90 of those 150 new skills are elites right? So I can finish my title.

Nope indeed there are 2 professions I have never touched to date. so I had no desire for another 2 to fuss with through 4 chapters. Even though the Trident Wielder, and Summoner were interesting new classes that would have added another aspect to the game... In the end They were not needed considering the existing variety already available.
By just adding new territory it allows then to focus on skill balance and missions EARLY... and not have the typical over powered build hit the the game at the beginning to be nerfed heavily soon after... Plus the additional Skills will buff EXISTING professions even more, thus allowing the people that works so hard on their loyal classes to be even better, without havening to go all the way back to the beginning with yet another class... I have been saving Paragon and Ritualists for some day way in the future when I am bored stiff with my existing characters... Hell My warrior I deleted after about 3 weeks using it cause it was so boring... I unlocked about 40% of the skills, and basically said. This is a waste of time to fuss with. There is no shortage of meat shields in the game so being a warrior is almost pointless unless PvP or GvG... Sure some people like it. OK fine great. It is not my thing so I didn't enjoy it... But so yea I got 3 classes basically unused in my account... Someday I'll go back and do it all again. but at this point there is no point until I am so bored I actually would want to do it... So far that has never happened...

The problem with chapters is they have to include a lot of content for new characters that goes wasted for all the existing characters, but if you make the newbie content too short, people will complain.
I can't believe that 10 professions isn't enough variety.
I'm very happy GW:EN will be all level 20 content. I don't want the entire first half of the game to be extremely easy, as it must be for people who just bought it as a stand-alone chapter and are still learning.

100 new pvp skills? That's only 10 per class then. Maybe they're all going to be elite. :P
Big step back with the pve-only skills though. The worlds of pve and pvp separate completely. Even now, using the Sunspear rebirth signet feels like cheating... let alone using the silly damage bonanza of LB gaze. I bet the new pve skills will be just like that.
5-1/4-5 Skill "Deal 500 dmg to target foe and all nearby foes. This skill can only be used on servants of the Evil Frog King of the North."

Don't be concerned... Guild Wars support won't dry up until after Guild Wars 2 comes out!

n my opinion, the least that the developers could do for us is develop GW:EN into a final CHAPTER instead of releasing it as a mere feeble, half-assed, cop-out, turd burglar, all-your-eggs-in-one-basket of an Expansion. I know I could be patient for a later release date if it meant a full game instead of an expansion.
|
Your kidding right? I understand that PvE will get really interesting and fun about 50 PVE only skills! As I understand it the areas have been in development now for more than 9 months already and still we have 7 - 9 months to go. This means that GW:EN is going to rock your world like Nightfall did but even more so. It already has more DEV time then Nightfall and its very unfinished still, plus they don’t have to make new classes or create a new starting area like Shing Jea Island. That means a larger high end area for developed characters. I am sooooooo… looking forward to GW:EN.

No more character classes that don't make sense: Hurray!!!
No more collecting weapons and items and grind away: Hurray!!
New skills and areas to explore not to mention a storyline that bridge the gap between GW1 to GW2: Double Hurray!!

Yeah, the ratio of good to bad skills is known on a big ol' list posted in 24 point font on the main page of Guru for everyone to see.
/sarcasm
10 good skills each beats 300 of half good, a few good, and the rest garbage skills. Less crud to sift through.
If its quality over quantity, then 10 per profession is enough.
We still don't know what the PvE skills are either so...um...yeah.
ITs not good enough!

I don't feel cheated but I am disappointed, especially in light of the fact that GW2 appears to be based upon a markedly different design that abandons several of my favorite things about GW. EN will likely be the conclusion of my GW experience, pity.

Quoted. For. Truth.
If I had the choice between this expansion being FREE or having NO expansion but balanced skills... I'd pick the balanced skills.
I really hope these PvE only skills aren't overpowered, just skills that wont make sense in PvP (like skills that only effect certain types of monsters or whatever, but aren't overly powerful, or skills that have effects that could be easily abused in PvP).
This expansion is very exciting.

While I don't retract my statements that I was looking forward to whatever aNet had in store for us, which we will likely never bare witness to, and am --indeed-- disappointed about this; after further thought and contemplation, I would like to admit that part of why I may feel cheated is because it seems like another Oddworld situation.
Anyone familiar with Oddworld Inhabitants are familiar with promises being changed in the middle of a process. In the early days of the Oddworld series, Lorne Lanning (Oddworld mastermind) raved about how excited he was of his "Quintology." Fans like myself found solace in these games and an intrigue for the unique that was appeased nowhere else. We also found great dependence in the anticipation of where these stories were heading in five games (or more, including bonus games) and how the world would be vastly developed in such time. After releasing only two of the main titles for this "Quintology" (Abe's and Munch's Oddysees, respectively) and two bonus games (Abe's Exoddus and Stranger's Wrath), OWI canned its next production (similar to aNet's canning of Campaign 4) and announced a complete change of plans...
When I joined GW, part of my excitement had developed from the idea of this world expanding continually... I imagined a final product of 12 or so continents an found great intrigue in how these different peoples and cultures and lands and stories would intersect. However, everything changed with the announcement of GW:EN.
I never intended to sound like I disliked the ideas that I read GW:EN would contain. I simply observed and was curious whether or not I was the only one who felt cheated that these worlds would never be fully realized. Of course, as sixdartbart so eloquently stated, indeed it appears I am.
Of course, there's nothing wrong with this, but now I have to grasp on to that faith in the developers that created the game I fell in love with in the first place (just as I had to with Oddworld Inhabitants) and trust that they're taking us in a positive direction.
And, if GW:EN isn't all that great, hopefully GW2 will be.

many things are planned, few actually make it to the public. How many games, movies, books etc have we heard that there would be a sequel, more or whatever (even star wars was originally going to be a set of 9 movies....).
Things happen, stuff changes.
I am happy that they are doing another whatever with the present characters...I liked sf and have no quams about doing more stuff like that. I see no need for more character classes (though I too love to make new characters just to make them), and we have enough skills right now---and how many of those skills do you routinely use??? Someone pointed out in another thread that there are very few skills from the last 2 chapters that people in the core proffessions use; if they manage to make 2 new useable skills for each class then they will have trumped what they did for the last 2 chapters! So 150 is plenty. Now my only sticking point is new armor...40 is just 4 sets per class...and I love to get new armor...wish they would do more, but oh well.
I will be happy with what they give (though my monks want some more tats!!!)

Agreed.
No complaints from me that's GW:EN is going to be an expansion. There's more than enough professions.
