Yay! Me and Shan are finally done deciding the winners for our contest. The name doesn't really fit since the total amount of gold for the contest increased from 870k to 1195k! Many thanks to Sister Calamine, Rancin The Blue and Mistical Miss for donating gold to the contest.

The concept for the contest was to draw either my character Sanra Sprinkleworth or Shanaeri Rynale (more info and rules in the original contest thread here: link) in an entry with both characters, or an entry featuring only one of the characters (we have one winner list each for those 2 categories)

I'd like to note we'll be holding a mini-event ingame to congratulate the winners and give them their prizes. We'll hold this event in Henge of Denravi International 1 on Sunday 13th May 7PM GMT (remember to add +1 hour if you're in an area with daylight savings). I'd appreciate it if artists reply here or send me an PM with their ingame name. That way I won't have a random wammo say "HAY, I R AKUTEX, GIMME MONEYS PLZ!", claim they're a winner and confuse the heck out of everybody. If any winner can't meet up to the mini-event, we'll just hand over the prize if we see you online at any other time.

By the way, this will be only a casual event, besides kidnapping the artists to make them draw art for us... erm... I mean, besides congratulating the artists and giving them our gold there's nothing else planned.

Well, with that out of the way, here's a list of all the winners for the contest (along with comments about each entry from me and Shan)...

1st place worth 200k + special prize goes to Nian

Shan comment: Great Artwork, nice tagline and a great mesmerish feel to it, a deserved winner.
Sanra comment: Love it! Nice joke and the addition of Shiro perfects it. The overall mood for the picture is great. Love the small details such as the glitter falling from Shan's hands. Shan's FoW ribbon is just too cute. Definitely a worthy winner.

2nd place worth 100k goes to Akutex

Shan comment: So much detail here, from the accurate depiction of the DVDF cape to the overall quality. A very close second. Fun to boot.
Sanra comment: A very fun entry. Excellent job drawing the characters' outfits.

3rd place worth 75k goes to Ehecatzin Flyingcrab

Shan comment: Astonishing detail and quality.
Sanra comment: Theme is perfect for mesmers. The characters looks just stunning. The entry definitely has a great mesmer-esque feel overall.

4th place worth 60k goes to Lili Frog

Shan comment: A really fun, cute image. Nicely drawn and conceived and anything that has Nerf Bats in must be cool
Sanra comment: Very very cute picture. Love the smooth clean artstyle. Background has wonderful detail. Anet could learn from this, they've made the entire mesmer community feel like Sanra/Shan in this picture with their scary, scary nerfbats

Shan comment: Amazing detail, with loads of little touches that really sets the piece off

Shan comment: Amazing CG work, Esp on the armor and instruments. Great work
Sanra comment: Incredible work on designing the scene. The siege turtle is definitely a nice touch. It's the same minipet Sanra has ingame as well, whee.

Shan comment: Lovely drawing, full of detail and wonderful back story
Sanra comment: Very impressive artstyle and nice attention to detail.

Shan comment: This is such a fun picture, great effort

Shan comment: Mesmers With Guns, A really fun idea and great execution. When's the TV show.
Sanra comment: Very fun entry, would love to get those pistols too

Shan comment: Very Elegant Picture, Shan as drawn here has elements of Keira Knightly, shading and detail both excellent.
Sanra comment: Love the artstyle, theme is perfect for mesmers.

Shan comment: Excellent shading, fun concept and some very nice detailed touches.
Sanra comment: Love the scene. Anet should definitely add this as a quest "Adventure with an ally... and steal her FoW armor!"

Best Sanra entry worth 150k + special prize goes to Nian

Sanra comment: Absolutely adorable. Great job depicting the outfit in a new way, I like all the changes to it as well. The hair looks stunning. The overall soft, soothing, relaxing theme is great. The subtle purple "aura" around her is a nice touch. To put it simply, I love every part of this entry.
Shan comment: I echo what Sanra said, only one flaw tho. Where's my version? =p

3rd place worth 60k goes to Noanoa (Sanra)

Sanra comment: Love the idea of this entry. Great artwork, and most probably the entry which did the best job getting the mesmer theme perfect.
Shan comment: A great entry, with an excellent concept that ties in very well with the Mesmer profession

Sanra comment: Best action Guild Wars artwork I've ever seen. The background is very very impressive. The addition of the rapier is a nice touch. Love the pose and modified armor as well.

The special prize for the top winners is to have me and Shan as their personal slaves for one ingame session. We'll do whatever mission, quest or whatever the winner feels like doing. Although we reserve the right to scream and run away if the winner asks us to dance in the cage in Lion's Arch.

We had a short little public community vote for an extra prize which Ehecatzin Flyingcrab won (the contents of that prize is a Nightfall pre-order key, a full gemstone set and a Prince Rurik minipet).

WHoa! That blew me off so much! I didn't seriously dream I would fare so well in this whole competition what with the level being so high. :X Ohmygosh. /panic /falloffchair Thank you. I'm in awe now. Congratulations to everyone else too! *_*

I can probably talk a little about my favourites now? I spotted Akutex's Shan entry on GWO and it became one of my favourites aswell. I love the part with Shan and the black monster on the left, he looks so sweeet! and Shan's got him all under her finger. Not to mention great style. Congrats to Aku!

Ravensong's entry was also one of my faves. The idea is great and funny and Shan's looking mighty good. Great hips and legs lol!

Engelszorn's is very professional. The festival animals (uh..the nian?) have great detail to them and are very cute 'n' fluffy. The mood in the pic is very festival-ish and warm. I love the way Shan looks all cheery but still mesmy. Sanra's outfit looks great drawn this way, especially the sleeves are pretty. And that's definatelly Engelszorn's own characters in the background haha.

Kria's Shan entry was also one of my favourites. The scenery and designing of the character in 3D is pretty darn cool. I love the way the nature is completelly fantasylike but the colors are still very natural, in other words great lightning.

Lili Frog's style is one of my favourites. Found out about Lili before I even knew she also visited here. I read all the comics and fun stuff off Lili's website. Lili's style in my humble opinion is one of the more original ones I've seen and I love it.

Then ofcourse I loved the entry of Noanoa, my roommate. I was there harrassing her when she was making it and she was in a pretty bad mood too haha. I just love her being able to draw such clean and detailed lineart, I think she makes Sanra look beautiful and the concept of the violin included gets my points, it's very elegant. I actually felt pretty beaten when she posted it on the forums *ahem*. XD

Then there's the gorgeous entry Babaroga made. I think he was meant to color it later or maybe that was just other people saying stuff? I love it the way it is. I think the BW works wonders, it makes the orange colors really come out and Shan's quite the beauty there. The detail of it all is very nice and the reflections on the ground are a nice touch.

When greyf0x posted his I thought that is an entry that will appeal to many. I love the summer night lazy feel to it and the way Shan and Sanra are very comfy being in as little clothing as possible. XD The warm orangey skintones look lovely against the grey cement balcony.

I knew there was a reason I adore Nian's work! Though I must say, Noanoa's Sanra has to be my favorite fan art on GWG to date. And they are roomies? Ha! Go figure. If I ever see them enter a contest again, I'm submitting. You just can't help but want to compete with talent like that.

Just a quick little question. I'm about to set up the community vote thingy, to let people vote for their favourite entry. But I'm unsure how many entries I'll list in the poll. Would you people prefer something in the range of 10, 30 or 80 (all) entries? I don't want people to be overwhelmed with choices... on the other hand I don't want to leave out many entries for the poll.
