it just went by your account.
Personally, I hope it's not just another mini-pet for your second birthday. I think they're a cool little distraction, but they're traded around so much they don't really show anything, I would have prefered if they could only be used by the person who recieved them, just so they're something for people who have been playing the game for that long. But I'm sure a lot of people would disagree there.
I hope they do something really big and special for your second birthday, maybe decorating an entire town would be going a bit far, but I'd be happy with a special birthday hat. I really love the hats because they're a reward only for the people who were there at the time, I've missed a few myself, but I don't see why people have to get so worked up over these things.
