See any skills you might possibly want? Use all those hero points you were piling up across all your characters to unlock them. Personally I've been able to unlock over 150 skills this way. It's a bit misleading calling them hero points, as hero points unlock skills for your account.
|
actually, in some cases you don't even need the tome. Example: My Ele character goes to the hero skill trainer in Kodash Bazaar. Selects to teach "my heroes" Flame Djin Haste. When I open up my ele's skill menu, I will find the Fire magic skills have increased by one, because FDH is there... and I didn't spend any of my own skill points or cash, or tomes. And if it's unlocked for her, it's unlocked for all my ele heroes on all my other characters.
I know it says that it unlocks the skill for your heroes, but it adds them to the character who unlocked them too.

I never realised that when you used hero skill points to unlock a skill, you learnt it on that character too, so I've learnt something from this thread. Great suggestion for the balth faction, I've been doing it myself and you can rack up the points pretty quickly. And yes, amazed by how many people just want any excuse to flame. Well not really amazed, it's just kind of sad to see.

Yes. This needs to be more well known.
Hero skill points are FREE SKILLS for your character.

While you do agree that this isn't earth-shattering, this is common sense and should be apparent to any player capable of playing Hard Mode.

Guru should add a "[douche] [/douche]" format for all zinger's posts.
Try and be mildly polite to others on the forum.
@OP thanks for the post.

Your negativity is tiring. Everything is either "Serious business" or "Marking the end of Guild Wars". Think happy thoughts and take a break from the game and the forums if everything is so utterly terrible around here.
To OP: Thanks for the solid advice and good reminder.

Why do I get the feeling I'm getting flamed.......

I wonder why people always derail threads to insult me. The OP was legitimately unclear about the cost of the tomes. If you want to insult me, do it in an PM, or ask a mod to make an "The Official Zinger314 Insult Topic."
On-topic, why exactly did ArenaNet implement Hero Skill Points anyways? It's way too confusing, considering that there's no good guideline to where the Trainers are...

Hero Skill Points need to be renamed to:
"Free Skills that become unlocked so your heroes can use it too, even if you dont have that profession as your secondary"

Rise above people, rise above! :P
Zinger: good point, considering you and your Hero's share skills anyway. Was it always like that from day 1? I could swear it used to be like a PvP unlock so that only your hero could use the skill and you had to buy it for your character separately.

They originally named it that, but they felt it was far too long.

I wasnt aware that elite skills unlocked in pvp could be unlocked using elite tombs, I thought you could only unlock an elite skill thats is already unlocked via pve on your account....interesting

To add to the op's comments in support, another reason to use the tomes with the hero points would be the increase in number of hero points yolu have access to from each character. If each character can only have 33 (wiki) then you can maximize the number of skills across the account by spreading the hero points out and then tome'ing (made that up) them to other characters. Of course I think the real benefit here is to avoid the Skill Point barrier (not having enough when you want a skill, for example). Money-wise (for non-elites) I think it would still be better to sell your tomes and buy the skills (even at 1k) for less than what you made on the tome. I've run into not having enough SP's before and that would definitely have been nice. For all those looking for an argument (lots out there) I said it would be nice, as in a nice alternative, not that it's the only way or the true way to do it... (disclaimer)

See I had no idea that the hero skill trainer actually teaches YOU the skill, thought they just unlocked them.
I've been going for all skills known on my ranger since NF came out, that's a lot of money AND a lot of skill points... now in my case I kept running out of skill points before money until HM came onto the scene. Now I have a chance to actually get somewhere this year with the tomes. Course I'm already UAS so that helps, I just farm for the tomes of one profession untill Mr Green is all done, then move onto the next. I think only about 110 skills to go total now.

What the mess?
Your telling me that I will have to spend,
3K Faction,2-3K for tome and travel time to get a elite?
LOL
I would rather go get the capture signet, cap the boss, grap the green and RUN!
LOL I'm not ranting or flaming but man thats funny,
Maybe if I was really bored and had no other way to get it I would.
(End of the game elites )

Not only do you not answer ANY question I've asked you, but you can't even answer your own simple questions? Well, don't think too hard. maybe answering questions aren't your thing.

I think the OP ment instead of selling your elite tomes u find. I always have 20-30k faction lying around so it's not a problem for me, BUT
But remember, you can easily get 2k balths faction every 24 hours from the "Zaishin Challenge" . it you select your opponents to be the Illusionary Weapon Me/W you can easily beat them with Henchies (that's right, henchies, not even heros). takes like 5 minutes. I think it's easier to go this route for capping stuff like Feast of Corruption or Earth Shaker.
