i proposed something along the lines of an "in game quiz" also. Like...if youve been doing the same thing for too long, the game will ask you randomized questions based on the storyline, as far as that character has gotten.

I did think that introducing body-blocking in town could be a hilarious means of disrupting bots, but then I realised that unscrupulous players and guilds would abuse this to hold whole towns to ransom.
As for changing username, I'd also like a prompt to change password on a monthly basis. I'm getting increasingly nervous as time goes on that someone will crack my password. In cryptography, if your key doesn't change on a regular basis, it's only a matter of time before your code is cracked.
One tip I think ANet should make as an in-game announcement on the log-in screen is that of using the command line "-password xxxx" switch on the shortcut you use to launch GW. This effectively neuters keylogger programs as you never type your password.

But what if they are real players that just got a run or have forgotten the storyline? And also, wouldn't they just bypass the promblem by logging out, then logging back in to the same area? That's not to say it's not a good idea. It is a good idea, just needing some more details in it. For example, I would suggest changing the question to questions simple for a human, but something a bot can't do (which of course if typing) like: What is you're character name,what is the outpost name you're in, or even what continent (Tyria,Elona,Cantha). Also, you would have to make the system persistent. Even if you log out, when you log back in (even if you map after logging in), the question will pop up and you won't be able to go to an explorable area.

Anet values bots. Anet values anyone who buys their games. People who run bots buy copies of GW. (they buy many more copies than the three games I have bought). Bots operating through "stolen accounts and trial keys" is classic misdirection. Anet needs to sell more copies of GW and you and I are not going to buy another (untill GWEN & GW2). Anet manipulates the economy by nerfing which in turn requires those who run bots to buy additional accounts to keep their business going. You will say "Oh! another conspiracy theory!" but really it's all about PROFIT. Anet selling more copies of GW is competely OK with me, I just wish they would be more honest with us about how they are going to continue to make money untill they have new product to sell because they have already got our cash. So, if you were Anet how would YOU sell more copies of a game that for the most part everyone who will play GW has already paid???? I should get an award for such insight.

Well ideally the questions would be contextually based with the answer kind "hidden in the question".
Players who get run, but never beat the game through at least once, dont get any respect from me.
Logging out then back in wouldnt change the fact that youve been doing the same thing over and over

And this is what has been done to us time and time again from changing mobs, to changing skills and drop rates. All because of the OMG THE ECOMONY IS DYING. The changes are killing the economy because ANET assumes we will trade our high priced items, yet gives us no means of doing it, and has no intention of adding improvements to the trade system that would allow this to work.
So who wins? The bots. Normal players suffer as they cannot move their stuff unless they enjoy WTS spamming, while bots do not care, they just grab the loot and trade to merchant and repeat. ANET makes it harder for them to farm and it effects all of us, while they still can do what they do.
I pity the people who did not get to exploit the trader resets. Sad that some players will never even get to have 15k armor because of the poor drop rates and no way to trade the stuff they get that has value.

You're saying that Anet farms game purchases. xD
I would say that your "theory" is more likely incorrect than not, however.
People who bot are very careful about running bots after updates. The only ones who don't are the dumb kids who bought their bot off of eBay and used it on their main account, and ran it after updates because TEY R THA DUM.
Any purchases of game accounts DUE to banned accounts are probably minor, and inadvertent.

OK, we'll moan about people like you. Your comment has nothing to do with the thread but is another complaint about complainers. Fact is it IS our business. If Anet are making changes to a game we paid for because of these bots then we have a vested interest in this. I don't search for things that are wrong to complain about, they seem to be slapping me in the face at the moment. So much so I've stopped playing GW all together. Having people turn away from the game is not a success in my book (and I'm not the only one either).

vandal you are definatly not the only one who has turned away from GW due to these recent changes and the rational for said changes. And if the mods didnt rule these threads as if they were empoyees of Anet our voices would be heard. I have invested alot of time and money in this game and although I appreciate this games qualities I do not appriciate Anet completely disregarding a portion of players who choose to play solo (or those who have enjoyed a reasonable drop rate) and then blaming bots and the inability of "normal" players to have all the rare items that some players have invested alot of time and effort into aquiring. I've been reading these forums for a long time and I can't recall ever seeing anyone complain about having their account stolen (or even the compaint "Solo farmers are getting too much and it's not fair! Nerf them!). With stolen accounts, yes it probably does happen but with the vast number of bots (so I hear) could that be how they can get accounts and farm in this game? And I'm sure some have whined for equal wealth even without equal time and effort put into the game. To those players "Anerf to the rescue!"
